Juvenile racer Joe Parfitt from South Wales signs for Wideopenmag. Now remember that name as Jamie Edwards from Wideopenmag seems to have a knack for discovering new talent on the U.K scene and developing them into future World Cup racers. Jamie first brought on through the ranks another young gun from South Wales, Taylor Vernon of GT Factory Racing. Then more recently Laurie Greenland who signed this summer with Martin Whiteley's 23 Degrees Sports Management and then the announcement earlier this week that Laurie would join Trek World Racing for the 2014 season and beyond.
Joe will primarily be racing the 2014 British Downhill Series - BDS, regional races and a select IXS races… At 14 years of age, Joe has been riding downhill mountain bikes for just three years after spending his youth riding moto-x. A fantastic season for Joe saw him podium at 20 of the 21 races he competed in, (Punctured at BDS rd3 Innerleithen). This shows what great speed and skill sets Joe can deliver along with mental focus ensuring a consistent performance every time, no matter what the weather or track style and conditions.
Joe has already jumped on board his new Nukeproof Pulse and been styled out with fresh Fox racing gear and will ride alongside Rich Thomas and Jay Williamson in 2014. Chilling at RoostHQ after an awesome day of Spanish riding Joe told us “
I’m super happy to be riding for Wideopen, I’ve ridden with the guys loads in the last year and I can’t wait to go racing with them. I’m having loads of fun already, the Nukeproof bike and Fox kit are amazing”.
Joe's first big race of the 2014 season will be on March 29th and 30th at BDS rd1 Antur Stiniog.
