Sorry about the video cutting off before the end guys.... something went wrong with exporting, being on the road in europe i didnt have time to re export and upload... was a monster of a file to upload. You didnt miss much, just more mouth breathing and dribbling haha. Much love

MY GOD so epic! The helicopter makes this feel like an action movie. Just imagine the bad guys chasing behind trying to shoot at RAT and Loosedog and ride at the same time but they loose their balance and crash into a tree...and explode.

I appreciate the lack of complaining on this video, looks like a fucking good time out there boys
  • + 1
I also like how friendly they are (especially Rat - probably cause he's got most of the air time) towards other riders, even while out of breath and obviously competing.

 “Suck it ya lil f*cka!”

Some seriously bad ass shit. The Mega is SICK! Where is your coverage PinkBike?
  • + 5
clearly marginated for such a big show.. also MOH even more.... some events that could compete against Rampage into the mainstream.... but mtb media turns rhe head around..
  • + 3
@PauRexs: not enoug money to be made in this.
  • + 12
Pinkbike dropped the Ball massively here. No coverage, no bike checks, no athlete interviews, practically nothing at all. Megavalanche is ine of the marquis events of our sport. The helmet cam vids from this event are by far the most entertaining moutain bike media I’ve seen in a while. So insane!
  • + 1
I'm sure they could do more bike checks and such on the course but logistically it would be a huge undertaking to try and cover a race course as large as this one.

What PB needs to do is to send a man to the field. All week, riding, taking pictures, filming, and resuming the day every night for us The Mega is much more than just the race,it's a week of riding alpine trails, sliding on snow, arm pump, burning brake pads, sunburn, mechanicals, altitude sickness, and everything in between. It can't be covered well enough from the outside. Gotta do it.
  • + 1
@nozes: absolutely!!! Ball dropped. This event is huge! Sick POV vids to be seen on YouTube.

The question is why ( PB & RB) don t do it... They know for years all what we are commenting here... This event could be nearly as mainstream as Rampage... The problem being racing for years on this competitions I would say is the comformity of the organizator... and their obsession into control every detail of their own creation... They go there do their job and get paid... They ve done it and try it allready to go more mainstream for so many years that now they got conformed and won t move easly...
  • + 1
@PauRexs: please, no Red Bull there, i beg you!
  • + 2
@Muckal: why?? They seem to be the only ones right now to have the budget and the experience for a proper live event.
  • + 1
@PauRexs: because it's good the way it is.
  • + 14
Sam Dale must have been going mach 10 to pass Ratboy @2.35 after stacking it in the 1st corner
  • + 2
And the over-the-stream takeover by Loose - can't find it now but it was epic.
  • + 13
Did this race a few years ago. It was the only thing on my my bucket list.
  • + 20
So like Loris you’ll be stoked if you die now.
  • + 12
I did it 7 times. It's always on my bucket list.
  • + 5
 @nozes: beast
  • + 3
@nozes: i wanted to Do it once too. Was there for the fifth time in a row this year Smile
  • + 1
@Muckal: Welcome to the Mega-addicted club Wink
  • + 1
@nozes: if you like Alpe d'huez, you should try Reunion, it's a great time also.
Every year i think of taking a mega-pause, until the beginning of january Smile
  • + 1
@Muckal: That's way out of my budget, unfortunately. Smile
  • + 1
@Linkpin: haha, welll... I would like to do it a few more times.
  • + 12
Great footage but that camera needs to be turned up a bit.
  • + 12
It was already turned up to 11...
  • + 1
I know right! Ratboy has one of the best attitudes, great style, and skills to match... except for Gopro angle adjustment. Drives me bonkers watching the "camera pointed just a few degrees off" footage.
  • + 8
Kept feeling the need to lift my head.
  • + 2
Fuck all that pedaling...damn Rat's got some legs on him...I would've given up on that pedal right about after he was handed that drink, even with all the support of the fans. Now that top part...fuckin hell, glad you boys made it alive goin that fast!

after a couple of years off the mega - I now decided to enter for 2019! yeeeehh bois
  • + 4
If you listen closely at the two minute mark, you can hear Deakin screaming as he hits the snowbank.
  • + 2
Haha, just what I was thinking!
  • + 1
15 years ago in the paper era this event had better coverage than it has now. These are the roots of enduro in the original format, right there. We used to call it mountainbiking.
  • + 3
I’ved watched this video about 6x. I love the type of racing and boys are a hoot.
  • + 8
I think for those 4 1/2 hours you could have gone for a ride. ;-)
  • + 1
Great vid, did this 5 years ago and the course still looks roughly the same, that uphill bit around 24 mins in is the killer . . . .!!!
  • + 3
Running of the bulls for mountain bikers.
  • + 1
 yes
  • + 3
bike checks? and a few interviews with veterans...at least that pb!
  • + 2
Video cuts off before the finish line. Still much better than I was expecting.
  • + 3
THAT START!! Soo lucky to have just squeezed by~ WOW
  • + 0
Nice video but Rat's helmet cam points down too much. We would have had a nicer perspective if it had been at the right angle like loose's
  • + 1
That corner where the guy flew in front of Ratboy and crashed is known for taking tons of people out near the beginning.
  • + 1
 Is there a “results page”?
  • + 6
Its not trivial to find. And coverage is pretty bad, sadly.
Here you go: www.timingzone.com/megavalanche-alpe-dhuez-2018/#1_BD6E72

@nekislav: thank you. I’m not sure why someone neg propped you. Funny in the results it has Bryceland and Sam Dale listed as frenchies (FRA). Cedric must have signed them up for registration
  • + 3
More sad is that if you want to book something outside of huez or just in general what isn't a hotel you really need to understand and speak enough french. Also the paperwork for the mega isn't that good. Like any other MTB event in France except the Mega is the best if you can't speak French haha.
  • + 2
 WOOOOW...brutal :O
  • + 2
Will love to race it .
  • + 2
 Dags, ya I like dags
  • + 1
So who won this event? Cannot find on Google.
  • + 3
Damien Oton. Check out his POV footage on yt. Well worth it!
  • + 3
@nekislav: Check out this crash on first turn, the rider went all like "Brakes are for pussies"

Didn't end that well Big Grin
