Kilian Bron and Thomas Lapeyrie were on the wonderful trails of Madeira Island, the day after a wild night. Another typical storyline for the two SUNN riders, including mountain biking, a rally car and paragliding.
Madeira has become in recent years a major destination. An island full of trails in an idyllic scenery. Like here on the heights of Ponta do Pargo, Kilian flies over a field of ferns.
Thomas and Kilian got to shred all day long before going to the local bars and taste the Poncha, famous alcohol on the island!. A mixture of rum, honey and freshly squeezed orange and lemon.
On the bike, nothing changed. Thomas is still going full throttle and having fun before the EWS season starts again in March in Chile.
Kilian is having a great time with whips and backflips on the Blackline, one of the most popular track on the island. Technical sequences, speed and jumps, the perfect trio!
Following on their wild ideas, the two riders each have their way to reach the top of the slopes.

Anyway I'd appreciate some guidance if possible? I've been looking online at Maps to do smaller trail loops starting in Funchal, we'd normally use a company like Freeride Madeira but we can't disappear for the full week so want to do some early morning rides for max 4 hours and we can probably swindle 1 full day (we'll have access to a car). Anyone have any links to routes/good maps/good trails we should check out whilst we're there? I've been looking on Trail Forks but there isn't a huge amount.
I run the guiding company @bikulture , we took care of the Sunn Boys (they came also for our Sandokan Enduro race, and it was Kilian's third trip to Madeira with us).
We are based in the South-West of the island, so if you want some half-days, you can ask our colleagues of Freeride, from Funchal.
There are many trails in the area above Funchal (below Pico do Arieiro, 'Poiso'). They are not signed, but you can find them on trailforks, and see them easily once on the ground. I strongly recommend the use of a shuttle, especially if you are limited in time. Like @demo7jumper says, you can take the bus up, but that will only bring out of town, in the 'middle' of the trails (it cannot really be used for proper shuttling).
If you want to spend one full day riding the South-West trails (the ones in the video), get in touch with us!
