The course was in good shape and running fast

Raw rivalry is the name of the game in the 100% Dual Slalom. This old-school race format pits two competitors against one another in a side-by-side battle against the clock’s cruel hand, battling to avoid elimination. Dual Slalom is unique in that it brings together racers from all backgrounds. Enduro experts, downhill champions, freeride legends, and masters of style – they all line up at the Slalom start gate to see who can bring together the most explosive run through tight turns, jumps and rhythm sections. Riders take one run down each side of the course, with the fastest combined time taking the win. Whistler’s race has now expanded into a Crankworx World Championship discipline, with races staged at each stop on the Crankworx World Tour.

Would love to see a bike check at one of these dual slalom events. Given the lack of new slalom specific bikes, I think it would be interesting to see what set-ups people are running these days.

I remember a previous year Kintner was on a Norco Optic - their trail bike, set up for slalom.

Also wondering whether a trailbike turned slalom bike is faster than the dedicated slalom machines that were used during the DS and 4X days..

In DS its a hodge-podge of shortened travel bikes. Not that many dedicated option like you said. Im an old punter and just race my old smallIsh Capra in climb mode. Seems to work

I know that Elliot Heap used a Nukeproof Mega 29er and Chloe Taylor used a Calibre Sentry 29er. I dont think they changed anything to make it slalom specific

Varies course to course and rider to rider. Some guys are rocking the sized up DJ or Slope bike, others just ride thier normal trail bike, and some modify their trail bike to be more nimble and flat out.

why doesn't Jill do World Cup?
  • 2 0
She doesn't seem to be that interested in spending all season traveling internationally. Was surprised she didn't do more EWS races after her 2nd place finish.

She's 37 years old. She has better things to do.
