So it's 2015 and Whistler is just opening for riding...

Whistler Bike Park opening day 2015
Wait a minute... It's summer time!

Whistler Bike Park opening day 2015
  That means, BEERS and BIKES!

Whistler Bike Park opening day 2015
Get your bike all tuned up, because...

Whistler Bike Park opening day 2015
Patrol has done their sweep, and it's time to open this mountain up!

Whistler Bike Park opening day 2015
Scan your pass. Oh yeah, new sweet system. Only bad part is, you will miss chatting with the scanner staff. Also you need a pocket, or I guess you can use it to stuff your underwear (though a sock would work better).

Whistler Bike Park opening day 2015
  Load 'em up.

Whistler Bike Park opening day 2015
  First riders up.

Whistler Bike Park opening day 2015
  First riders down!

Whistler Bike Park opening day 2015
And now...The bikes, and their people. Here is Stephen Exley, Intense M9.

Whistler Bike Park opening day 2015
George Amos with his Zerode G2. Zero derailleurs.

Whistler Bike Park opening day 2015
Remi Gauvin with his Rocky Mountain. I have seen it, but would be shot if I tried to take a photo of it.

Whistler Bike Park opening day 2015
Tanya Crocker, a Rocky Mountain Flatline I am allowed to take a photo of.

Whistler Bike Park opening day 2015
Terry Hauk, Team Loudenterprise. Santa Cruz V-10.

Whistler Bike Park opening day 2015
The man himself. Jason Louden, with his amazing dog. And the muddy Canfield.

Whistler Bike Park opening day 2015
  Laurie Citynski, Canfield Jedi.

Whistler Bike Park opening day 2015
Steve Wong, Canfield... I think that is all of the Canfields in Canada.

Whistler Bike Park opening day 2015
Maddie Leger, Giant Glory. This is Maddie's 1st-year riding! Martha Marquez, Specialized Demo.

Whistler Bike Park opening day 2015
Hannah Johnson, the bright yellow Knolly.

Whistler Bike Park opening day 2015
  Michelle Weekly, Kona Supreme.

Whistler Bike Park opening day 2015
  Paoca Ricci, Norco Aurum.

Whistler Bike Park opening day 2015
Will Snell, Transition TR450. Flat quickly repaired by Loudenterprise at the Pinkbike tent.

Whistler Bike Park opening day 2015
  Jaci Hayden, slick green Pivot.

Whistler Bike Park opening day 2015
Kreuter Sylvain, Kona Supreme Operator. PHOTOBOMB!

Whistler Bike Park opening day 2015
  Seth Sherlock, Intense M16.

Whistler Bike Park opening day 2015
This guy took off before I could get his name. So I will call him Fanny Pack Guy aka Judd de Vall.

Whistler Bike Park opening day 2015
  Intermission....

Whistler Bike Park opening day 2015
Back to it! The Claw is stoked.

Whistler Bike Park opening day 2015
Georgius Minnius, "WHITE V-10 BABY Big Grin " (just as he wrote it).

Whistler Bike Park opening day 2015
Cody Jorgensen, Giant Trance. From Maple Ridge up to ride with his friend, Matthew Stein and his Santa Cruz from Whistler.

Whistler Bike Park opening day 2015
  Alice Matthews, Devinci Frantik.

Whistler Bike Park opening day 2015
  Rohan V., GT Fury.

Whistler Bike Park opening day 2015
  Julie Bertrand, Norco Aurum.

Whistler Bike Park opening day 2015
  Jack Iles, Norco Aurum.

Whistler Bike Park opening day 2015
Finn Iles, Lapierre. Got my fingers crossed that he can keep his Whistler Whip King title.

Whistler Bike Park opening day 2015
Ryan Armstrong, with his hand Sharpied Santa Cruz V-10.

Whistler Bike Park opening day 2015
Even the trail crew got out to enjoy their handiwork.

Whistler Bike Park opening day 2015
  Jaclyn Delacroix, Muddbunnies, Giant Glory.

Whistler Bike Park opening day 2015
  The Claw.

Whistler Bike Park opening day 2015
  Team Cycles Devinci.

Whistler Bike Park opening day 2015
Drew and Jon Mozell made the quick trek from North Van to enjoy opening day.

Whistler Bike Park opening day 2015

Whistler Bike Park opening day 2015
Let's top it off with a little bit of riding.

Whistler Bike Park opening day 2015
Get all cleaned up and ready for the next day.

