Video: Every Single Trick in Dennis Enarson's New 'Caps Lock' Video is a Banger

Jul 30, 2018 at 13:20
by Sarah Moore

Dennis Enarson has been hard at work on his CAPS LOCK video for over a year and a half and always wanted to try to outdo his last Demolition Last Chance video part and went all in to do just that. Every single clip in this is a banger and he could have died on doing each one. Dennis brings tech, big gaps, grinds and air tricks to the next level on street.

Wow. Incredibly smooth, which is probably why he's still in one piece. Also glad that he showed that you can wear a helmet and still be a really good street rider.
  • + 8
Who's got big balls and talent oozing out of them? Dennis Enarson, that's who!

I logged in just so that I could respond to what I just witnessed. Get this guy a MTB and a ticket to RED BULL RAMPAGE.... Nuff said.
  • + 5
@chillaxin: Never mind the mountain bike. He could use the BMX and be just fine!
  • + 3
You do not have any working brain cells left doing stuff like that without using some protection
  • + 5
With that kind of riding, you can have brakes, helmet, knee pads, elbow pads and a little mermaid waist bag and still be the coolest around.
  • + 1
Alex donnachie, Mark Burnett, among others wear helmets in almost every edit. They're some nof then est out there right now. I won't deny that almost noone else wears a helmet ever, though. Chad Kerley only ever wears when he absolutely has to, and he goes pretty big, too.
  • + 96
He should donate his knees to science!
  • + 37
wrists and ankles as well... what an animal...I'm in pain just watching
  • + 9
Honestly he hucking bigger on a 20 than 99 % of the PB crew. Props for that, imagine him on a mtb of any sorts, or maybe he 20 4life. Either way I know I would hit that last huge drop to awesome bank but would have to be on a DH with moto helmet. How long would you look at that and hit or no go?
  • + 1
@fecalmaster: Yes i would love to see someone like this ride a MTB! It's kind of like Nyquist transitioning to big bikes on the slopestyle, just really cool to watch
  • + 9
@ryanbpoquette: I agree but look at that video. Have been watching his career for many years. He is too stylin and cool for MTB honestly. I'm sure whatever he wants to do on 2 wheels will be done. Maybe in the future but for now he will continue to huck bigger on a 20, until his body says hello,,,, guess what we are old now hahahahah. Happened and continues to me and I was no slouch of a hucker in my day. They consider him the most well rounded rider of all time in bmx, their words, prettty amazing.
  • + 2
@rideitall-bmx-dh-road-unicycle: you can never be sure -maybe he is bender. Around 2000 is was hucking things up to 18 feet with my "urban freerider", but i am pretty sure i would have pussied out on that thing.
  • + 1
Plenty of em ride mtb. Park/DJ skills transfer perfectly to jump lines, the steep stuff is totally different tho@ryanbpoquette:

I think a shout out needs to happen to all the men and women out there welding and installing quality handrails.

It's great whenever a BMX video is so good it gets onto Pinkbike!

Giving the pinkbike community a reality check... this is what you can do on a £900 bike. Now do justify that £9000 bike you can’t really ride.
  • + 1
@thenotoriousmic: yah man plus carbon full Sussers allow people to ride way above their skill level leading to heavy crashes, hence their obsession with helmets
  • + 52
I liked the parts where he wore a helmet

Don’t hate appreciate, growing up most street riders could barely afford their bikes or gear, much less a 5000 dollar mountain bike, bmx grows mad skill plusss you don’t have to have a 5000 dollar super killer carbon bike that will need a stupid amount of maintenance to even keep on the trail...just saying even though I mtb now
  • + 26
@mkotowski1: I think you missed his point.
  • + 8

The end comment sums it up well.. fkg animal! So much skills and so fearless! And I loved the old school atmosphere as well! Wow!!
  • + 28
I hardly reply to much but watching this vid I feel I have to...
totally insane riding !!!!!!!!!!!!
he goes bigger than most of us would EVER consider going,on a bike with 20" wheels, no pads, no shock, no suspension up front, and he's jumping onto pavement and concrete.......

i should just sell all my bikes i'm not worthy
  • + 10
Not to mention a 75° head angle!!
  • + 13
 And no brakes!
  • + 6
 @winko: and no dropper post!
  • + 2
He's a great park rider as well. That's just as crazy.
  • + 2
He's filthy on trails as well @filmdrew:
  • + 19
Plus the mastery of controlling his speed before all those big hits with no brakes. The 20 inch wheels combined with no suspension or brakes makes for some pure effffingg riding. Showing it’s the rider, not the bike, to an extreme.
  • + 17
The last time I was so slack jawed during a bmx seki was Ruben Alcantara's GROUNDED. Holy Sh*T Dennis!

