Taj was quite the badass too. im still riding one of his original Terrible 1 frames from like '99. it will probably outlast every other bike i will ever own.
  • 2 1
He's still one of the most badass dudes to grace this earth with his presence.

At which point in that story did he think maybe it's not a good idea to proceed? Was it the $10,000 in cash? The unapproved treatment? No anesthesia? Helping the Doctor with the drill bit? The yellow marrow coming out? I'm glad it worked out for him though.

Mat's injury list from the film the Birth of big air :-

I remember reading his whole injury list in BMX Plus in like '94 or so. the list took up a whole magazine page.

I don't know how the dudes alive after all those concussions

^ You can have very minor concussions (which I expect is what most of his were given the number) without as serious consequences. I'd be shocked if he didn't have long term affects like Pastrana will... the price they pay to push their sport is wild.

Funny.... My nephew was named after Taj. Do to the fact that my brother in law was a BMX guy. My sister didn't have much say in it. Not sure if nephew is going to ride bikes or draw now.....

So feel sorry for all the people at River View who use those trails, once again some stuffy old council 'officals' who have no life, are intent on spoiling it for everyone else. It's a bit like that here in the uk at some (not all) local spots, then again most of the time especially where I live, it always involves at least a 40 min' drive to go ride. Sometimes up to 2hrs, but like you guys we all love it, so a little road trip adds a bit to the day. Hope it gets sorted, good luck!

Hopefully they will be able to get this decision overturned. They're definitely pursuing this matter in the best way, focusing on access to trails for the entire community, not just the mountain bikers. Personally i feel illegal camping, fires and forest parties would be a more pressing matter but what the hell do i know i'm just a mountain biker.

Superficial environmentalism and bigotry. Plenty of that where I live too.

This kind of thing just really grinds my gears the wrong way. Sure mountain bikers can be misunderstood, but in many ways this is a result of attracting a different demographic than the regular hiking/camping crowd. This is a good thing because the more people we have advocating for land preservation and the environment in general the more we all win. Its shortsighted to cut all of these people off from a true gem of a local trail-system and even more disheartening to see it was done with little public or scientific evidence. Get it together Portland!

I was in Portland for a UBI Course back in 2013, and was amazed that for such a bike friendly city, mountain biking had little to no part in that. I had a great time there but realized later that Ashland would have been a better choice for my time. While I did enjoy two trips out to Sandy Ridge, it is a shame that mountain bikers have been sidelined and pushed out of city limits. Good luck ladies and gents with your struggle!

When was the last time Amanda Fritz went hiking? She does not look like the type of person who would go on a long walk!

Keep the updates coming Charlie, and keep us informed of what we can do. Thank you for organizing the event on the 16th.

Keep up the good fight!

I love how the council bureaucrats cite hypothetical user conflict and trail damage to justify their case when the evidence isn't there. Good luck with your fight.

It makes me so mad when people get upset or try to ban mountain biking, its ridiculous! FIGHT THE POWER!!! Just ride, if anyone did try to enforce it, they probably wouldn't catch you on a bike anyways.
  • 2 0
AMEN!!! Go tell it on a mountain.....

 WE ARE BLOOD
That trailer was absolutely perfect!
I can relate to where he says near the end..."even if you used to skate but now you work"
I grew up skating as a young teen and early twenty and man....now that I'm a dad, I still have a pile of respect for guys that skateboard. I find myself clapin to guys at a park that do a cool trick that may not necessarily be the most super crazy hard trick but I know what it takes to ride a skateboard and not everyone can.
It's a brotherhood just the same as biking.
And that's cool
Can't wIt to watch the movie
