Another great vid to remind me how slow I am...
  • + 5
Pretty much. I was like "this is awesome! and I am super slow! wow!"
  • + 3
 who is that at 1:50?
  • + 1
We are just in slow-mo mode compared to theses guys !
  • + 49
You don't need a DH bike for everyting!! shreading on trail bikes is awesome too.
  • + 6
Scrolled down to the comments to say that everyone i ride with would have told me that you NEED a DH rig for that type of trail. Good to see riders rippin on the smaller bikes!
  • + 10
luckily it looks like they were able to stay out of lopes way
  • + 19
THIS is a bike video, no postman pat sequences riding to the trail, no putting on helmets, no pedal spins, no closeup HD shots of moss, or timelapses of the sky, just riding, when all the riding has been shown that the trail has to offer, the video ends, simple!
  • + 7
...except for the bit when they were talking at the end...
  • + 3
But that's completely acceptable with a duo like Kyle and Tyler Wink
  • + 4
You forgot super slo-mo berm shots and Dubstep Wink

haha people are still going on about that^

My friend Ben and I rode these exact trails yesterday. After watching this video, i realize how much we suck.
  • + 1
Same here. Rode those exact trails Saturday, now I've got some new lines to try.
  • + 13
 Sigh... everybody else's trails rule.
  • + 7
 go build!
  • + 2
people (including myself) have tried. It's the culture here to look down on anybody who lets their tires touch dirt, and if you're one of those dirty heathens who does that, then you look down everybody who doesn't ride 25 mile XC rides on the 3 or four trails that suit that style. These people are in positions of power to make sure that any attempt at legal trails is shut down, and ensure that anything else gets destroyed as quick as it gets built up. People talk about how bad some parts of California are (I've heard Marin County is awful) as far as the non-biking public being actively hostile to bikers, but sometimes I wonder if we don't have them trumped.

It's gotta be tough hiding trails in the desert! Our biggest opponents are the environmentalists who try to put the kibosh on anything that alters the natural state of things, let alone FR/DH trails.

Excitement over mountain bike parks and MTB specific trails is growing, not only within the biking community but also in the government agencies that manage the land. Our local IMBA chapter attended a BLM recreation planning meeting recently and encountered a lot of enthusiasm about bike-only trails thanks to successful projects like Black Rock and Sandy Ridge here in OR. These kinds of projects bring those agencies more funding so they're all about it.

I did some digging for you and found out that your local IMBA chapter in Tuscon is advocating for a bike park. Go speak up and get yourself some rad trails!

ya i'm from humboldt and we definitely have the environmentalist problem up there. i'm an advocate for preserving the environment as much as the next guy but any bike trail that could be any sort of fun is shut down for erosion control or hiker safety or something. Then they get turned to horse trails because wide gravel roads and horse poop running into the creeks in the forest is much better for the environment than single track

Jimmy0: what you're talking about is essentially the mission statement of the Sierra Club these days. What used to be an outdoor enthusiast club has become every bit as extreme as greenpeace, but much more likely to affect the average person, especially if that person enjoys the outdoors.

Treehugger: That's a BMX track. It's not even a new development, it's an old one that they're re-opening, and they're closing another one to open it. There's support for BMX out here, in that it keeps those who like offroad bikes contained in nice little areas, instead of out in the woods. Jimmy0's point about the equestrian people is telling here as well: Horses are far worse for trails than bikes, but people who own horses have enough money to get their way.

I try not be such a downer about it, but after 10+ years of dealing with it, it gets hard to maintain an optimistic outlook about the whole issue.
  • + 11
I can't believe we get this stuff for free.
  • + 4
 Ad placement. Fox and GT.
"Oh look I want one of those bikes because he rides it so fast!"
  • + 9
 yeah but still..
  • + 9
lynx, rockit, 5 oaks, its a combo of a few short trails
  • + 5
Hey man... thank you for being cool about the location names! Beer
  • + 1
Great to see them riding legal trails in Laguna too!
  • + 2
riding those trails trails when living there not really long ago makes me feel homesick ... I hate you, thanks! Missing SoCal winters here in freaking Munich
  • + 1
that whole vid looked like lynx to me... i didn't see the rock garden rockit is notorious for.
  • + 1
I think part of it was shot on T&A which is on the other side of Laguna Canyon
  • + 7
lol Kyle Strait is not wearing knee pads
  • + 1
I recognize most of these trails since they are literally in my back yard. Yes, we are fortunate in Laguna - especially this time of year. The trails in the vid are all legal stuff that you can ride on almost any kind of bike - no DH bikes needed. 5-6" travel bikes are perfect. And to Ross05, they probably did ride uphill to get to those trails, even though they were filming - they just didn't put it in the vid. Most of the riders 'round here are climbing maniacs - with tasty treats rewarding the effort.
  • + 5
I just love seeing pros shreding my home trail

