We are really proud to present this video of Matt Macduff shredding the streets of Montreal for The Rise. During the summer, Matt visited us on two occasions and he wanted to make an all-street video on the beautiful Montreal grounds with Louis Lhomel behind the camera. Matt is always motivated to ride anything new and definitely knows how to adapt to his environment, wether it's small technical lines or gnarly gaps and drops. So just sit back and press play, this is the kind of video you'll be watching more than once!

How awesome would it be if Macduff had a video series where we would invite the top riders (from all the backgrounds) for a street jam! Imagine him shredding with Ratboy or with Lacondeguy!

not to be a hater, crazy tricks and riding too, but there is something about throwing your bike or kicking it that just makes me hate the person who does that...

its cuz you dont ride hard man
  • 12 7
cp-gang, ever seen a world cup rider doing that? that's the kind of stuff that your sponsors want to see? it has absolutely no connection
  • 14 4
sorry, but you cant compare WC riding to street riding. if youve ever done enough technical street, you'd understand why he treats his bike the way he treats it.. lets also not forget that he gets free stuff.
  • 5 9
flag beanbelly (Sep 12, 2013 at 9:01) (Below Threshold)
But he wouldn't be getting free stuff anymore if he wasnt Matt McDuff. Generally a sponsor will drop u for mistreating the stuff they give u.

 *Macduff
  • 14 1
again, its street riding.. you think this guy treats his bike bad? go look at any real street bmx rider thats sponsored. their bike is usually beat to shit from riding it, crashing, and throwing it.

even tho matt may 'mistreat' his stuff sometime. its really not that bad. its not like hes intentionally throwing his bike every trick he doesnt land.. he also gets the job done, and thats what matters to bike companies. of course hes not in front of the cameras every race and event like Gee or Gwin, so that gives him a little wiggle room and freedom to do what he wants where as WC racers have a very strict schedule and such. lets also not forget thats hes sponsored by O1, the child company of NS. just think of the persona they are trying to pull off, i think matt is the perfect match for them.

again, this is street riding were talking about here. if you havent done it long enough, you just wouldnt understand. which isnt a big deal, but riding street is VERY different than riding any other dirt discipline.

Gotta agree with jumpman2334 here, have none of you heard of a guy named Darren Berrecloth... He's like the original in throwing his bike haha

flag beanbelly (Sep 12, 2013 at 11:00) (Below Threshold)
Ya I mean I understand the situation much better now and im falling towards jumpmans perspective now....but I had no idea berrecloth threw his gear/bikes, that sucks wow he is like my idol and its kinda disappointing that he throws his stuff tho
  • 1 1
lmao, its really not that big of a deal.. it doesnt effect you, your bike, or your riding skills. so why should you really care? like the claw for his riding style, dont like him any less because of something that he does that doesnt effect you at all. its not like you see it in every movie hes in..

sure its not good for the bike, but its really not that bad or that big of a deal. hes a human too ya know, and sometimes he has bad days/runs as well.. the bike was just the closest thing to pay for it. some dudes beat their wife, kids, dog, kill people, etc. this is a better way to blow off steam than do something real bad Wink

idk a lot of people seem to be really against people tossing their own stuff... maybe im just missing something here. lol
  • 1 0
100% true and makes since i have never been one to harm my bike on purpose i get rlly upset when stuff happens to my bike anyways let alone when i do it. But I guess it's just weird to see someone like throw a bike like his i knew people did it i just never really thought about it
  • 2 0
it is sort of odd. although i wont lie, when i used to ride a lot more street. i would throw my bike, not very often though (usually when something out of riding is bothering me, sorry old bikes!), but id never like to ride with people who toss their stuff almost everyday. its just not fun.
  • 2 0
You have to be a RAGE'aholic to ride Street Mtb !!.......... and only someone who Rides St would know that
  • 3 3
He's throwing HIS bike, not YOURS. So shut up please, you have no right to tell him what to do with his own stuff. It's just a bike, a piece of metal. Yes it's valuable but it can be replaced (unlike your body). Also him riding his bike puts a lot more stress on it that those little throws. Mind your own business and get over it please...
  • 2 1
@mattin , dumbest comment ever dude, i gave my opinion respectfully, don't come here and tel me to shut up like that don;t be an ass.Never told him not to do that, just gave my opinion on what he did, that is whats forums like these are for right?
  • 2 0
Okay, you're right that my 'shut up' was overkill. Also I didn't ment this to anyone personally, it just really annoys me how many people start complaining when someone throws his bike in a video. When someone does that it's usually all drama in the comments section, and that I don't like. Ride and let ride. It's his bike so we have no right to tell him what to do with it. That's what I ment to say, just got caught up in the drama haha
  • 1 0
Ya so f*ck off Matt a bike isn't just a peice of metal btw there's rubber on there too jackass Smile so please keep ur rude comments to yourself. This is a comment section and we can say what ever we want and its not like we are telling Matt himself to not throw is stuff we were saying we disagree with it and we were complaining about the unmecciarry bike throwing like when he is riding off and he just chucks his bike for no reason

