PRESS RELEASE: San Diego Mountain Biking Associatio

The San Diego Mountain Biking Association continues to Keep Trails Alive with help from Canyon and the Belgian Waffle Ride

The recent weather pattern in Southern California seems to predict a good start to the trail work season. We have been hard at work here at the San Diego Mountain Biking Association planning trail maintenance and building with local land managers all summer and now is the time to dig! But help is needed to get the shovels in the ground! Find out about upcoming Trail Work Days at SDMBA MeetUp.

Canyon and The Belgian Waffle Ride have stepped up and with your help we can
Keep Trails Alive!

Each $5 you donate to support San Diego Trails, gets you a chance to win a 2019 Canyon Strive CF 6.0.

Your donations will support the following:

Winter Skilled Intern Position (18 weeks) $15,000
Escondido Bike Park Project/Daley Ranch Trail Work $5,000
Mother Miguel/Rock House Trail Project $2,500
Mount Laguna Recreation Area Trail Work $2,500
La Costa Trail Work $2,000
San Marcos Bike Park Project $2,000
Tools and Equipment/Maintenance $1,000

Your support not only helps get the shovels in the dirt but it allows SDMBA staff and lead volunteers to be at the meeting tables where decisions are made and plans are formalized. Without this representation and advocacy work, actual trail work would never happen. We thank our members, donors, volunteers and sponsors for their amazing support for more legal trails in San Diego.

These donations make a huge difference. SD trails have gotten more rad in just the short year and half I’ve been here.

SDMBA has been doing a great job advocating for more trails throughout the county! Thank you!!!

I’m just surprised there are legal trails in San Diego. I just make the trek to arrowhead for off season and big bear and mammoth for seasonal.

SDMBA has done some great stuff like the Sweetwater bike park along with a lot of other great improvements to the legal trails of SD!

Unless the donations are going to be used to bribe city officials to stop closing trails, it's a losing battle. The real trailwork that needs to be in San Diego, and SoCal in general, is in policy not in the dirt.

True that. I give to SDMBA but I hate to think it is a losing battle in SD. We lose more trails than we add. The trails we do have are getting more and more crowded with riders, hikers, etc, etc which is simply the result of fewer trails and more people wanting to use them.

@matt92037: which increases the land impact on those trails and gives more ammunition to the people wanting to close trails, accelerating the cycle.
