Greg Minnaar Out of Fort William with Fractured Right Arm

Greg Minnaar has fractured his right arm while testing the newest iteration of the Santa Cruz V10 and won't be racing at the Fort William World Cup this weekend.

We're gutted for Greg, who's split was up on the rough section at the first round of the World Cup in Losinj before flatting. Minnaar has won Fort William a record seven times.

Looks like he's trying to make the most of it with a little hiking with his cast... We've reached out to Greg and there will be more news as we get it.

 Wow, 1000 upvotes in 24 hours. Where do I even begin. I can still remember it like it was yesterday, sneaking away from my work station to check Pinkbike. The comment just came to me.  @jrocksdh: Sure, but he's by far the least human in the entire field: great at spotting the line with the best reward:risk ratio (e.g. not hitting the big gap in Val Di Sole), freakishly good at setting up his bike (though Bruni's still the best, it looks like he's floating down the track), known for pretty much never crashing or getting injured (2013 was the last time he missed a race because of injury), and with the confidence of having won 5 out of the last 7 world cup overalls.
I'm betting for him winning the overall, and I wouldn't be surprised if he matched or beat his own record of 5 wins in a season.

Having seen Luca riding last weekend, if he rides like that this weekend he will be hard to beat. He was visibly faster than the other santacruz riders and Bruni.

There was no midge last weekend at the track but there was a breeze.
No wind and humid should keep the midge away, go out and get wet on the hill watching the top boys show how its done in the rain.

 Anybody else feel like a whole lot of top riders are out with injury? whats the count now in the top 20 ranking? 5? Is this just the new state of play and everyone is cool with it? Or do we need to suit up better?

 Hard to say, but I bet most of it is because are pushing so hard these days and bikes & tracks are faster now. And hell, while he apparently broke his arm at Ft. BIll, he was just filmed getting ready to be towed by a moto into what I assume is a big assegai jump.

Extra armor wouldn't be a bad idea ether of course, but I'd guess many of these offs are so violent they're going to break bones/tweak joints no matter what. Having said that, like many on PB I suspect, I've seen dudes get up and walk away relatively unscathed from wrecks that were "avert your eyes" violent (myself included) and break collar bones and wrists on mundane, slow speed tumbles. Like TLD kit colourways, sometimes it doesn't make any sense.

 No x-rays or footage of the crash or anything. That would be so funny if this is a fake days before... Totally screw everyone's bets, Fantasy teams, etc, mess with opponents' minds, and then show up right before race time and crush everyone. For real though...  It certainly puts him out for the overall or even in the top five. Then next year he's a bit older, all the young guns are a bit more experienced and he's trying for a comeback. Gee has had three years in a row down due to injuries - I don't think a Gee comeback will be likely, nor do I feel unfortunately, a Minnaar one will be either after this. At the end of his contract, I believe he'll retire. This fracture of his really sucked, but I hope you're right el-nombre.
