Race Face Turbine R 35 Stem

Core Bike Show 2017
With options ranging from a stubby 32mm up to 70mm, the Turbine R should cater to a variety of needs.

Core Bike Show 2017
The 50mm version weighs 138g, and the stem will cost 89.95 GBP - check your distributor for local pricing.

Fresh for 2017, Race Face have added to their stem range with the new Turbine R 35. Developed using technology from the Easton Haven stem, the engineers have set out to optimize the balance between strength and weight. Exclusively made for 35mm diameter bars, the CNCd aluminum stem comes in at 138g for the 50mm option. It's available in lengths of 32, 40, 50, 60 and 70mm, but only in black, and it will retail for 89.95 GBP in the UK. (Check with your local distributors for pricing)

Polygon Collosus Custom Colors

Core Bike Show 2017
Tucked away in the corner of one of the halls was this Polygon Collosus with a fresh blue paint job that will be on the UK race team's bikes this year. Speaking to the dealer about it revealed a neat option we never knew about - Polygon can produce custom colors to suit your taste, although they'll be in the same layout as the standard design.

Marzocchi Transfer Dropper Post

Core Bike Show 2017
If you thought that this looks all too familiar, you'd be right. The Marzocchi Transfer is a rebadged and rebranded Fox Transfer.

Core Bike Show 2017
Coming in a black anodized finish, 125mm drop and 30.9 or 31.6mm diameters, the post will set you back 299.95 GBP.

Evoc First Aid Kit

Core Bike Show 2017
Nestled amongst the punchy colors of Evoc's bag range was this waterproof first aid kit that's available in two sizes.

Core Bike Show 2017
The larger kit has a 3L capacity, weighs in at 540g, and is packed with a wide range of medical gear, ideal for those longer or more remote mountain missions.

Core Bike Show 2017
The smaller option is around half the size at 380g, features a more compact kit list, and is perfect for day rides or to sit tucked away in your pack. Check with your local shop for pricing, but they retail for 44.99 and 74.99 GBP in the UK.

Exposure Lights

Core Bike Show 2017
Not only bumping up their lumens, Exposure has further honed their reflex technology on certain models. The intelligent system which optimizes power output to match your riding has become more progressive and faster reacting for this year.

Danny MacAskill's signature Magura MT7

Asides from his name on the front, the difference between this brake the standard MT7 is the intricate lever that has some clever engineering on closer inspection. The 'HC3' brake lever allows the user to further fine tune the brake to their preference, with the outer edge of the lever independently adjustable in three positions. This alters the mechanical ratio, giving the user the chance to dial in the scale of bite adjustment.

Core Bike Show 2017
The lever, which is motorcycle inspired, is unique to the MacAskill brake for now, but the option for Magura's other brake platforms is coming.

Core Bike Show 2017
Magura have used the same four-piston caliper from the standard MT7.

TSG Presto Goggle

Core Bike Show 2017
The key feature of the Presto goggle is the super low profile frame that allows for a good field of view. In the box will be an iridium mirror look and clear lens.

Core Bike Show 2017
The lens pops in and out pretty hassle free, although they are only available in black at the moment, and at a price of around the 80 GBP.

Topeak Joe Blow Twin Turbo Pump

Core Bike Show 2017
Topeak's Joe Blow pumps have long been a market staple. Their latest model comes in the form of the Twin Turbo, which uses both the push and pulls of every stroke to provide a claimed 40% saving of time and effort.

Core Bike Show 2017
The gauge is clear and concise, and the pump features an extra long hose.

Core Bike Show 2017
The SmartHead saves the need to swap the internals to suit Presta or Schrader. The Twin Turbo retails for 179.99 GBP.

USE Ultimate Component Collection

Core Bike Show 2017
Being under the same banner as Exposure lights, the guys at Ultimate Sports Engineering have admitted to a refocus on the componentry with new bars, stems, and seat posts on offer.

Core Bike Show 2017
This stem is patent-pending and weighs in at a measly 88g for the 40mm option. It's also available in 50 and 60mm versions.

Core Bike Show 2017
There's a range of carbon and aluminum handlebars and stems, as well as a suspension seat post with 50mm travel, which is apparently their most popular product!

