The 2017 Canadian National DH Championships presented by the Dunbar Summer Series took place this past weekend at Panorama Mountain Resort. It's been four years since Panorama hosted Nationals and last time Canada’s fastest racers vied for the title on these slopes we saw Steve Smith take the coveted jersey back in 2013. Now under the wing of SE Racing, after eight years of putting on downhill races in BC, this years National Championships promised to be more of an event than ever, from kids races, to swag tosses and Saturday night long jump contests, the spirit of downhill racing in Canada was set to live on and Canada’s fastest male and female races would walk away wearing their countries colours. With a course that's been tweaked over the years and input from several racers it was set to be eventful race, features such as “dollar signs” and “cliffs of insanity” would provide their fair share of thrills and spills for both spectators and racers alike, especially in the hot and dry summer conditions riddling the province with wildfires.
