I'm looking at buying a Race Face N/W Single Ring and Shimano Saint M825 Cranks but I don't know how many teeth I will need. I have to ride up for my downhill but I want to set my bike up for a more downhill feel.
How many teeth will I need? 36t 38t 30t 32t 34t 44t 40t 42t (options)
You ought to immediately scratch 30,32,40,42 and 44. Then the rest depends somewhat on your cassette and somewhat on your physical build. I run a 34 onto an 11-32 cassette and when I had a longer seat post my Kona was climbable now that I have a shorter seat post I walk up and I'm now temped to go up to 36 or 38 to improve my high end.
I use an 11-36 and a 32 up front, can get away with a 34 if yer fit, i had one of the RF narrow wides and it just wore out so quick, now have an E-13 one