Wider Range Hope Tech Cassette and Oval Chain Rings

Hope have kept an open mind towards the oval ring concept, with their own design department taking different views on the idea. They have, however, left it up to you decide and now offer both their standard retainer rings and a new oval option.

Core Bike Show 2017
They will, of course, come in a variety of different colors to match your taste. Prices start at 40 GBP for the standard ring and 50 GBP for the spiderless ring.

Core Bike Show 2017
More UK machined goodness from Hope as they increase the range of their cassettes with a new 10-48T offering.

Endura's 2017 Lineup

Core Bike Show 2017
New products, updated colors, and tweaks across the board for Endura. There is also an all new pullover (pictured here) that features all the same tried and tested specs, and just in place of the full-length front zip is now an extra cargo hold for trail essentials.

Being Scotland born and bred, Endura knows a thing or two about riding in grim weather and thankfully their clothing lineup reflects this. Endura has a broad spectrum of products which have been given a facelift for the new year.

Core Bike Show 2017
There are fresh colors and designs on most products.

Core Bike Show 2017
The women's MT500 and Singletracks jackets, as well as the MT500 spray trousers, sport the same refinements.
Core Bike Show 2017
The Spray trousers have new stretch bands cut in to help maneuverability and improving the feel when on the trails.
Core Bike Show 2017
The new MT500 helmet is expected this spring and will feature the Koroyd tubular core system to further improve protection. Endura apparently employs larger diameter Koroyd tubing over what's used in the Smith helmets in an effort to improve ventilation.

Hiplok AIRLOK and Z-LOK

Core Bike Show 2017
Dubbed as the ''world's first high-security bike storage hanger,'' the AIRLOK has been designed to gold-level security. Basically, the wall is going before the lock does. They are available for pre-order on AIRLOK's website.

Core Bike Show 2017
Another thing that caught our eye was the cable-tie inspired Z-LOK which would be ideal for days in the bike park when you need to grab a drink or lunch. They're super light, compact, and will fit easily in a pocket. The Z-LOK is sold in pairs, and they're available in multiple colors for 14.99 GBP.

Holy crap those yellow calipers! It's about time we had some Brembo-style brakes in the mtb world. Because everyone knows that yellow and red calipers are more powerful.
  • 26 0
For 699.99 Euro (1000$ CAD or 25$ USD), these brakes better come with a photo session with one of those F1 models.
  • 1 0
 Still expensive, nonetheless.
  • 1 0
@vallee: 700 Euro isn't that the price for the world's best brakes? Trickstuff... Rather buy those for the same price, plus you can mix like 9 different colors!! Big Grin
  • 58 4
That stem looks like you'll save some weight when it snaps and smashes all your teeth out
  • 23 0
BMX'ers have been running the Odyssey Elementary stem for years. Fully rigid and huck to flat.
  • 11 0
@WolfStoneD: yes with steel handlebars that can take the excessive clamping force needed to keep the stem gripping the steerer enough for it not to turn.I'm pretty sure this stem will spin on the steerer,or crush the carbon bar if torqued high enough to stop the stem from spinning on the steerer.
  • 3 0
 @cooper02:

Yea dude, that isn't broken, its been cut. Look at how smooth it is. Plus he says in the comment that he cut it off.
  • 4 1
@WolfStoneD: well...thats a pretty good example of a time where "my bad" could be used...so, my bad. thats what i get for not checking my sources
  • 1 0
So they stole the concept from a BMX company, made a mtb sizes version and now patent it? Lol that's lame.

