Video: A Short Film About Discovering One's Own Backyard with Casey Brown, Georgia Astle & Micayla Gatto in 'The Back Forty'

by Martin Faubert-Smith

Casey Brown, Micayla Gatto, and Georgia Astle head out on the road to explore British Columbia and Yukon’s beautiful mountain bike communities. The plan is to start at the very bottom of the province and make their way up to Whitehorse, where there is word of amazing new trail networks and unique alpine riding. With global travel being shut down, it was an amazing opportunity to stay home and enjoy the world-class terrain.

We forget how big Canada really is, and the beautiful barely touched places we've never seen. Amazing segment, keep em coming!

I can't promise the Manitoba version of this is going to be quite as inspiring, but I really appreciate that others are taking on these 'stay at home' challenges too. The perfect trip isn't always far away.

It bugs me to see this "essential" travel situation happening. Like you said: the perfect trip isn't far from home Smile

@prmtb04: Cases were low then, the government announced we had flattened the curve and I believe the only restrictions were gatherings of more than 50 people. If I remember correctly, they say it's September or close to it.

@JayUpNorth: Supposedly. It's not ideal regardless. However, hese athletes are from communities far away from Vernon/Revelstoke and Vancouver, and Squamish. it's a good series no doubt. But I don't get and that's fine

I got news for you ladies.... your back yard is that exotic amazing place half way around the world. Take it from this Philly guy who can only dream of doing a trip like this. If I ever get to BC I’m never leaving.

Awesome video and experience. Beautiful country and really enjoyed the remoteness of it all. Thank you for sharing the good times and vibes ladies!

Beautifully done. Can't wait for travel restrictions to be over so that we can go explore again.

PG is in a pretty big zone. Lots to explore. Basically just can't go to the lower mainland

@makripper: 100% true. I just don't feel comfortable travelling outside PG quite yet. The restrictions will drop when a high percentage of us are vaccinated.

@JayUpNorth: I hear ya. I'm in the west kootenays. And technically I think we can go to the okanagan. I have zero interest to at this time.

@makripper: Technically, you can go to PG as Interior Health and Northern Health are part of the same zone.

@axcooper: for sure but I am trying to keep my travel as local as possible. Same with buying as much locally as I can.
