and in more interesting news, The Downtime Podcast's latest guests have been Yoann Barelli and Paul Aston.
  • 6 3
Am I the only one that thought Paul Aston sounds insufferable in that interview?
  • 1 0
@gtill9000: do tell us all why
  • 43 6
11k for that Pivot Shuttle is hard to justify. For the same amount of cash you could a very nice sport touring motorcycle with luggage and bike rack. Plus a new hardtail to go with it and enough left over for a cool adventure.
  • 38 18
Buying a regular motorcycle sounds about as fun as buying a road bike.

There is a shop close to my place of work in London that sells handbags for 30k. Leather pouches sewn together with a strap... 30k. Theres a market for lots of things on this planet. I haven't got two penny's to rub together but 11k for a motorbike sounds like a dumb purchase too. My car was £500 and I dont even get wet in it and it doesn't fall over when I stop. What I'm saying is some things cost different amounts to completely different things

 @zeusdreadbeard: thanks for sharing!
  • 13 8
@notenduro: More fun than an e-moped though.
  • 5 0
@notenduro: so not a motorcycle rider then?
  • 42 12
will those copper grips cure my arthritis and clear a path for a TRUMP victory?
  • 33 0
Only if you sleep on a My Pillow at night.
  • 22 0
Eating massive amounts of shrooms daily for the next 4 years might help with that.
  • 5 0
 @wibblywobbly: You with Newsmax too?
  • 13 2
That commencal looks really sexy for an ebike
  • 10 1
 That’s like saying Jumbo shrimp...
  • 12 1
 Where's the E-snowbike filter?
  • 9 1
Those shoe gaiters for trail work are actually a pretty good idea. They should reduce the frequency of shoe emptying. I'll probably just cut up some old socks to try it tho
  • 4 1
Roadies have had shoe covers for ever
  • 22 1
Did that guy just use his avalanche shovel to lay some sand on his shoe/gaiters for a photo? That shovel blade doesnt look particularly well suited for digging anything other than snow. And if you had a real shovel and were stomping on the back to dig into firm ground, wouldnt it just cut the bottom strap of the gaiters? Gaiters can be nice for things, but this ad photo raises a lot of questions for me...
  • 5 1
@takeiteasyridehard: I thought the same thing. Any serious trail building requires boots/pants anyway
  • 1 0
@takeiteasyridehard: Yeah the bottom strap is dumb. I mean that particular product looks a bit dumb as does the marketing, but the idea is good. Most of the soil/sod (where I am) has to be broken up with a mattock before a shovel will do anything.
  • 4 1
I don't get the logic though; the reason we get rocks in our shoes is because we'd rather be riding so end up digging in 5-10's. If I'm going out to purposely build trail why wouldn't I just wear boots in the first place?
  • 3 1
@plyawn: I always hike in for trail work. I wear light trail running shoes for hiking and trail work cause that's what I prefer. I just find boots hot, heavy, and uncomfortable. Also loosely tied running shoes can be slipped on/off, so emptying them takes only a few seconds.
  • 9 0
they should make a water bike conversion
  • 5 0
  • 1 0
@rrolly: 36+++ so the fat tire floats with more clearance on water Wink
  • 6 0
Mossy Cog Tight Stack Bike Rack?? all of the other names were taken I assume
  • 2 0
On the one hand, I, like many of you, have a hard time trying to figure out how copper grips or a children’s book fit in a tech briefing. On the other, I read through all the comments and think, “Gosh, we are a cynical lot.”
  • 5 0
When you hide behind the anonymity of a made up username and a keyboard, it’s pretty easy to be a cynic and tear down everything. I suspect less than half the people here aren’t as bad as you think. Wink Ha!
  • 3 1
@gnarlysipes: @gnarlysipes: and you get to vote for comments you like better, so there is an incentive to be a smart-ass if you can get people to laugh. hooray fake internet points
  • 3 0
@Spencermon: You deserve an upvote for that.
  • 4 0
80€ for a set of grips? LoL what drugs are those guys on?
  • 1 0
 They messed up, they're $25.
  • 4 0
@Abacall: My reading comprehension aren't the best, but it does say from 19€/$25USD to 80€/$99USD. For that kind of $$$ I better at least get a courtesy reach around.
  • 1 0
@m1dg3t: It does, PB messed up the pricing. The grips are $25, the bars are $99.
  • 11 10
So this was basically just an advertisement article right? There was nothing new that I didn't already know about, but felt like I was being sold on all of it..
  • 8 0
well yes but i doubt they are getting paid for this and also nice to see everything in one place, a lot of things here i havent seen
  • 6 1
What do you think the business model is for websites like Pinkbike? Most of the revenue generated by this website is through advertising.
  • 4 0
@WalrusRider: that doesn’t mean every post is a paid advert
  • 3 1
@toad321: would you like to read our pamphlet? We're very excited to meet you.
  • 1 0
@toad321: Definitely true. It's also about driving clicks and people to this site to show current and potential advertisers that their ads will be seen by lots of people.
  • 3 0
@WalrusRider: We didn't pay for this, Pinkbike are jsut nice people showing you what new tech is out there. Thanks pinkbike
  • 1 0
Yes, buying an E-bike that costs more than 10k will have some sales,
But a pregnant one?
May give birth too some A I mutant?
  • 1 0
What to do with your old 26" dh bike -- make it a snow bike..... maybe not that crazy thing in the article. Just one with skis on both ends
  • 2 0
I have a better idea! Just keep riding it, or pass it along to someone who will.