Also indeed like you guys said, chances are big that it will either slip on your stem or overtighten your bars causing fatiguement / it to snap.
  • 45 4
What's the point of badge engineering the Fox Transfer? Just another SKU# to keep track of.
  • 41 0
Probably so it'll match when they stick it on a bike with Marzocchi fork and shock.
  • 25 0
@nuttypoolog: Just like why they make a kashima version. gotta be matchies
  • 13 1
When you consider that Fox likely has SKU#s for each piece of each product they manufacture (including non-mtb suspension products), adding another 4-5 is really a non-issue.
  • 19 2
Invest in a new sticker printer, sell twice as many droppers. An idea concieved in the board room by investors, followed by much congratulating and back slapping. Most likely riders won't care.
  • 9 2
Does seem to miss the point when you have a Marzocchi badge but Fox prices, Marz always used to be good value but £300 for a dropper post just isn't
  • 33 1
@blackthorne: You underestimate how much mtn bikers care about the decals on their shit....lol
  • 22 1
@blackthorne: You don't have to buy new sticker printer to print new sticker
  • 10 0
@DC1988: now we can choose between whichever is on sale.
  • 13 0
Same situation as the RF Turbine R stem. While this article states that the Turbine R uses technology (because stems are so hi-tech...) from the Easton Haven, it was stated in another article that it's a rebranded Haven stem. I run a 32mm Haven stem and it looks just like the one in the picture...
  • 5 0
Have a look at the following droppers; PNW, Brand X, TransX... all the same. Even the Shimano model is has suspect component parts. Catalogue shopped and lazered. You'll likely see plenty more companies not capable of the engineering or not interested is lecencing relevant/marketable technology jumping on the bandwagon this year. Buying for $60 from Taiwan and selling for $300 seems to the game everyone is cashing in on. #catalogueshopping
  • 3 1
I think that in fact it was the other way around. When Fox acquired Marzocchi, they already had their dropper post ready, but because of bancrupcy, a new Marzocchi dropper post didn't make its way for sales. Instead the design was adopted and refined by new owner - Fox - who at this time had their D.O.S.S. dropper as their only option. It was natural to get Marzocchi design and sell it and marketing it as Fox first, leaving the second place as a rebrand option for Marzocchi. Again, this is only a rumor I heard of some time ago, days before Eurobike trade show last year.
  • 3 0
@look-out: Marz had their own design before the acquisition by Fox. Totally different design than the Transfer. m.pinkbike.com/news/marzocchi-dropper-post-epd-350-ncr-sea-otter-2015.html
  • 1 0
@TheFunkyMonkey: It is the Easton stem!
  • 1 0
@lee-vps-savage: that was my point - apologies for not being more clear.
  • 1 0
@DC1988: Huh the Transfer is $264 out the door no tax and free shipping in the US
  • 2 0
 @endlessblockades: Without the lever?
  • 1 0
@lee-vps-savage: Yes I should've mentioned that. I use the Wolf Tooth
  • 24 0
USE will have to get around Odyssey's patent on their "elementary" stem before they can sell that thing... i still want it though!
  • 3 0
It's been for sale for a while now. Read a review, the only one I could find, it wasn't a good one.
  • 3 0
@mgolder: got a link for the stem review...it looks rad!
  • 3 0
Was thinking that looked lot like the G sport stem. If it's made anything like the 90's USE stuff it'll fall apart, crack, bend
  • 1 0
@ledude: I think it was in one of the uk magazines. Will have a scan through and see if I can find it. I was willing it to be good because I really like the look of it.
  • 1 0
@mgolder: think its in mbr this month, 7/10 rings a bell
  • 1 0
@the-wylie-man: Not got this months, was maybe 2 months at the most ago. Definitely didn't get 7/10 in the one I saw.
  • 2 0
@nojzilla: ha i didnt know they still existed i still have a chain tensioner from the 90's kicking around!
  • 3 0
@nojzilla: I'm still riding a USE suspension seatpost on my hardtail from the 90s or early 2000s. It's lighter than current suspension seatpost offerings and I actually sold my Thomson Elite because I liked the USE more.
  • 7 0
Don't forget, the Elementary has a legacy of ovalizing/crushing steertubes and bars. I'm curious how carbon will fare.
  • 5 2
@cwatt: The Elementary has to work a lot harder to stand up to BMX riding (with tall bars, too) than this stem ever will. Nobody riding an XC or trail bike is going to be sending a 3 down a set then complaining that their stem slipped.
  • 2 1
@crs-one: the elementary is not only ugly, but also a huge pain in the ass.
  • 3 0
@unrooted: only if you dont tighten it propert and dont have a spare piece of steerer tube to hold it together when removing bars. I think its great.
  • 3 3
That stem is pure beauty! I was considering penning a similar design, but made with unidirectional carbon. The expanding wedge would take a lot of the stresses if designed correctly, while tensioning the carbon. It is about the right way to use the fibers, and this would have a perfect continuous loop of carbon, resulting in super stiffness. So close to perfection! If there was a carbon version, I would be all over that!
  • 2 0
@nojzilla: I had george make me a frame. No shit!
  • 2 0
@smobytoe: G-Sport George,i used to run into him at the skatepark in Sheffield back in the day.Nice guy.
  • 3 2
@feeblesmith: I'm just happy to see a Swedish flag and it's not wakidesign commenting. Thank God.
  • 2 0
I was going to come in with a "They'll have to work their way round the Odyssey Elementary patent then" but see you guys are way ahead of me.

