Remy Morton has posted on social media that he's had a less than ideal start to the summer season in Australia after injuring both his arms in a crash on Dream Track. We originally reported that they were broken based on the casts he was wearing photos, but Morton has since told us that there are no obvious breaks at this point.

bigquotesI need to go back for more X-rays next week once the swelling goes down. I got blown in the wind on Dream Track on my BMX so I just came down onto my side quite heavy. Hopefully it's just swollen and sprained and nothing major. The concern is my scaphoids. Just a waiting game for a week or so until the swelling goes down. It's a bit hard with my right wrist because of past damage in that wrist. But I'll go hard to physio and hopefully it'll just be a nice break to get stoked on riding again!Remy Morton

We wish him all the best with his recovery and can't wait to see him back on the bike and making more incredible videos.

We're crossing our fingers the damage won't take him out for too long and we'll update again once Morton finds out the extent of his injuries.

One of my wife's best friends was visiting from out state for a few weeks. While we were out she "borrowed" one of my bikes for a spin and took off down a big hill. Needless to say she wasn't prepared for the power of a 203mm saint disc and went otb on pavement and ended up just like this.
My wife is a good friend...... LOL

Speedy recovery... As someone who broke both arms in a motorcycle crash, I hope things are minor. I have a good wife who took care of me at my time of most need.... THAT was a test of a relationship, let me tell you!

@PocoBoho: also there is research being done that puts tissue on the bone which drastically speeds up healing.

Good pun, bad anatomy! The humerus is the bone that runs from the shoulder to the elbow (the one @brianpark broke in 2019). The bones in the lower arm are the radius and the ulna (the ones I broke in 2018!). From where his casts are, I'd say Remy did his radius and/or ulnas, but I've reached out to ask for details to be sure.
  • 49 0
 Ulna have to agree.
  • 163 0
 @sarahmoore: that’s why it isn’t Humerus.

I broke both of my arms once.
The next few weeks are going to be a bit crap.
Pro tip: Don't do what I did and have falls re-breaking your arms.

 Heal up soon Remy.........

An emergency room surgeon once said to me in a rather cavalier fashion ...... “No, no, no....Dont stop what you are doing. We have mortgage’s to pay too”....

I spent a long time pondering that comment, while laid up on pain med’s..!

Feels bro. Shattered both my wrist years ago. Let me just say.....my wife is a SAINT!

@theging: If it ain't broke, don't fix it
  • 10 0
Yikes, lots of big names with injuries here recently.

Heal up Remy.

Side note, fear of this sort of stuff is probably the reason I progress slowly. Because on the one hand "Progression!" and then on the other is "being able to work and have income/pay morgage/etc!"
  • 3 6
Not the best time to go to a hospital and there's no competitions going on, but I guess it's still a dangerous sport and people are gonna crash.
  • 3 1
It can be a double edged sword.. slow progression due to fear but riding fearfully is more dangerous. And slowly progressing to avoid crashing and injury means sucking at crashing when it does happen, and it still will, maybe even more due to fear. Crashing is an important skill! I’ve barhopped a 40’ double and slid into the landing like it was home plate. Not gonna learn that from a how-to vid.
  • 3 0
 @emptybe-er:

Agreed.

Fear of a big crash just means I try to be calculated on what risks I take.

Still progressing, but only going bigger/farther/etc on days when I’m “feeling it”, and have been riding similar stuff/etc.

Riding scared is the worst though, totally agree. Gotta loosen up (which for mean comes from practice and familiarity).
  • 8 0
@DoubleCrownAddict: no queues at hospitals here pal, we haven't had community Covid in months
  • 3 0
@ocnlogan: Think you nailed it, calculation is so important. Funny how higher risk riding is usually referred to (by non participants) as mindless hucking yet it obviously requires precise calculation/precise skillset. At least to be good at it.
I’m now on the lose it side of “if you don’t use it, you lose it” so it’s getting interesting. Same with the calculation, the older I get the more important it is to keep things calibrated. The rust sets in, believe that.

@rewi: excuse him. Most Americans are unaware of what an effective government response to a pandemic is...
Also, not likely to be aware of news outside US.
  • 8 0
Is it pure chance this article is right above the 'huck to flat' compilation?
  • 7 0
From Olly Wilkins's recent experience, a huck to flat seems to be the way to break an ankle, not an arm.

I think he knows what he’s doing man, he came back a couple years ago from one of the most insane and destructive crashes I ever heard of at darkfest...
  • 1 1
@TheLongMan: I think I know very well what I’m talkIng about. I am well aware of that crash and also listened to him talking on about it on Matt Macduff S show.
I even offered to give him a ride ( Remy ) at Mt sainte Anne back in 2017 at the World Cup. Him and his best friend at the time then.
I know what’s in my cup.