Im i the only one who finds the after ride/messy hair look on girls to be stupidly sexy?
  • 59 3
I am proud to say.... no you aren't Smile
  • 45 1
Probably harder to find a guy on here that doesn't like that look.
  • 42 2
Am I the only one who thinks that girls who ride FR/DH are like unicorns and would do anything to wife one? Big Grin
  • 43 1
Awww, you guys are precious! Because here's us girls, fretting over our helmet hair! At least it gives us an excuse to wear cute apres hats to the bar for beers :-)
  • 6 1
Nope not alone love messy hair
  • 7 1
I just pulled one from your available supplies this morning, sorry bud! No hard feelings, right?
  • 1 1
 Me like & u like
  • 31 1
Am I the only one who thinks TLD now makes clown outfits?
  • 18 0
Treading the fine line between Pajama's and Clown Costumes isn't easy...
  • 4 2
 They look rather ridiculous
  • 1 0
 what helmet is berrecloth wearing?
  • 1 3
Can't confirm. I have no clue what "stupidly sexy" means.

where were the hot girls? i must have missed them
  • 1 0
I don't know able you but I'd follow Hannah down the trail on that sexy knolly all day long.
  • 3 0
 women look great at natural
  • 1 0
 Really sweet!!!
  • 89 1
I'd love if Pinkbike did a feature similar to one they did a few years back, where over the course of a day, they checked 100 bikes, took down notes of all parts they found, and did up graphs showing the most common/popular bikes, forks, shocks, groupo, wheels etc. It made for interesting reading! Big Grin
  • 11 0
Was thinking that myself. Would be really interesting to see the change from then to now
  • 8 0
Agreed, Pinkbike needs to do this again.
  • 43 0
We did again this year, it will be up on the site soon
  • 75 1
good to see Steve Smith back on his bike!

flag RedBurn (May 3, 2015 at 9:29) (Below Threshold)
yes, but for how long... Whistler is so "smooth" now with facelifts, in comparaison with WC tracks, lets hope his ankle is back at 100% !
  • 10 3
@RedBurn: I got what you are saying, and know you meant no bad ode, but you will offend the sensitivities of a lot of wankers (North American Type) on this web site with comments like that. Steve Smith will come back to WC racing when he is ready and will kick ass, so if he needs a bike park to hone is skills then good on him! I can't wait to have him back in the line-up, but there are those who feel that they have to defend his integrity even though they do not know him personally or professionally! To those 20 who neg propped RedBurn: How do you know that Mr. Smith disagrees with Mr RedBurn? If Steve Doesn't care, why do you?
  • 9 0
There are tracks in Whistler that aren't A line. Steep tracks. scary tracks. tracks that make me wet my bed at night. Or so I've been told....
  • 6 1
Their are plenty of rough tracks at Whistler , enough to keep RedBurn happy if wants to visit!
  • 2 0
There are for now, but even the likes of upper detroit and joyride have seen the filling in of holes, removing of roots, and where did that big wooden stepdown on lower Joyride go? That put a few hairs on my chest, and creaks in my knee..
  • 70 3
So sick too see so many girls on the mtn shredding too
  • 51 3
I belive PinkBike just captured every girl in Whistler.
  • 10 2
what he said and the photog only talked to ppl he knew and girls
  • 4 0
 I didn't see Claire Buchar's smile Frown
  • 6 2
You guys beat me to it. Whistler looks like a smoke show.
  • 38 0
Thank the lord that Rocky Mountain is redesigning the flatline. Long overdue.
  • 8 0
 #notaflatline
  • 14 0
That prototype has been around for ages, though.
  • 2 1
^Not the carbonium one though... things are in the works.
  • 2 0
They are taking their sweet time with it. Going on 3 years.... It better be kick ass when it finally does arrive.
  • 1 0
The thing is if they have a carbon bike that means it's ready for production because carbon molds can reach 50 000 dollars so carbon frames are the final angles for the bike so I wonder why it's taking so long
  • 1 0
^How long have you been seeing the carbon model around for? Not long, I'm guessing.
  • 36 1
let the jealousy and Remy Metailler videos begin....
  • 27 2
How cool is it to be called ROHAN and ride with FURY?
One does not simply ride into Mordor jokes come on ahahaha
  • 13 0
Its not even a fury its a force haha, the fury is the DH and that is the enduro type one
  • 3 0
named Rohan, ridding a Force for enduro and a canfield Jedi for DH, that would be cool...I'll show myself out Frown
  • 23 1
That sharpied Santa cruz is awesome.
  • 7 2
Ya that was quite an eye catcher. Love those older v10s.
  • 6 0
 cheers dawg, thats my beast
  • 22 2
No offence but that tld camo kit is fugly. Wouldn't even wear it if i got it for free.
  • 12 2
Rather ride in skinny jeans. And I fuckin' hate skinny jeans.
  • 1 0
Hey, jeans don't have to be skinny, just a pair of slim jeans so that you get no bite marks, that's all Smile
P.S. I get it Big Grin
  • 21 1
The Claw has never had a bike that didn't look sexy.
  • 14 0
 and a plaid shirt
  • 35 17
Thanks for the photo, but first of all, my name is Seth Sherlock. Second of all, it's an m16, not an m6. Thanks PB, great photo Smile
  • 110 21
 Check your tone son.
  • 23 5
Thanks Pinkbike for fixing it! Pumped to be on the list! Smile
  • 11 5
How did u get an m16 already
  • 36 8
Cuts his daddy loves him lots and lots
  • 12 3

Good follow up post Seth. That's the right attitude. I don't hate you for having an M16 at such a young age regardless of how you got it. I hope to give my son the same opportunities you have been given. I don't care if I have to take the bus to work, nothing is more important than the bike my son rides.

