Trail Karma Month has already raised over US$130k and there's still a day left to donate and win! Read on to learn more about what Trail Karma Month is all about...

Why Trail Karma Month?

More so than before, trail associations are spread thin as trail maintenance increases and access to resources decreases. Due to COVID-19, funding is being cut, while more and more people are outside using the trails. There is a large gap between current funding and what is required to build and maintain the trails that bring us so much joy. Which got us thinking...

For the month of July, we’re giving you more reason to give back to the trails you love to enjoy with Trail Karma Month. Trail Karma Month is a campaign to raise awareness and increase funding for trail associations around the world.

We may have reached $130k in donations, but it's not over yet.

We are encouraging everyone around the world to support their favourite trails by donating via Trail Karma in July. Trail Karma provides a direct way for you to put 100% of your donation into trail associations and builders developing trail systems.

Donate to a trail association(s) of your choice by July 31st. 2020 for a chance to win one of our incredible prizes. Check out the full list of prizes here, including a 7-day Sea-to-Sky Giveaway, a Kona Shonky hardtail, a RockShox Zeb Ultimate, and more from CamelBak, Reserve Wheels, DT Swiss, SRAM, Garmin, Shimano, DMOS Collective, Salomon, Jenson USA, and Trailforks.

Grumpy post: I really wish there was one month a year for giving campaigns. I'm lucky to have an employer that matches my donations to trail organizations, and I make use of it every year to fund Evergreen and their amazing efforts here in Washington state.

That said, my employer, Evergreen, and PinkBike have all picked three different months for giving campaigns that impact the same fiscal year. Give to one and you're a cheapskate who doesn't participate in the other two. Give three times a year and you've tripled transaction fees and accounting overhead come membership and tax time.

All done with grumpy dentist complaining. I'm glad I got to ride today. Everyone with an overpriced bike should be putting hundreds annually into the trails they ride. Thanks for putting this together PB.

Awesome job trailforks. People - remember that membership is more valuable to a trail association than a donation as it provides valuable political clout. If your donation is close to or more than a membership then it is worth considering that. (Memberships usually aren't tax deductible though).

This is a great idea, hopefully it can become a yearly event or even twice per year to align with riding seasons on both hemispheres.

Is the banner that takes up 25% of the screen on TF app going away soon? Also, great job.

@brianpark: BTW is there another option?
  • 1 0
@fabwizard: You can donate directly to your local trail organization or even become a member.

@fabwizard: PayPal is the only option if you want to donate via Trailforks. You could reach out to your local group to see if you can donate to them directly. Of course Trailforks Trail Karma will not apply, but you'll still feel good about yourself for supporting your local trails!
