Webisode 7, The Whister Special.

After months of waiting we were finally on the plane and heading towards Canada for two weeks of riding in the best place in the world, Whistler. Here is the video of those two weeks, including Supermans and No foot cans down Dirt Merchant and A-line, some Crank It Up action, a train in the rain and a mother of all Supermans in the Boneyard!

Video inside,I was bored of making little 2-3 minute videos that no one cared about and no one watched, I wanted to make something that people could tune into every month and see some good riding from people they have never heard of! So I decided to make the Tom Grundy Webisodes, showcasing the best in UK Mountain biking talent from Downhill to Dirt jump to Freeride, every first day of every month.

So far I am up to number 7, where 4 friends and I headed towards Whistler, B.C. to see what we could find:

 That bit where that guy crashed at the start and those guys stopped to help out was really respectable. Felt nice to watch. Where I'm from alot of the riders would just sit there and laugh and call you a n00b or something. Canada, one cool place to ride man!

 I really enjoyed the video, good work. It's been a month since I was in Whistler. Now I'm stuck in Oklahoma and the closest I can get to downhill is to watch it online and look at the pics/vids I took while I was there. I miss it but it will make the next time I get to shred that much better

 great video, looks like you've captured exactly what i call freeriding. all the fellas having fun and good vibes with each other. some seriously good riding in there too. i know those places you shot on "in deep" etc were tech stuff to ride. good on ya.

 Cool, but the camera work was shakey as hell for a video of this calibre. A lot of the shots were somewhat questionable too.

 I give props to the Superman in the Boneyard, and props to the Dirt Merchant section. But the rest was below expectations for the "best" riders out of the UK??? Crank it up is a beginners jump run...you should have done all of A-Line or Freight Train instead. Also, the pump track section was cool but it went on too long. I just think that for a 10 minute video there was maybe 3 minutes of good stuff where Whistler has the potential to make a 15 minute video of all gnarly impressive stuff.

 Crank it up is still a great trail though and the crank it up section was the film-maker riding and he would admit he isn't one of the best riders from the UK. Its just a nice little section for him.

 Bunkey, Fair enough some of the shots where shakey, thats simple due to me not carrying a tripod around the mountain im not a whole film crew, just one person riding down, then filming a bit..But i dont know what your talking about when you say some shots where "somewhat questionable", what are you on about? Please explain what a questionable shot is, and which ones where questionable, that way i can improve for next time..Thanks for the C+C everyone, its the only way i can improve.

 Actually to be fair man, I was probably high when I watched it, but I think when I first watched it I set my expectations too high also, I was expecting it to be something like the Sunpeaks Websidode from last month. The shots I find questionable were a few which seemed to me like just standing and filming without thinking about angles etc, and also shooting through the grass around the 5 minute mark which I thought looked a bit too creative, and thus a bit amaturish. That said, I have a lot of respect for your stills, and after watching for a second time with just a day out riding video idea in mind as opposed to a webisode, I quite enjoyed it. I just think the way you marketed the video was misleading is all, If you had been less proffessional sounding with the whole article webisode set up, and just marketed as 'heres a video of some guys pinning whistler, come enjoy the trails for yourself' then it would have exceeded expectations and been more enjoyable. Like I say, I have a lot of respect for your stills so I dont doubt your ability.
