PRESS RELEASE: Mount Washington Bike Park and the Dunbar Summer Series
Mount Washington Bike Park and the Dunbar Summer Series are honoured to host the return of Steve Smith Memorial BC Cup Finals. This event, set the weekend after the end to the World Cup season and supported by both Dunbar and Corsa Cycles, is going to be on-of-a-kind for a Cycling BC, BC Cup Final. Hosted by Brett Tippie, and with many of Stevie's friends, family, and competitors already confirmed such as Mark Wallace, Forrest Riesco and Magnus Manson, look for this event to be one of the best races of 2019.

 | Stevie brought so much enthusiasm and fun to his racing, inspiring an entire generation of Canadians to get between the tape. This event is an integral part of keeping not just his memory alive, but his infectious desire to race his bike on the best courses the Island has to offer. This race can be a rollercoaster of emotions from sadness, remembering we lost Steve so young, to belly-busting laughs hearing stories from racers, parents, and fans. The most important part, to me, is to create an event that pulls us together to share our tears, our laughter, and our stories of one of Canada's best pure downhill racers. Steve will never truly be gone as he will never be forgotten by those who got to meet him. |
The Dunbar Summer Series is sanctioned by Cycling BC and is part of the BC Cup Downhill Series of events...
| I absolutely love being a part of hosting this event alongside Stephen and Mount Washington. The atmosphere and vibe that the Dunbar Series brings to the weekend is unbelievable. You won't want to miss out on this race...whether you are a novice rider, a pro racer, or a spectator...everyone is welcome and will have a ton of fun! Make sure you stop by and say 'HI' to me. Bring along any “Stevie” story you have...I would love to hear them all! |

| The Stevie Smith Memorial DH is happening once again at Mt. Washington and it is going to be epic as always! The track is challenging to go fast on, the views amazing and the best mtn bikers in Western Canada will be gathered to compete in their prospective classes. This race represents everything Stevie stood for...going fast, taking chances, braving any weather and having fun with your fellow riders. It is inspiring to meet Stevie’s mom (and perhaps win one of Stevie’s jerseys), as well as have a chance to win some great swag that Stephen Exley has collected to give away. The bike park is amazing and fun to ride and I will be on the mic to entertain all that come to the Stevie Smith Memorial! |

Part of our family was taken from us when Stevie left, but this race lets us know that his memory will live on in all of us chasing that clock. Stevie is the only racer I'd wake up at ,2am and watch his race runs live. He gave everything to his progression and helped Mark Wallace push himself to where he is now