Probably worth noting that the elementary stem was shockingly bad, damaged bars and steerers, was incredibly finniky to set up and still slipped when you even looked at it, then cracked when you tightened it up. Must say my hopes for this USE version are not high....
  • 3 0
US Patents aren't valid anywhere except in the USA. You get 'around' it by just not wasting time on the US Marketplace.
  • 1 0
@gabriel-mission9: I don't see Odyssey defending a patent on technology they know is bound to fail.
  • 18 2
Nice almost invisible stem! I wouldn't buy it, I think it's playing with fire :-D
  • 14 2
BIG props to EVOC for coming out with a medical kit targeted toward mountain bikers. That said, it's only as good as the training you receive before you use it. Take the time to go do a good quality, certified, Standard First Aid course or even a Wilderness First Aid.
  • 14 0
Save the money you would spend on these evoc first aid kits and put it towards a good first aid course. You will then have the skills to help yourself and others. You can build up a suitable first aid kit for a fraction of the price of the evoc ones.
  • 4 0
I've ridden with a first aid kit in my pack for lots of years now and I'm surprised how few people bring one. I've had to patch up several riders across the years, both on home trails and in bigger mountains. If you don't need it yourself, it's always nice to be able to help a friend or fellow rider.
  • 1 0
@FredrikWestman: it's a good idea, although I figured people don't bring gear so they can return home bloodied to impress their significant other.
  • 2 0
@BorisBC35: extra points if you rip your shirt to stop the bleeding
  • 14 0
I wish all bike manufacturers made bikes with custom paint jobs for customers. Props to polygon! ????????
  • 3 5
 what? they make custom paintjobs?
  • 9 1
@leopaul: there is this thing called reading, you should try it
  • 3 1
 @JoseBravo: Much classic, so irony
  • 2 0
@JoseBravo: he was talking about paint jobs. Not custom colors. Propain and Nicolai are doing custom colors since forever. I thought they would completely design the bike after how you want it. That'd be neat
  • 1 0
 @JoseBravo: i don't get what you're trying to say
  • 2 0
@leopaul: it was a joke, tl;dr means "too long didn't read"
  • 12 1
Marzocchi dropper - semi interesting but WHAT ABOUT THE FORKS?

Come on Marzocchi, (cough Fox cough) we all need to know whats happening with mtb's best loved* forks.

*don't bother arguing, you all know it's true.
  • 9 0
The term "stem failure" popped in to my head since reading this article......not sure why? Can not look down at the cockpit and see such minimal material holding me to my bike....I think I will stay away from this trend till I see Rude riding one.
Surly these are not dentist approved.
  • 4 4
 Minimal material?

