 What a dream!!!
Is anybody not jeallous?
  • + 52
as hell! please adopt me van steenbergen family!
  • + 112
Beeing milionaire at the beginning helps tho
  • + 13
Moving to bc when I'm older no questions asked.
  • + 40
And I thought just growing up in BC helped the top guys. Apparently the next step is to have your own bike park and air bag and multi-acre dream land that dad buys. I know...i'm salty and jealous.
  • + 54
@RedBurn: I've noticed that a lot of professional athletes in more niche sports (random Olympic sports, mountain biking, skiing, etc.) always seem to come from rich families. I guess it makes sense... most Average Joes can't afford to dedicate all of their time to a sport that doesn't necessarily make a lot of $$, plus the gear and coaching and travel costs while growing up are far too expensive for most families.
  • + 2
@bull-dozer: yeah exactly .... If his parents were not rich they would never have received the Canadian Nationality. There re only 2 ways to become canadian: 1) you have a lot a money and you invest it in the country economy 2) your job is useful for canada (engineer, doctor, etc) and you work there.. His father might be engineer but I doubt he d have that much time to give to his children haha ... They're lucky !!
  • + 18
Yes, I'm not jealous of living in the parents' basement as an adult.
  • + 14
Anyone know if there is a hot sister in that family? Going off his mum she would probably be rather attractive
  • - 2
 @RedBurn: his parents are millionarios?
  • + 15
Fuck being jealous. Work hard. Spend less on weed, booze, vacations, etc. Buy property. Build jumps.
  • + 6
This photo epic has got me more stoked to ride than any other!
  • + 23
@RedBurn: everyone has the right to make comments about him coming from a "rich family" or whatever, but at the end of the day hard work, dedication, and passion is what get top athletes like Tom to the top. There are plenty of mega talented top riders from all sorts of backgrounds. Stevie Smith is a great example of someone who definitely didn't have "millionaire parents". So who cares how much money their families have or don't have, these guys are out there entertaining and inspiring us, and it's f*ckin rad.
  • + 0
 @RedBurn: Tom's good bro, but I don't think he's a millionaire at 20 or whatever he is.
But let's just lend credence to your statement to play devil's advocate for a moment.... How many of the best riders were rich 'at the beginning'? Probably not many, so the logic is lacking.
  • + 4
@RedBurn: canada wants engineers you say....
  • + 1
@vicrider: I believe he means that they have rich parents
  • + 2
@wiscobiker: I'm definitely interested, does it matter if they suck at engineering, and work in general?
  • + 1
@unrooted: I don't know what you think I meant but I'm just saying I'd like to move to canada and I'm an engineer...
  • + 68
HOLY STEEZE that's a rad friggin house
  • + 44
My parents bought me a huffy one time.
  • + 5
me too but it was for my birthday and christmas... my ccm heat was expensive as hell (220$)
  • + 21
Tom is such a sick rider. Really well made video. I wish i had parents that would let me build a dirt jump park in my backyard
  • + 16
It's nice to see privilege actually being put to use, versus being from a well-off family and just drinking/partying/driving expensive cars. Tom and Bas work hard for their continued success, but having the support helped make things happen.
  • + 3
If my parents were rich then I would be an even more useless POS! Thanks parents for being poor!
  • + 20
 O - Canada!
  • + 15
Being rich doesn't make you a good rider... (if that is true that they are rich, I have no idea and I dont care)
If you had a million dollars you wouldn't be half as good as Tom...You kids are whack...You either have it or you don't... end rant... Sick riding Tom!

Most likely their dad is super talented at whatever he does, so good genetics and a good work ethic...

"There was a dream that was Tom van Steenberger's home. You could only whisper it. Anything more than a whisper and it would vanish, it was so fragile." - Marcus aurelius

"My parents are definitely super stoked on having jumps in the yard" now that's something you don't hear every day
  • + 1
One of those jumps would take up my entire yard, and I have the biggest yard in my block!!! I keep telling my wife that I'm going to turn our yard into a pump/jump track.
  • + 13
i really hope his rampage run works out this year -- he's got what it takes to win. dude is a beast.
  • + 11
Holy sh*t those jumps are massive
  • + 5
@shimano you guys killed it again with another "this is home" short film. The cinematography, music and voiceover is brilliant and being a photo guy really has me in awe of the work Rob did here. I love the way the collage is put together with the quotes here in this article. I need to work on my advanced layouts for future articles myself now. Thanks for sharing the talents of your riders and the creative artists that you partner with!!

I knew his grandparents, however, want to build a small house in Virgin, Utah, 50 meters from the start of the Rampage ... so the grandchildren are happy to visit them ..
  • + 7
 Those images are incredible
  • + 1
yes love that superman pic with the sunlight casting a glow
  • + 6
VOY? What better place than the okanagan??
  • + 6
Love the pic of a young Tom with Stevie Smith!
  • + 1
No need to work, having pretty much no kind of problems in your life and spend most of your time in the day with what you love most(biking in this case) makes you better and for sure he has an advantage like any other rich but at the same time talented young guy. Though , his talent on what he does is more than obvious. Guys like Semenuk,Tom etc one way or another are going to be on the top of this sport just because they have that talent and spark. Great video and holly shit of great riding.
  • + 4
Sad seeing most comments are about money than about the riding. Tom kills it, no questions asked.
  • + 4
To live in a riding paradise like that really is the dream, I'd never want to leave my yard!
  • + 4
any spare rooms in your house mate?
  • + 1

Time to find me a sugarmommy
  • + 4
Hey Tom, do you wan't to adopt me? please Smile

The word backyard has just been redefined. It's got definetly nothing to do with some lousy yards at the back of your house...
  • + 2
BIG WHITE! how long before those gargantuan jumps start taking names? Wonder if/how long they will be open to the public?
