The mere fact 26ers have a special name, as opposed to 'normal bikes' tells you the story eh !
  • 5 4
ahaha - Apache 249 - you made my day
  • 13 1
I don't wanna 29er bike, so I'm out. I'll stick to my current bike, thanks.
  • 65 3
Yeah I really want to read everyone's collective wheelsize related woes...

SAID NO ONE EVER

Jesus it's like "hey guys want to win a free $8000 bike."

"No, the wheels are the wrong size" :*(

Actually I'm happy the fewer people enter the more likely I am to win...
  • 20 1
Woah, who said I didn't enter? In fact, I entered before I found out what the prize selection even consisted of. Free stuff, yo.
  • 11 1
Preaching to the choir dude. but Im still running a 24 at the rear lol

jackclark89, the chance of winning these bikes is almost zero, so why should I participate, if I don't even like them? If it is a dream bike I would go in, because... it is a dream bike and you have to take any chance of getting it. But to participate in contest that I will not win, and if for some god damn reason I do win it and I don't really want the prize and have to sell it. Hm, that sounds a bit pointless for me. And why don't they offer 26er bike as an option, so everyone can participate because he LIKES the prize and not just because it's FREE?
  • 5 5
good! 24 rears are the best!
  • 4 2
Well like someone mentioned, it's really a shot in the dark. But as long as there's a chance in a billion to win a $10,000 bike, I'll take it. Even if it means chucking the 29er wheels, replacing 'em with 26ers and totally screwing up the geometry for the fun of it....

Anyone out there try a 29er on 26" wheels?
  • 49 1
 Step 1: Stop crying.
Step 2: Win 29" bike.
Step 3: Sell 29" bike.
Step 4: Build 26" bike of your choosing.
  • 3 0
cracking idea. im going with that plan also.
  • 2 0
I was wondering if it is with USD or CAD the 8k limit, because you can swap the XT with XTR then... or you can keep the Reverb and the XTR brakes...
  • 7 0
my soon to be future ex-bike!
  • 1 0
Yeah what Apache249 said......loose the 29er's please your killing me here!
  • 1 0
To be fair, I have nothing against 29ers or 29er riders. I just want a choice of bikes. 29er XC racers and whatnot are great, but they're not for me. It's not like the other bikes cost more or anything. In fact, the bikes I'd be more interested in, such as the Remedy, Slash, or Session, tend to cost less.
  • 1 0
yeah but there is nothing bigger than a fuel avalible from treks project one program
  • 1 0
They put together this contest to promote and expose their new bikes, I don't see anything wrong with this. If you don't like 29ers, don't enter and let someone who does win it.
  • 1 0
Can you choose 29er on the front and 24 on the rear??? :-)
  • 1 0
 trek 69er. look it up
  • 2 0
I saw somewhere that the contest was over on July 22nd... so when/where are the winners announced??
  • 96 3

  • 125 2

  • 9 1
BE WARNED: "Project ON's" bike builder is a HUGE time suck... fun, but it can turn into a bit of an obsession. Now if only you culd get a Remedy or a Slash on there to customize, I'd be in heaven and waste even more time. AS it is, it's all XC and light-duty Trail bikes and the components leave a LOT to be desired, but it's still a fun waste of time. Just be aware, you can waste 4 hours playing around before you know what's hit you. Lymon is one of my Fav. colors now.BTW...
  • 14 4
Before I even read all the competition I'll take a guess that its not available to UK or non US/Canadian counties...
  • 11 0
Damn, beat me to it, even if it ain't open to the UK/Rest of the world, i'm still going to enter, screw the system. Razz
  • 3 1
I've already made the most expensive bike they offer and entered my email address - Fingers Crossed!!
  • 2 0
I went for a moderatley priced one, thought they may be more likely to go for that. Razz is it just a random draw from email addresses? does the bike builder thing have anything to do with it for now?
  • 2 0
It's available to the UK Smile
  • 5 0
I take that all back - This is a surprise...
  • 1 0
I was also, usually always US/Canada only
  • 9 1
Shoot, that new Fuel EX 29er is looking sweet! And if you guys don't like the bikes available and win, just get over it. A free bike is a free bike after all.
  • 4 1
He'll yes, sell that sucker and build your own dream bike.
  • 4 0
 "Hell yes"...stupid autocorrect.
  • 3 0
That's what I'm doing when I win... I'll take all the parts I picked off and sell the frame!
  • 2 0
Don't sniff a gift fish or don't look a gift horse in the mouth
  • 6 1
I think with the prices that Trek has on their frames and build kits, the United States government has designated them as the company which is going to bring them out of the massive deficit one 8000 dollar xc bike or one 13000 dollar road bike at a time.

I built a road bike on their site for just under 20 000 without gst or import duties or shipping....

I could have a Carbon Wlsn and Dixon and a decent truck for that price. Not to say they dont have the technology behind their bikes but jesus is it that much better?
  • 5 1
I have a few different mountain bikes, so I took a different approach and went conservative on a "roadie" Madone7 series, only starts at 13K. After all the proper choices, it rolled out to $18,000. Not including shipping and handling of course (and applicable taxes too no doubt). Fingers crossed.!! hahahaha....

As if they're going to give me a $20,000 bike.
  • 4 0
7 Series is their ultra high level road frame. The 6 series is a bit more reasonable.
  • 20 13

  • 8 2
 why no 26?
  • 2 2
 Indeed.
  • 2 0
How the hell is it a dream bike if its nothing like what I dream about. To hell with this, my time trying to enter the contest is worth more than $8000 to me, especially if its a damn 29'er!!!!!!
  • 1 0
Is anyone else having trouble with the email? Put in email address hit send and nothing?? Can play in the project one screen and nothing else. Also all the bikes offered are over 8G. Do you have to pay the balance if you win?
  • 6 1
 1.Win contest
2.Collect bike
3.Sell bike
4:Buy your real dream bike!
  • 1 0
Looks like some sweet bikes. With an easy entry as well. Thank You TREK!!!! There is a lot of complaining about a free bike going on. This is ridiculous that everyone complains about a free bike and bikes that are $10,000. Shut up say "Thank You" and remember if you can't say something nice......