goo.gl/images/hM90cT

It most likely has more material than the hollow stem that you are currently riding.
  • 9 0
The Joe Blow push/pull looks interesting. For those of us lacking 20/20 vision, placing the gauge at the top of the barrel is a nice touch.
  • 1 0
shame it has a pointless 200psi range, who needs that !
  • 7 0
 @evocsports
Why can't you get the colours right?
You guy have put the Swiss Flag on your First Aid Kit.
The First Aid sign originates from the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) - As the name says red cross, the cross has to be RED.
I would expect more from our German neighbour.
  • 1 0
 @squarewheel
Thanks for your comment. Of course, we know that the first aid sign is based on the red cross. To switch the colours was a design driven decision. We think that the product name helps to avoid misunderstanding.
  • 10 0
Wow - thank God those lights are "progressive"...
  • 13 0
 But are they Boost compatible?
  • 12 1
How many tokens can I run in them?
  • 3 0
I know right? They could be conservative.
  • 9 0
74.99 GBP for a first aid kit? GTF Evoc!
  • 5 0
That's what I thought. £20 worst of kit at best
  • 8 0
Ha! Typo they must mean 7.49 Anyway I'm not going to crash
  • 4 0
Can't wait to check out some of the new Endura gear. Been running their Single track jacket for over a year now and love it. It's not the most inexpensive stuff on the market but man it's durable and never lets me down.
  • 4 0
I quite like the look of that helmet of theirs too. Looks nicer (in my eyes) than the two Smith offerings.
  • 1 0
Must say the shorts I got of theirs are money. They were still spendy at 50% off but worth every penny.
  • 3 1
Major design flaw of the AIRLOK - it fixes to the wall with rawlplugs. Ok if you have a concrete or brick wall, but not so good for the vast majority of folks who have plaster/wood wall (just pull it off the wall like a shelf). Think i'll stick to my chain around the iron radiators.
  • 8 2
The Easton Haven stem is great. Beautiful CNC and finish.
  • 2 1
And it is RF stem Big Grin I Also looked at the picture saw my Haven stem, loooked at the title, again picture. Then oh yeah RF an Easton are under same ownership Big Grin
  • 3 0
Do Hope sell their Pro 4 hubs with their proprietary driver to fit their own cassette, or do you have to buy the hub with a shimano or sram xd driver and then by the hope driver on top of that?
  • 7 0
they are available with all 3 options
  • 2 0
Some of that endura stuff looks quite good but I sadly wont be buying any as the prices are ridiculous!
  • 1 0
High security bike lock, that only locks the frame? "Basically, the wall is going before the lock does." you mean all your components are going before your frame does.
  • 3 0
 That mt7 looks delightful!
  • 2 0
Dam Hope stuff is sexy. Been waiting on an oval ring from them - now i can get that crank.
  • 2 0
And I thought that when Fox bought Marz that the new products will be more budget friendly. Not.
  • 1 0
Easton are now concentrating more on the road side of things where as RF are taking over the MTB side of things, including wheels.
  • 1 0
How about showing off some stuff from Wren?!?! I've got their forged stem, it's light! Cool inverted forks and carbon bars too
  • 1 0
The Z-Lok looks cool and would work well for me but is it only made out of rubber or plastic? I would hope there's a steel cable that runs through it Eek
  • 1 0
Endura pullover jacket. Full zip please. Nobody likes to pull a wet jacket up over their face.
  • 3 2
Watch out for Riley Jenner on the Polygon team this years that lad is going places.
  • 2 0
Oval for Mtb, anybody got any sound advice?
  • 6 0
 Try one.
  • 1 0
 ...
  • 1 1
@jrocksdh: Buy, use once, sell, no thanks. Next
  • 3 0
@jimmythehat: ah, like find someone that has one to try. I havnt come across someone whom went back after goin oval.
  • 8 1
Bought one. Went to fit it to the bike, but the existing hardware didn't work out with it. Put it in the "get around to it" pile and haven't fitted it yet after owning it for three months.

Did this help you in any way in reaching for an answer to your question? No. But it filled up some time in my lunch break.

Ride on!
  • 1 0
I've had one for about a month now and lost 6000 grams on my legs....but seriously I'm never going back. Even my wheelies are more controlled, which I thought would be the opposite.
  • 2 0
USE 40mm stem-is that all mountain rated or what?
  • 2 0
Anyone using those Magura MT7s? What are they like?
  • 1 0
That USE stem is a 1:1 copy of the Odyssey Elementary stem!
www.odysseybmx.com/dailyword/archives/V3TOP2-thumb.jpg
  • 2 0
stems are like bikinies. The less there is the more they cost.
  • 1 0
Sorry USE! Odyssey already has a patent on that stem.... from like 2001 Razz
  • 1 0
That stem looks very similar to the Odyssey one and I can put together a better first aid pack than that for £10
  • 2 1
 and the marzocchi destruction begins
  • 4 0
Its not destruction it is assimilation. Marzu would go suicide anyway. Now they are Skoda of VW but in the bike world...
  • 1 0
 loving evoc's leather chairs.
  • 4 7
48T cassette, good lord - the derailleur will be dragging on the ground.
  • 13 0
Haha Have you been living under a rock? They have 50T Cassette's now!
  • 5 0
@Mwmg15: Scratch that, 32/50 is lower than the 22/32 ratio my triple got. O.o
  • 5 2
When 36er wheels become the new standard you will see 70T rear cogs..........
