  • 11 4
saw luis's bike at the bike store the other day hes down in kam to shoot for nwd 10, his shonky looked sooo nice
  • 6 1
Love the way the seat clamp is looks really clean. Not bad as far as kona DJ bikes go.
  • 3 2
yeah but they copied the seat clamp from eastern bikes. just look, they are exactly the same
  • 3 2
its just for the lacondeguy brothers thats not on the production bikes..
  • 2 0
i love the the new shonkys they're sick
  • 9 4
my questing why the fuck would they have 2 different colored rims on the shonky thats just stupid once again kona doing a bang up job
  • 2 0
would have been sick if it had a better fork
  • 1 0
Those are not the first pictures of the lacondaguy's signature frame...
  • 2 1
I don't know about those plastic pedals. Might be light but I don't think they will perform very good.
  • 2 0
Have you tried some? cause I did and they work well! except when it rains probably...
  • 24 2
The 09 shonky had better colours, and a nicer seat + post
  • 16 0
The random lime green front wheel looks terrible... its way too out of place when put up against the rest of the bike. Why didnt they put matching rims on teh shonky?
  • 11 0
 toatally agree dude.
  • 4 0
Its for all the fat kids that you see riding shocky's the money they save only painting one rim lets them make the back stronger for when twinky wants to try 3's
  • 1 0
aren't they both the same rim? and it would have looked much better just black.
  • 7 0
About time. Just wish it had better components on it
  • 4 0
isnt a grand kinda steep for that spec??? and plastic pedals! come on...
  • 3 1
 And a halflink chain.
Guess they're looking at all the trendy kids and thinking, "hey, lets get a piece of the action!"

Too bad halflink chains suck, and the YBN 918 especially so.

Also, they might call those plastic pedals "Kona Jackshit", but if you know anything, you will instantly recognize regular Wellgo plastics that cost like 15 bucks. You can still see the Wellgo logo in the pics in that oval on the spindle area.

Actually, when you look closer at this whole writeup, it seems either half the info Pinkbike was given is incorrect, or they just made it up as they went along. "Custom saddle"? And where's the chainring guard that they claim is on there?

Also, man, that chainwheel looks amazingly cheap. Couldn't even have forged a design or something into it? I mean, if Eastern can do it, why not Kona? As it stands it looks like something Poverty made back in 2003...

I'm not the one to cry about weight, I would rather spend the money and some nice strong metal pedals then to spend money when a plastic snapes in half and there's no more riding
  • 4 4
So... in all reality the bike is now less suited to street and park, the riding I'm assuming it was made for, and is apparently better for dirt, which Kona already has the Cowan for (unless they've discontinued it).

To be honest, I'd rather have a rigid fork and V-brakes than a DJ3, for street anyway.

P.S. It's an integrated headset, not an internal one.
  • 4 1
I like everything apart form the seat post clamp, its a real design flaw, many bikes snap there.
  • 4 0
Why is their only one green rim though?
  • 4 2
it's so if you put the V-Breaks it wont take the paint off the rim.
  • 3 0
not too bad apart from the saddle, which is rough.
  • 3 1
if the rear rim would be flashy green it woule be OK LOOKING.but kinda seems pricy to me idk.
  • 1 1
the lacondeguy frame is very nice built up except the headtube.Does anyone of you know the geo on the lacondeguy frame?P.S.:i think the 09/08 shonky had a very long TT
  • 2 0
they should make all frames like the Lacondeguy brothers frames
  • 3 2
Lacondeguy frame looks sick! New Shonky isnt as nice looking as last years tho
  • 2 4
umm.. has anyone noticed in the first picture they have the stand for the bike clamped onto the from,, quote me if im wrong but doesnt that put pressure on the frame and weaken the frame,, shouldnt you have it clamped onto the seat post?(like in the title picture). Thats what i have learnt.
  • 3 0
it's cromoly. and they probably didnt clamp it that hard. but it's steel, the frame should withstand a little punishment
  • 1 0
well, it's not a road bike...if it can't stand beeing clamped it cannot stand any riding
  • 4 2
kona has done good this year
  • 1 1
with most of their other bikes, yes. but not this one.
  • 3 1
 Looks great. Kudos to Kona.
  • 2 0
Why do they come with plastic pedals....suchh a fad IMO
  • 1 1
Bass looks sick. Plastic pedals, we all know how fast those last. C'mon Kona.
  • 1 0

The price is a ridiculously low $899!!!!! where can you get this spec with Kona quality for $899.........................Nowhere, I'll save you the time looking. Come on People!
  • 7 1
eastern traildigger 26" goes for $400 aus, and in my opinion, it is a better fame and has everything this bike has. "where can you get this spec with Kona quality for $899.........................Nowhere, I'll save you the time looking. Come on People!" -Mxnate
