Setting the scene for a fantastic week ahead at the Suzuki Nine Knights MTB 2014, the riders returned from the first sunset session amped up and stoked on the course. “
We modified the course based on last year’s experiences, and the rider’s feedback is great!” exclaims host Andi Wittmann (GER). Featuring massive kickers, an extended freeride section and a multitude of refined obstacles, Mottolino Fun Mountain, in Livigno, Italy plays host to this unique freeride mountain bike event. Check out the sheer magnitude and plethora of possibilities of this year’s set up in the GoPro Course Preview.
The drop tower "Il Castello" is the infamous starting point of the course, a striking castle from which up to four riders can drop at the same time from either 6m or 3.5m. “
I’m super happy to be back. The castle is really cool, you get good speed out of it with a nice speed jump before the big one,” comments the Swede ripper Martin Söderström, who missed last year due to injury. “
The big jumps are BIG, I think all the guys are gonna try some pretty gnarly stuff,” he adds, affirming the crafty work of Balzamico Trail Design.
The main feature offers numerous options including a 14.5m kicker, a 9.5m kicker and a quarter jump with a 4m transition in the middle. The steep landing leads into the freshly extended freeride section, which starts off with two corners and the unique Smith V-wall ride, which can be ridden on both sides. Followed by a step-up and a second wallride, the trail then leads into the impressive crossbow feature, a narrow ramp with a considerable drop. The gigantic hip at the bottom of the course is the crowning glory of the freeride section, where we can expect record-breaking heights.
The weeklong Suzuki Nine Knights MTB is jam-packed with sessions on the various obstacles and trails in the surrounding area from 16th to the 21st of June 2014. Grab your friends and head up to Mottolino Fun Mountain in Livigno to get a piece of the action for on the Sunset Shoot on Tuesday the 19th of June and come watch the knights battle it out on Saturday’s Contest day, the 20th of June 2014. Join us as the celebration continues in the evening at Miky’s Pub.
