London Cycle Show '08

Having won some tickets to the bike show at Earl's Court (thumbs up Superfly) I headed off this morning full of expectation not having been to the Cycle show despite wanting to go every year.
Bring it on!This is my first time doing anything bloggy so don't be too harsh.

We rolled up at about 10.45, I haven't been to Earl's Court since the boat show '02 so it was nice to be there.
First thing in the door we saw was the WeThePeople stand, this was seriously cool, they just handed you a bit of chalk and told you to go for it:

The stand guys loved the Suicide No-hander I drew:

I did a tailwhip as well but it wasn't that good.
Some dope bikes on there as well.

On to the mountain bike test track, I spent about an hour on here just riding this little orange 24 inch beast which was pretty much perfect for the track, it was a fun circuit made out of sand with berms, pump bumps/rollers and some small North Shore (more like boardwalk really).
One of the berms on the track:

They were awesome for just tucking into and ripping.
My dad had a go as well on a Cannondale.

Some seriously nice 4X bikes on display, here's the Yeti DJ for full drooling factor:

And the new Intense Tazer hardtail was getting lots of admiring looks, full XT, Manitou forks and Micro Knobbys on this one:

Not as nice as J.D's though (sorry about the quality my phone sometimes screws up).

The fashion show was seriously dodgy, well worth keeping clear of if you can (or you can film it and make Zoolander 2)

The BMX displays were OK but they should have just let the riders jam, the one we got to see was the schools one so there was lots of grim "Can you hear me?" stuff, nice to see Sam Pilgrim busting out a No-hander flip over the madly steep jump box, Martin Ashton and co. on the trials bikes did some cool stuff, there was a big line up onto a car and then a tower then off into the big quarter pipe.

The Mpora stand was good fun to just hang about on, a copy of DIRT was duly bought and then a while was spent watching all the World Cup highlights on the Mpora TV channel and chatting to the cute DIRT girls.

They had Tracy Mosely's Kona, Matti Lehikoinen's CRC Intense M6, Dan Atherton's Titanium 4X bike and Peaty's V10 on show, here's the V10:

The Commencal stand was fun, they had a competition draw for a Absolute jump bike and some of the Atherton's bikes on display, Gee's DH bike:

The guys were plying me with Redbulls, I drank two then went and ripped up the test track straight afterwards, Redbull gives you wings!
Gee and Rachel turned up a bit later but I didn't really talk to them, there were loads of fanboys
hanging around but all I can say is they look exactly like in the pictures, Gee seems a cool guy.

One of the stands had a time trial going on some turbos, can't remember who was running it but it was fun, I got a time of 11.55 secs on it beating my dad at least.

There were lots of shiny fixies and hybrids on show fixies being en vogue at the moment, the Surly ones looked pretty awesome as did the Cannondales ones.

Over one end was a track for the under 6s that looked OK, it was like made out like a road with zebra crossings and stuff.

The Mongoose stand had loads of bikes, the 4X and DH fullys looked sweet and there was a few BMXs on show.

Whenever you go to a show like this you return home with lots of magazines, posters and leaflets for things, I got a whole bag full.

It would be cool if this got on the homepage but I doubt it will.
