Gee s teammate Charlie Hatton charges off a large huck to take third place after having a DNS in 2017

The sixth edition of the toughest downhill mountain bike race in the world, Red Bull Hardline, is less than two weeks away, and the full rider line up has now been announced.

12 of the riders on the list will be making their debut in Machynlleth, Wales, including UK dirt-jumper and slopestyle specialist Matt Jones. His twin, Jono Jones will also be competing adding another case of sibling rivalry to this year’s competition alongside the Atherton brothers.

The event will take place September 14-15th. All the action, both Saturday’s qualifying and Sunday’s final will be available to watch live at redbull.com/hardline.

Hyped to see Matt and Jono go down the hill! Is matt going to do it on an enduro bike??
  • 20 0
They ride well together, feed off each others enthusiasm. I'm sure Matt will have to be talked out of doing it on his San Quentin...

Well he did just get build that new hardtail. Hmmmm
  • 5 0
@ProvoMtb: A hardtail at hardline...... sounds right. If a little suicidal

 Bruce Klein needs some redemption
  • 3 0
My thought as well. He brought an awesome vibe to Hardline last year.
  • 2 0
 Agree!!

Forget the jumps, from what I've seen there's some absurd tech between the features that even the WC racers struggle to get down cleanly, freeriders and slopestylers are gonna have a nightmare of a time. Matt Jones has some big balls attempting Hardline when he barely rides DH. He gon die.
  • 4 1
Yeah my exact thought, going to be interesting to see how Matt approach this hardline. I guess obligation as a RB athlete.
  • 2 0
@Kangaroostandoff: I dont think anything about riding these events is an obligation

didn't realize how big that drop was. The povs make it look like it's to flat, but there has to be a transition hiding in there somewhere. Still that's gnarly.
  • 19 8
There needs to be a women's version of hardline, change my mind.
  • 61 4
 I believe that's hotline.
  • 22 0
Zero reason for it. All riders use the same course just as in DH. I am sure I will be down voted into oblivion but...
  • 27 1
Females have better survival instincts, so probably wouldnt attempt this.
  • 4 3
@bman33: hahaha..he meant women should have a class and be racing.
  • 3 5
@zyoungson: Come on-- Casey Brown trying for Rampage & women slopestyle riders on the rise. There's a place for it--it's possible that there's some physiology that could be understood better &/ improved. If I'd been riding mtb seriously since I was 5 I'd want the opportunity to do insane progressive things along with others...

 @hlars12: its a joke..
  • 3 0
Wow, I got a post deleted! Didn't realise I'd somehow lure a mod into the sar-chasm.
  • 1 1
@BenPea: welcome to the club; it's an unexpected rite of passage, I suppose
  • 1 1
I was only impersonating a troll, not actually being one. Or is that how you become one?
  • 1 0
@BenPea: Just be careful, it's a slippery slope
  • 9 0
No Americans? regardless, i would love to see Laurie take it out, definately my favourite rider to watch, full throttle everywhere.
  • 3 0
US open is this same weekend in California. Could have something to do with it. Pretty big pro purse up for grabs i believe.
  • 2 0
yeah he's got the fire of youth.... i get scared now each time he drops in from the gate. it's never a boring run!
  • 7 0
Way to go Johnny Salido, Jalisco representing!
  • 3 0
Hell ya he will send it!
  • 5 0
I know Bulldog was going to be in hard line this year until his injury, bummer that more top dogs arent gonna come. All good, I want to see this race!
  • 3 0
sh*t... i wonder how his surgery went?
  • 3 0
@WasatchEnduro: he posted a video on the gram of his girl rubbing his feet and his toes moving... annnnd he can feel his toes. So, fingers crossed for him.

 Isn't Payet on Scott?
  • 2 0
 That’s what I thought!!

Can we please ensure the redbull feed goes up before the results get posted this year?
  • 3 0
Great line up but as always the big names will pull out of the race runs on the Sunday, such a pity, happened last year with Ratboy, Sam Reynolds, etc going but not competing Frown
  • 4 1
There's a quite a few names I personally haven't heard of, should be interesting to see how they stack up against the more well known riders
  • 5 0
be cool to see a few Rampage riders in the mix
  • 1 0
Salido just made the Rampage list, didn't he?
  • 3 0
I'm excited to see Laurie Greenland. I haven't seen his Hardline runs before, but I love watching him lay it all out there at the World Cups.
  • 3 0
Wish josh was racing this year. Was stoked to see him practicing last year but he decided not to race because of the conditions Frown
  • 4 0
Flo Payet is not on VoulVoul Racing anymore, and Leo Sandler is from GBR, no?
  • 2 0
 The Sandler's are kiwis/NZ.
  • 4 2
damn, every year the same. The track is built ex professo to be the hardest ever, and there's no B lines. Trust me sjw, if there were women able to send it there would be footage of it.
  • 1 0
Yeah, Rachel, who basically lives there, refuses to do it (obviously not this year, but in the past).
  • 1 0
Great to see Harry Molloy on the list, he's had a great year so far and could really bring it. Really happy they will show the qualifying. Given how much they cut the field for finals it will give a lot more story to the weekend.
  • 1 0
where are that boy with shrill rat voice ,that give up from DH and ,,,what else the Bryceland ?he likes to show up sometimes this event does not suit him ?cmon rat give a life signal
  • 4 2
I don't think a woman could handle something as big as Hardline. The dudes have a tough enough time of it.
  • 2 0
Never heard of most of them. Good to see Bendon Fairclaw still flying the flag for the old folk!
  • 3 0
 SEND IT Harry Molloy
  • 2 0
Good to see Cole and Matt in there Big Grin D
  • 4 1
 No Septics? WTF
  • 2 0
What, no invite for the denim destroyer?
  • 4 3
I would appreciate the nationalities as well
  • 15 1
I've added them in for ya!
  • 6 2

Yes Oscar! Finally a Swede in hardline!
  • 2 0

  • 1 0
Top 3 should have an automatic invitation to Rampage.
  • 2 2
Wow that's a long line of Brits
  • 1 0
 Go Brendog!!!
  • 3 4
Too many GBR boys. Just saying.... ;P
  • 6 9
no ladies? might as well get all the Athertons and Seagraves involved...and throw a little love out to Tracey Hannah too?
  • 4 2
You know there's been fair few injuries this season right?
  • 7 2
Yeah fuck it, just lob them all off a cliff. I'd like to see Rogatkin do something silly here.
  • 9 1
I doubt any would be up for racing that track. You can see the difference in standard at the WCs. Could any female rider do all the features properly? Love to be proved wrong.
  • 8 4
Love to see Casey Brown give it a go!
  • 4 0
@pedalhound: sure she can send everything as a separate accomplishment but it's different in a full speed race. Thats why you don't see her racing DH.
  • 1 0
To be fair I'm sure Rachel has had ample opportunity to ride the line and hasn't done so, I think that tells you all you need to know. I'm going next week for our 5th Hardline Trip and promise you that even the redbull feed does not do the track justice. Yeah, they jumps are big but most of the big boys and girls have got no issue hitting booters like that. It the tech sections that really set the race apart. Some are just disgusting steep, off camber wet rocks with big drops into flat landings at speed and then having no time to recover before lining up the next feature. There is really no area to rest it's just full on top to bottom