Did someone come and sanatize it? Wheres all the rocks?
  • + 0
Yea really eh. I think a lot of guys on these boards dont realize that with some years of practice, you can get, well, not quite that fast, but pretty fast when the terrain your riding on consits of mostly dirt and little to none roots and boulders. Work on your turns and braking and the speed follows.
  • + 1
The guys are real fast but this video is edited that make them look faster than they are if you check it you will see a scene where the pass twice in a small bump, all the video is so but it looks real nice and they are good.
  • + 3
stoked!! saw those two at Laguna Cyn Rd that same day when we were DHing, got to take pictures with both, cool guys
  • + 1
I havent been keeping up to date with my vid watching for the past while, so not seeing Tyler dirt jump or getsum air is pretty confusing right now. The guys lost touch with his roots haha..
  • + 16
My roots are still plenty intact buddy...
  • + 1
No of course man. Just remember how first time I saw you jumping was on drop in season 3 quite a while back. You were killing it then before you were signed ( don't think you were signed ) . And then this past summer getting crazy cacked out on Whistlers dirt merchant, leaves an impression. so now your riding this trail bike is like waaat ?
  • + 1
Great Vid. It seems like Strait has been killiing it in so many disciplines for so long. Reminds me of the 'old' days when guys like Johny T were slaying xc, dh, and dual, all in the same weekend.
  • + 3
rock and roll, and no slow mo = win
  • + 2
After closer review I realized they are using Carbon Forces and probably a mix of not stock components including RS forks
  • + 1
Watched it a couple of times too - couldn't figure out what bikes they were using. Thanks for the tip man. BUT, why doesn't Kyle's bike have a tapered headtube?
  • + 0
@Windsurf Hey, they are not Carbon. Look closely the frames where the shock in placed in the front triangle, that is a normal force (or at least, an alloy sanction). The 2nd picture shows that.
  • + 1
The way Tyler was twisting the rear triangle around on his bike I thought they were on some secret Intense models.
  • + 9
I was on the Carbon Force and Kyle was on the aluminum Sanction. Sick bikes!
  • + 2
t-mac, is that t&a and parts of lynx?
  • + 4
I have no idea actually. I had never ridden there before and was just following Kyle around haha
  • + 3
TMcCaul, thanks for the info! Keep shredding like that!
  • + 0
It was lynx, 5 oaks and rockit
  • + 2
You guys are forgetting they also rode T&A in LCWP. Awesome vid!!!
  • + 1
you guys were hauling ass. i need to get out there when kyle is out there and follow him for a bit haha
  • + 3
How f*cking RAD is it that guys like T-Mac actually post comments on here?
  • + 2
not only was that sick riding but that video really made me want to get out and ride......awesome!
  • + 2
these guys could shred harder on a tricycle then i could on a dh bike!! legendary
  • + 3
Good gawd they tore aliso a new one
  • + 2
Strait and McCaul are so damn fast they make most of all of us feel slow lol
  • + 1

  • + 2
I was just out there near Laguna. Anyone know what trail this is!?
  • - 1
 Lynx, 5 oaks, rockit
  • + 1
Five oaks and rockit aren't in this video. It looks like it was shot on Lynx and TnA
  • + 2

  • + 1
rad video guys. and this is why i'm trying to move to the OC from the east coast. love the whole system of trails there.
  • + 1
I like how more people are asking where the trail is instead of talking about the kick-ass edit.
  • + 6
just means we all like to ride bikes
  • + 1

  • + 1
The video was not bad, But to follow up that Golstone video You need more shred!

  • + 11
I signed with Marzocchi just a couple of weeks ago. I filmed a couple of edits over the last few months that hadn't come out yet, including this one, so there will be a couple of more times that you will see me on all of last years stuff. After that it will all be Marzocchi!
