All year the QECP Trail collective have been hard at work building and maintaining the mountain bike trials at Queen Elizabeth country park, Hampshire, UK. It was time for something a bit different. TIME TO RIDE!!!!
We needed to do some testing of a track for next year’s events. So a mate’s race was decided the best way to do it. Lots of the collective turned out as well as friends from Stoughton DH and Gravity Project.
We got the stopwatches out and rope in some volunteers (Injured mountain bikers). With 1 minute gaps between the riders everyone lined up at the start ready for some winter slip & slide fun.
The atmosphere was great with seasoned racers rubbing shoulders with first timers. Everyone was have a great day.
This Track will be used in parts of the DH and Gravity Enduro races in the summer. Look like they will both be great events. There is lots of work to be done by the Collective to get the tracks ready for the summer. Going on the trail building results of 2012 they will relish the challenge.
We had the best weather that this December had to offer, we even had some sun with only 10mins of rain at lunch time.
Everyone was making the most of the dry day.
Track held up well thought the day.
Line choice was key.
Riders were setting some great times.
The results were interesting with almost everyone improving thought the day and of course there were winners!!!
Fastest time of the day was Paul with 1min 17secs.
Happy New Year everyone and it’s a busy 2013 for QECP.
