Black Sage might be the flowiest stop of the FEST Series. The crew came to town in early May to start sampling the course built by organizers Kyle Jameson & Carson Storch. After a week of sessions and good times, the Oregon Dirt Park was opened to spectators for the public day on Saturday. The course was running perfectly, the wind was low, and those in attendance stayed well hydrated as they watched 20 of the world's best riders absolutely send it.

At the end of the day, the low-key atmosphere and consistent good vibes were capped off with a light sprinkling of rain to cool things down. But it might have just been local IPA.

Dicks on trucks and massive jumps...that's not enduro. It's good to see the real spirit of mountain biking lives on in the far fringes of the sport. Thanks for the great coverage PB
  • 11 7
So you are saying that a dick on a truck is the real spirit of mountain biking. Ok, no problems, your choices, I respect that. My vision of this spirit is more into riding mountainbike. Yes I know, strange...
  • 11 0
@fracasnoxteam: haha only if it crashes gently into me from behind as I'm bending over tying my shoe. But seriously mountain biking has gotten to be family friendly and safe. Dicks on trucks and massive jumps help to balance that out.

Oregrown IS lame, they canned the growers that built the place. Don’t smoke their concentrates, state doesn’t test for mold
  • 5 1
They are mold farmers and total losers! I can't believe they let those douche bags sponsor this event. Total garbage products!!
  • 2 0
@MtHood-G: I’m all for their sponsor $, good on them for supporting our sport. But as a biz, I won’t support them. They were my local Gogo dispensary until the drama. It’s a clothing store that sells overpriced weed now.

What happened to the FEST series being low key and rider centric? That crowd looks pretty large.
  • 17 0
For most of the FEST events they ride all week, and open it up to the public for one day. It’s still super low key, with the crew riding what they want, when they want, how they want.
  • 3 0
@brianpark: oh good. I was hoping they weren't losing it. I know in Santa Cruz it was pretty much impossible to get into and they didn't except many sponsors.

So seeing breweries and huge crowds made me wonder if they just decided to sell it out.

Either way it's still cool as hell. There's crowds at Rampage and that event is rad.
  • 2 0
It didn't seem that big. No lines for food, beer, or bathrooms. Could view easily from anywhere. Plenty of space to spread out with lawn chairs. They should let us hike to the top and watch the drop-in though.
  • 2 0
@onemqnarmy no one had any idea robbie Maddison was going to be there. Some people in the area didn't even hear about the event despite their love for cycling, beer and moto.
  • 1 0
@treekilla: Sick. That's how that event should be. Core riders. Core fans.

Good to hear. Now hopefully they'll let me into the Santa Cruz one. That one you gotta know the secret handshake and be willing to be blindfolded and gagged. LOL!
