looks like its from Cycle Dog. They do custom branding in addition to the sweet designs on their website. Both my Vizslas have their collars, and bowls, and leash, and toys. Really cool company.
Anyone want to go in on some custom ones? It’s a 15 item order minimum for custom. But we can make a rad custom batch. I want a cool collar and leash for my lab!
We are literally waiting for the shipment to arrive at our warehouse any day now - Trail-borks and Pinkbike collars, bowls, and leads/leashes, all made out of recyclable tubes from CycleDog. Mine is a Kenda tube...
Hopefully by later next week we will be live in the shop!
@jorgeposada: Meeshka hits bigger drops than me...Not necessarily gracefully, but I was impressed by her determination to send it like papa bear - ie Levy.
Guys I am here did you miss me? These dogs are all very good dogs and I am happy to report that most of them have probably found a half eaten hot dog laying on the ground in Whistler by this point.
We just said goodbye to our best friend and greatest trail dog of 16 years. This brings a tear to my eyes. Everyone should give there dogs and extra scratch and cuddles today.
I'm sorry for your loss. I just recently lost my 7 year old malamute. She died unexpectedly when she got hepatitis. Now I make sure to spoil my other dog daily, never know what will happen.
As an owner and racer of Dachshunds all pink bikers can see which breed has the most representation here. They may not be the ultimate dog for mountain biking but they are the best dog for sharing a beer with after. Thanks for this article!
I've always hated small dogs. There was an insane Chihuahua who would go bezerk at the gate every time I walked our old Collie past it growing up, and the recent-ish fashion in inbred 'handbag' dogs did nothing to change that opinion.
But I had a colleague a few years ago who brought his two Dachshunds to work regularly. They're one of the sweetest, most endearing dogs I've ever met. Just their walk makes me smile. I'm not converted on small dogs and my partner wants a 'full-size' dog, but if we ever got a little one she'd have to argue hard for it not to be a Dachshund.
@gkeele: the problem with small dogs it the owners. when the dog is not big enough to knock you over the need for training to protect ones self is not there, so they let them be 'cute'. i hate cats and any dog smaller than a cat is a cat in my book, so yea i dont like the breeds, the brain dead owners are the problem in most cases.
@gkeele: I have had two Dachshunds. Great dogs, but prone to paralysis in the hind legs over time because of serious back spine problems. One of my dachshunds got paralyzed. Sad.
Weather is torrential in my part of the UK atm, this article make me want to sack off the the last hour of work on a Friday and go pet my doggo when normally at this time I'm just itching to get out on the trails
Loving this thread, Highlights the hidden side of mountain biking. the mountain doggo, Seeing the variety at whistler (bet there where many more who didn't make the front page) there are some seriously wonderful companions in them piccies up there.
Awesome pink bike.. But next time write something what the dog really thinking.. example, That french bulldog is actually saying that.. Whats going on her? I just wanna take a bit of ur donut.
m.pinkbike.com/photo/13893922 This article totally for the dogs. Check out my cage free hair and trailcat. They both love some single track. Trail cats where it's at!
Dogs should have harnesses. It doesn't pull on their neck/throat, when they're pulling or barking - won't hurt them at all and they'll love you for it. Nothing worse when a dog is trying to bark or tug and it's being strangled by it's collar. Collars for show - harness on the go. Dogs rule.
@IntoTheEverflow: Actually no.. I had a dog years ago that suffered from a partially collapsed trachea . Ask any vet and they will tell you that a harness is safer.
Better yet, if possible, develop a relationship/rapport with your dog that allows them to be off leash as much as possible. Being bound and/or gagged doesn't bring out the best in anyone. : )
@juansolo57: Totally agree. But.. local dog laws require all dogs to be on a leash when in public.. Our dogs are only on a leash when we take them for walks.
@IntoTheEverflow: Not true. I have a niece that was taking my dog for a walk and he wanted to pee on a tree (maltese poodle). She yanked so hard on his leash that she messed up his neck and discs. We had to put him down. So...go for a harness for certain. The dog died before it's time. I still have issues talking to that niece.
Veterinarian here. +1 million to the harness recommendation. Collapsing trachea and neck instability are good reasons, but the biggest reason I'd give is that dogs tend to slip collars and get hit by cars. It's incredibly common. Not a problem with harnesses.
Get a border collie, then no leash is necessary making the collar/harness debate moot. Plus, a BC can drive you home from the bar should you over indulge (RIP Jake).
@pinnityafairy: I posted on your comment by accident actually - but on the subject, as someone who has dogs in their household, i get annoyed by people who will bag their pooches p00p, then leave said bag on the side of the trail. At least if they were using it as a hand warmer it wouldn't be impacting everyone else.
@Hyakian: agreed. I just came back from Portland Oregon and every hiking trail had little treat bags lining the trail where people bag their poo and leave it for everyone to enjoy. I would rather see it left to compost then put in a plastic sack to annoy everyone. Plastic just another issue with stupid people. As human beings we blame all the problems of the world on products & chemicals when at the end of the day it's lazy disrespectful Humanity destroying the Earth.

But nah for real, Dachshunds are the best. Hard to train though, they're stubborn little shits

Anyone have info on the leash Crash is wearing?

I do think that for really tiny dogs a harness is better.
plus a harness can be clicked into a car seat, keeping your partner safe driving to/from the trail.
1) do not hate on doggo’s
2) do not question climate change
3) do not say it ‘looks like a session’
4) NEVER say a girl is cute/hot
Remember these, you’ll do fine.