Yeah, I'd be a f*cking pro rider too, if my dad has bought me 10k DH rig at the age of 12...
  • 44 1
 No. You probably wouldn't.
  • 31 3
There is nothing wrong with the tone. He wrote thanks twice and matter-of-factly pointed out 2 errors.
  • 3 0
@sethsherlock I hope my son has the opportunities that you have had I just need to find my way out of TX and back to CO!
  • 4 0
@pooler thanks for the link. This kid's skill set is the only thing enviable here, good for him. I think he made his correction politely enough. Keep on slaying, Seth!
  • 3 2
Was going to comment on how you can afford a bike I could never afford, and I'm 32... :-(. But you deserve to shred now before wife and family duties take over muahahahah
  • 2 2
Looks like Seths "daddy" is Intense Cycles, and since he is one of their sponsored riders, I guess he doesn't have to afford it...
  • 21 0
Sorry, I meant no disrespect in my response. I love Pinkbike and all they have done for me. I was simply correcting the facts that my name is not Sam, it is Seth, and my bike is not an M6, it is the brand new M16. My father did not buy me the bike, I am sponsored by Intense Cycles and have been for 2 years. Thanks to Intense for sending me the bike, it rides amazingly and I love it!
  • 19 1
So zerode means zero derailleur...MIND FREAK
  • 18 1
Claw still has an old Demo, interesting
  • 28 1
Im guessing he prefers the 26" bike for freeride antics
  • 17 3
the Claw just rides...like Chuck Norris...he is not worrying about wheel sizes Wink
  • 19 2
 Tippie photobomb was hilarious!
  • 13 0
That GT force is not a Fury I'm sorry to say...
  • 15 2
 Yea Canfield!
  • 3 1
Don't worry canfield and everyone else, I have built up a 2015 jedi, and planning to head to silverstar opening weekend!
  • 2 0
2 Canfield were busy racing the Sunshine Coast Enduro today
  • 9 1
I have a hard time believing this place exists in the real world sometimes.
  • 2 0
 @deepo1

the place is f*cking rad, I've had the privilege of taking 3 vacations in Whistler Smile
  • 10 1
 No hardtails?
  • 7 3
Nice topic, but there`s something which i don`t like a bit... Why so many riders are overweight even from a young age... that is no good people, get out and get fit, eat clean, be healthy.. And stay away from the fast foods...
  • 2 0
I believe the correct term is Нерез. Big Grin
  • 8 1
Fanny pack guy is Judd Duval, owner operator of Alpine Bike Parks.
  • 3 0
+ 1 and fast as f*ck. Good day up there guy? Recovering ok?
  • 9 1
 You mean... M16
  • 7 1
Sooo wishing I was in whistler right now
  • 5 0
Has that drop in several photos changed dramatically? Didn't it used to have quite a gap and be further?
  • 7 0
I now refer to it as the GLC wheelchair ramp......mind you the GLC legal liabilty waiver has a nice ring to it!
  • 2 0
Might be a liability thing for big wheel rental bikes. The rear wheel doesn't roll off the edge as soon as you'd expect if you're used to 26s. So to keep everyone happy there's an anti endo ramp
  • 7 1
That TLD camo kit is one of the ugliest things I have ever seen.
  • 4 0
I've been going to the wrong bike park all along...I have never seen that many women riders at Big Bear in one entire season...
  • 5 0
Id really like to see those rocky mountain prototypes release soon
  • 5 0
I got a pretty good look at them and they are definitely sexy machines
  • 5 0
Beautiful ladies on bikes. It just doesn't get better.
  • 1 2
Well, the ladies on the beach at newport were ballin pretty hard today...what else is new
  • 1 0
Trail report day 2....blue skies, 19 degrees. Dirt merchant is at its best. No braking bumps, super smooth and tacky. All the takeoffs and trannies are dialled in. Best I have ever seen it. Ever. Aline closed all day. Angry pirate is wicked. Never ridden it in such amazing condition. Super tight, flowy and techy. Top of crank it up was closed for maintenance. New RFID pass system works great! Thanks whistler for opening up early!!
  • 1 0
Correct me if i am wrong, but Whistler isn`t opening a bit late every year? Isn`t there still a lot of snow? Here we can`t open our regular bike resorts because there`s still a plenty of snow, 3metres at some places in the mountain and we are not able even to get close to the trails. How was the winter season in Whistler this year?.
  • 7 3
OH! I wanna see the Tippie's video
  • 5 1
Is that one kid in camo hip waders?
  • 3 0

Am i the ONLY one that has picked it.

  • 8 1
He won that shit? Jesus, it looks more like he lost a bet and had to wear that clown suit as the consequence
  • 2 0
So I guess the best choice to ride in park is downhill bike? How would handle the terrain bikes with shorter suspension...not to say enduro bikes Razz
  • 1 0
Stoked to see the season kicking off. I am currently living in TX but have a trip to Angel Fire New Mexico planned for the 22-25 May. I need a rocky Mountain fix and can't wait! I will make it to Whistler one day.