Lots of: roof time, speed, huge drops/gaps and giant risk to reward factor. BONEDEATH!!! for sure. For his first all street part he just set the bar. Lets get an all dirt video next please.
  • + 2
Haha, I came here only to say "Sean Burns is CRAAAAZZY". I can still feel the screams from him wrecking on some of those hits. Sean was the real animal man, his whole "being" was in permanent Full Send, F* Pads
  • + 14
stoked to see this on the front page. if any video deserves its this
  • + 11
So sick. Chuckled a little at the wooden board placed up a curb at 1:43. After all the things he jumped onto?
  • + 1
 needed that manual balance
  • + 10
He's not even using Boost Hubs. He's riding a bike that has the same standards as last year!!!
  • + 11
BMX RULES!!! Don't forget that MTBs. BMX is the standard!
  • + 5
Yah man godfathers of bmx we’re throwing down way crazier stuff than what what was going on in marin
  • + 1
As a long-time BMXer, I really enjoy riding and watching MTB as it's own animal. When BMX falls into becoming too much like skateboarding, it gets diluted and I wonder "why does it even exist anymore?!?". And when MTB gets sucked into being overly-moto or bmx or backcountry ski, I wonder the same thing. But there is a striking uniqueness to MTB and BMX, and when fully celebrated they really stand out on their own.
  • + 9
Just watching that makes my knees and ankles sore. Smile
  • + 7
A lot of sick tricks but 2:03 is the epitome of bike control and probably overlooked by most.
  • + 5
more so than a 6 foot drop onto a handrail? nope
  • + 4
I'm glad they put this vid on here even though I would have seen it on vitalbmx.com. Alot of mtb riders really don't understand how massive these guys go and Enarson is at the top. Everyone come from different backgrounds but you have to respect the hustle in 20" land these days.
  • + 8
Finally, a Pinkbike click bate title that was worth clicking on! Banger!!
  • + 5
I bmx jumped a car off a parking bank, nose to tail, in 1985...but would never imagine adding in a spin or whip into the maneovre. This old man is impressed by his skill and risk management.
  • + 8
this dude makes me want to buy a bmx and really hurt myself
  • + 8
Roof to rail is straight out a video game.
  • + 6
The biggest banger in the vid?............wearing a helmet for most of the tricks!
  • + 2
The only thing better is if it had been in all of the tricks! Not only is it plain silly not to, but when you're this good why not also be a great role model for the kiddies!
  • + 1
@friendlyfoe: what makes you think you know whats better for someone else? I don't think anyone is trying to become your version of a roll model. Ignorant mountain bikers that think they know better passing down judgement is a big part of the reason mtb and bmx stay so separated.
  • + 0
sorry, enlighten me with a situation where hitting your head on the pavement without a helmet is "better for someone else". Derp
  • + 3
@friendlyfoe: I didnt say that. I said that your righteous SJW opinion is irrelevant. Dennis is a professional and clearly makes decisions on safety equipment based on the situations he feels comfortable. There is no safe way to do what he does but still he lives. Having ignorant yuppies like you make equipment decisions for professional athletes seems like the way sports like football ended up sooooo much safer than sports like rugby.
  • + 3
Kinematics, fluid dynamics, full carbon everything, disc brakes, Boost, 26,27.5, 29, eagle this n that, blah blah blah.
Enarson just showed EVERYONE up with a $700 steel 20" BMX bike.
and please, let the down votes flow bitches.
  • + 3
WOW, I was on 20inch from about 95-2008, doing about 10% of that.... An my joints are f*cked.
As others have said, it's amazing that the tech in bmx doesn't need re'inventing every 6 months, just threadless steerers an heat treated tubing in the last 20 years?.........
  • + 7
riding at its highest and burliest level. just wow.
  • + 2
f*ck YES! I have driven past that school on Carlson Blvd in Richmond Annex all my life, and for the last 20 years, been wanting to see footage of a guy dropping off that roof. I heard it was in a BMX videor or something way back, but can anyone verify this?
  • + 2
Hey now! Let' not forget where we are here!
He is not running BOOST in the back and SUPERBOOST in the front. He is using an inferior frame that is not as stiff as the one that will come out next month and his pedals could use a bit of Ti and Mg treatment. Moreover, why is he so good on such an outdated bike built to such caveman standards? I cannot fathom this!