Skiis on both ends would be fun though! Big Grin
  • 2 1
You ever heard of a ship in a bottle. May I present you with a bike in a water bottle
  • 10 0
You think the time is right for an actual real Transition BottleRocket?
  • 1 1
Reverse Components: If yo ‘gonna advertise it and try to sling it, make sure your “retailers” and BTI actually have the products for us USA slackers to purchase.
  • 2 1
Dude, pretty much every single newly released bike product or bike is immediately sold out or has production delays these days. It's so goddamn annoying that companies keep rolling out products that won't arrive for months, I'm about to start giving out inside reps' cell numbers because I'm so sick of answering dozens of calls about recently "released" items and completely bullshit ETAs. I guess what I'm saying is that it's just as frustrating for industry folk as it is for the consumer.
  • 2 0
@BobbyHillbomb: It's almost as if we're globally connected...
  • 2 0
Never thought I'd look at a pair of gaiters and think, "Ooh, nice."
  • 1 0
Same. But I think it is still true for me though.
  • 1 0
Does anyone know if there is any issues with the fork/ rear shock if the bike is stored vertically?
  • 1 0
I just learned about VHS Slapper Tape and it's unavailable.

@VHS - fix this pls
  • 1 0
Will set up pre orders soon for a small shipment arriving in 2-3 weeks. Situation with covid has stock low though, so get in quick! thanks
  • 1 0
We have set up pre orders on the next limited batch. should be here very soon. Thanks
  • 1 0
@VHS: out of curiosity - any EU distributors?
  • 1 0
@wayslo: working on it. But airdrop bikes and cyclorise in the uk sell it.
  • 1 0
@VHS: this seems to be a bit better option than NZ import, thank you.

Need to figure out the post brexit taxes BS tho.
  • 1 0
man... that snowbike conversion kit xD wtf?
  • 3 2
The thing is, I bet you could make a really cool snowbike following that basic design. It just... isn't that.
  • 1 1
Ordered the kids book. Well worth the $25 bucks. Kid loves it. It’s well written and illustrated.
  • 1 0
What shovel is that though? It looked elite
  • 4 0
 thats definitely a snow shovel
  • 2 0
 @NivlacEloop: brown pow hauler?
  • 1 0
Trail building in running shows and an avi shovel! So hip.