  • 15 2
Don't know what youre saying, I would buy the shit out of his bike!

It's obvious that security guard that assaulted him caused him to crash all those times.

Security guard: Get out of here!

that plywood setup for jumping the fence was sick! not sure why but i love stuff like that
  • 21 2
Someone needs sponsor his underwear situation. Sick riding though!
  • 14 0
that was pretty sweet, but I feel like to be a street rider, you have to like falling off of high things, and that's not really for me
  • 15 0
Excuse me as I just casually barspin EVERYTHING
  • 13 2
MacDuff is so much better with metal!
  • 4 0
I completely agree that running brakeless is good for dirt jumping but I always wondered about whether its really suitable for street riding, because I can see a couple of small problems like, I don't know...cars?...pedestrians?...lampposts?
  • 3 2
Dodging cars, pedestrians etc just adds to the fun! Smile
  • 2 1
Until you slam into a pedestrian, or accidentally get hit by a car for being wreckless. Would you want to be the driver who runs over some kid on a bike because he didn't want to use brakes? Or would you want to hit a kid while ON your bike? Even just a front brake threaded through the head would be fine.
  • 2 2
Been riding brake-less for a while now, almost 5 years. Haven't ever hit a pedestrian or been hit by a car. Having no brakes doesn't mean you cant stop at all.. still can slow down pretty fast. My frame itself was designed as a brake-less frame with a bmx hub and no mounts on the frame for rear brakes. Also the front hub doesn't have the mount for a caliper or brake mounts on the fork. I don't ride brake-less because I'm wreck-less, I choose to. I like the feeling of having clean bars with nothing to get in my way. Helps a lot with my bar spins and what not, also no cables Smile Different people have different styles. Had a few close calls at skateparks and what not but riding without brakes makes me more aware of my surroundings and gives me faster reaction times. Only downside I find is the shoes I go through... Tires on the other hand last for years! Smile

Funny how all action sports performed in an urban environment follow how lines in skateboarding are filmed nowadays. Still awesome nonetheless.
  • 3 1
Last stunt/move in this video was new and never seen or done before on any video I have ever seen. Slope style has moved up another notch for sure.

  • 8 3
Maybe spend less time looking at what he's wearing and concentrate more on his riding?

Im wondering what he'd be like at a slope comp...

sweet, well if its a float.. i wouldnt call it 'custom', as you just add in spacers. but then again, maybe its not a float!
  • 6 1
 actually a talas...
  • 2 2
oh nice! isnt talas the one with the 3 pre-set travels?
  • 5 1
the one in the vid is a custom 36 talas, before that he rode 36 float custom made to 120mm, not lowered, just built that way

my god!!!!!! best one yet. you can tell when people dont pay for their bike. they throw it and kick it and suck.
  • 5 3
I'll venture a guess that he'd crash less without the stupid skinny jeans?
  • 3 0
Hahaha, i'd say it has more to do with pushing the sport further than ever and throwing massive tricks on everything.
  • 1 0
I love how excited - almost surprised - he is when he lands a trick. Just shows the fun of riding and pushing yourself.
  • 1 0
glad to see he's wearing an helmet, concret is hard on your head when you fall