P.S. I am so glad that while MTB is on a decline, BMX still keeps it creative and non-stiff upper lip oriented.
  • + 1
Agree with the top part. But I'd argue it's a lack of interest in bmx that keeps the standards from changing so fast. MTB is exploding from where I'm sittin.
  • + 4
@filmdrew: what’s keeping the standards from changing in bmx is that the entire industry is ran by riders. The only time standards change is if it makes sense like integrated headsets, Threadless stems/ fork.
  • + 0
Bmx is on the decline... mtb is exploding, standards change less because nobody wants to be riding a weird looking bike, companies have tried and failed.
  • + 3
Lately I don't think some of the contests even have big enough features to play to his style of going balistic. he still wins but I miss him gapping half the course on some next line nobody even saw.
  • + 4
tail whip 180 over the fence was smooth as! Slopestyle is really cool but I wonder if the slope guys watch this and then get to work trying to figure how to up their game
  • + 5
The bmx influence has definitely been crossing over more and more with half cabs and fakie tricks. Super rad
  • + 2
The only trick I can think of done first on 26" vs 20" is Sam Pligrim's Windshield Wiper www.youtube.com/watch?v=fete3nbOJNE
  • + 2
Slopestyle needs to allow for more freedom of line, feature, etc. Big air events are obviously favoring a certain someone (who we never see riding street).
  • + 6
@adrennan: Dirt jumping contests originated in the 80's as events called "King of Dirt" in between the motos and mains at bmx races. Dirt jumping developed from that to be it's own sport which took off in the 90's. During that time, pro dirt jumpers Tim "Fuzzy" Hall and TJ Lavin started experimenting with jumping 26" bikes, which launched a whole new market for 26" wheel jump bikes that were labeled as mtn bikes. In the 00's some progressive bmx courses were built downhill, with wooden features and drops. Some clever mtn bike industry people took this concept and called it "mtb slopestyle". So slopestyle really evolved completely from bmx. The only involvement mtn biking has had is to brand it and sell you overpriced, heavy, flexy, unnecessary contraptions. The act of riding a bike off a jump IS itself bmx, no matter what you've been sold to do it on. BMX is an act, not a type of bike.
  • + 4
@Grmasterd: hate to burst your bubble but Matt Sparks did the first windshield wiper over a decade ago.
youtu.be/Fy8O1zHF_4M
  • + 1
@PHeller: Thinking the same thing. Snowboard slopestyle events have multiple line choice, which can invite more creativity vs. huck fest.
  • + 6
Once again, bmx places it's nuts directly on the chin of mtb.
  • + 1
If you like this, watch Mile high Cinema with Garrett Reynolds, Nathan Williams and Chad Kerley(movies for your Monday this week ). Dennis and these 3 guys basically performed this video live last week at x games and tore through everybody. Nathan really stands out these days, though. If you're watching BMX, watch Garrett, Dennis, and Nathan primarily, with some Devon Smillie, Broc, etc for good measure. That's a great place to start and get caught up.
  • + 1
I still think deadline was garrets best part
  • + 1
Some things that he does are complitly insane I have butterflies in my ba%%s only thinking if some things goes wrong.
He must have coil knees and the only bike material that can handle that treatment are cromoly .
One thing He does jumps and drops with no suspension bmx 20" wheel that are extreme for a full suspension 8" bike.
Will the bike gurus sell to bmx´s and dirt riders 29" wheel bikes ???????
  • + 1
Wow! All on a BMX thats no different to any other BMX. No fancy suspension settings, geometry numbers or any of the other things we worry about.. just wheels, handlebars and raw skill! I'd love to know how many bones he's broken so far though.
  • + 3
This is definitely the type of riding where I would not use suspension at all
  • + 1
I remember when we used to say "that'll be a big trick when he 360s it" and now the kids are all going 180 on that shit! Or popping a 180 and going off it backwards. It's sick! I love it.
  • + 1
The motocross influence on mountain biking is never more apparent than when you strip it down...and watch videos like these. No kit...no submission to a marketing juggernaut.. pure balance!
  • + 4
Those double tire rides were fucked.
  • + 4
Is this why they call us mountaingays??...
  • + 1
Most definitely some of the biggest and techiest line I've ever seen on a 20. I'm nailing that 20+ foot roof drop and riding out smooth makes you rethink what's really possible on two wheels.
Absolute incredible riding!
  • + 4
 Ankles of steel!!
  • + 1
He's really mastered this bike ish. Winning medals in street, park and dirt. He's so calculated and smooth. I'll never understand how he double tire rides all those rails.

Brilliant, totally in awe. That Woody Harrelson can be a bud smoking movie star and so sick at BMX blows my mind!

Hands of bike industry! I like my BMX the way it is. I can build a bike up using only a handful of basic tools and can take any part off of any high end BMX bike and put it on any other with no issues. I love what modern mountain bikes make possible, but the simplicity of BMX has it's own beauty that I wouldn't change for the world.
  • + 1
@gibspaulding: Preach brother. Leave BMX alone. There are some cool things happening with the race bikes but having the abilities to use your body parts to cushion impacts is what makes BMX amazing.
