Press Release: With the launch of the Archi Enduro RR, we told you that it was the ultimate helmet for enduro racing. And still, we kept a last little surprise and evolution that we will make you discover on this version of the RR +, limited edition. This helmet is delivered with high-end goggles equipped with a patented side attach system.

The '+' means that with only one hand, whether you’re on a top of a stage or at the departure of a transfer section, you can fix the goggles within a couple of seconds on your face or at the backside of your helmet. The goggle kit can also be bought separately and adapted on your Archi Enduro RR.

 Never go full enduro...

Is there is a helmet maker that is *less* concerned about helmet safety than Urge is? Not that I know of.

 @Phillyenduro: what do you mean?

@bikeguide: Companies like Kali and Leatt and 6D are pushing the envelope for creating helmets that reduce concussion risk. Even the big helmet makers, Giro and Bell and Troy Lee, are at least using MIPS. But Urge? What's their big technological innovation? Some gizmo for attaching goggles to the back of the helmet. With a hook that sticks up on the side of the helmet to increase rotational forces in a crash. And a colorful paint job. What a joke.
  • 19 9
@Phillyenduro: so you bash them solely on not having Mipsy stuff? Propaganda works indeed. Rotational forces? I hope you dismounted visor off your helmet. Do you even ride in Dr.Leatt brace?

@WAKIdesigns: Does it hurt your feelings somehow when someone says that Urge is doing less than other companies for helmet safety? Do you have some actual basis for disagreeing with the accuracy of the assertion? Or are you just trolling?
  • 13 4
@Phillyenduro: how do you know they are not pumping tons of money into research on garden gnomes saving you from rotational head injury? So you are basically saying that 90% of helmets out there are not made in exactly same way as Urge helmets? Inmold shell on eps? Let me list you a couple of helmets potentially as safe as urge (since they use same tech): Bell, TLD, Scott, Bontrager, most of POC, Specialized, Met. There's no evidence whatsoever that mipsy stuff works better than sweat. And I doubt if there ever will be one.
  • 7 5
If you really want, I can get the head out of my arse and calculate the G force acting on your skull base on a fact how much can a POC helmet decelerate your brain as compared to Urge helmet. Let's start with: what sort of helmet are you using? Can you live up to your expectations?

@WAKIdesigns: Garden gnomes? That's your response for what Urge is doing to stay out of last place on helmet safety? Thanks for that illuminating input.

 @Phillyenduro:
I bought one of their helmets a couple year ago and couldn't believe how flimsy the thing was, so I returned it.
  • 3 0
@Phillyenduro: alright both of y'all chill. Philly I gotta doubt that the hooks really increase rotational force they're like a cm off the helmet. WAKI I gotta agree with philly here tho as the MIPS is a proven solution to reduce the likelihood of concussion. Ultimately I think that the MTB world needs a company like URGE tho to push new ideas- whether they be good or bad. This isn't a helmet that you should necessarily buy over any other but you have to say it certainly is a unique idea. For example the chinguard is what I would consider a very unique and good idea- the goggles are what I would consider a very unique however maybe not so good idea. It's always good to have a company that is willing to try new though- even if it isn't safety related.

@ryanandrewrogers: I haven't seen any proof on MIPS working, because there simply cannot be any with the current simulation technology and not unless someone took death sentenced prisoners and slammed their heads into the ground with or without helmet. I am not a nay sayer on MIPS, it makes sense but I'd like to think I represent "healthy scepticism" due to my crash experience where fullface or open face used to slide on my head. The only self-critical notion I can have here is whether that initial low-friction slide with mipsy stuff is what minimizes rotational force. I'd like to see some comparisons on friction with and without mips. It's been already pointed out to me by a rep from POC that the best protection is one the slides on ground/tree surface. He was cirtical himself on things like backpacks with back protector, where he said that no backpack will be as efficient in protecting spine as a dedicated spine protector. It is quite clear that different kinds of hits favor different types of helmets. If you are about to get a rotational hit into your head you'll be best with a hardshell helmet that will slide against the surface it hits, unlike a inmold helmet with plenty of vents which will grip onto that surface, due to vents and soft outer shell. But if we are talking direct hit, the situation will be opposite, ribbed structure of a vented inmold helmet will deform much more than a hardshell helmet, thus provide slightly more deceleration due to better working crumple zone. So here's a question: which kinds of hits occur more often? POC currently uses a new kind of foam in their high end FF helmet, then 6D system provides a bit more cushioning as well as giving more "anti-rotational" protection. Are companies including MIPS in their helmets (Bontrager will have only MIPS equipped helmets in 2017 line) because it's so much better? Maybe, but we cannot forget the incentive to increase sales as a big factor here. MIPS is by far the cheapest and easiest to apply to a standard helmet design, allowing you to get sales margins. This just CANNOT be ommitted and combined with obvious lack of scientific examination, it cannot be taken as a proof for the system working thus providing evident advantage over a helmet without such feature. As world's biggest heads on the subject say, and some helmet makers themselves, baseline for understanding head injuries has not yet been developed thus there can be no proper tests developed. Due to such set of circumstances ANY discussion on ethics of using such system is a food for morons, getting angry and throwing sht at each other is just a sign of anxiety driven by lack of evidence. We may all say what we want here and hopefully have such discussion with some facts on our hands as soon as possible, I hope in less than 5 years time. I doubt if data will come from MTB industry, I'd rather watch American Football, MMA, boxing and other sports where head injuries are far more common. Also watch closely the company called Hövding, with their airbag collar.

@WAKIdesigns: when I saw the design I was like , ok another " waki leaks " article , then when I saw they actually post something that they will actually produce I headed down here hoping Id find your take on this bogus
  • 31 2
Now that is a great idea! with a Carl Zeiss lens too! Very nice! tup

til it's raining on a transfer..
  • 9 0
There was a company in the 90's called quick strap with a similar system
  • 3 2
@PLMedia: it never rains in France :-)
  • 3 1
 Well done, Urge!
  • 25 1
Yeah... I've never found it hard to put my goggles on or take the off. Novel idea but imo tot rally unnecessary and renders the goggles useless w/o the helmet.
  • 17 3
Terrible press release. All it told me is that i get goggles and a helmet as the same product. No information on price, number of vents, if it has a d buckle, if it has saftey release cheek pads or if it has MIPS etc.

Well I can tell you the Australian distributor aren't bringing in this year's model. Didn't say why but last year's model can be got for super cheap from them. Apparently the chin bar was dangerous.

I want there to be an aftermarket version. Same concept, clip on the front, release mechanism too. But that attaches to the sides of any helmet. Maybe like one of those side mounted super adhesive gopro attachments. If anybody knows of one, please let me know!!!

Quick strap is a snowmobiling equivalent. Same concept but for any goggle and any helmet. I dont think the strap spins on those like the urge version does though.
  • 2 0
@Rmcfarland: I used the sled version for a decade and loved them. It had a button on one side and velcro on the other.
  • 5 2
I've been using the Quick Strap for years. It's great.
  • 1 0
 @mabboo: cheers man thanks!
  • 15 4
 Nope
  • 1 1
No kidding. They took a moto helmet and just made it lighter. Took long enough I guess? Instead of velcro, let's just make it harder to find goggles that work.

Cool helmet, not exactly revolutionary or anything but it's nice to have a different option available. I don't know why anyone hasn't made a helmet with a full visor similar to some of the adventure motorcycle helmets. Wouldn't particularly fancy it myself but I'm sure some people would love it.
  • 3 0
Honestly a product I never wanted to have and never dreamed of that any company would release it.
It would be great if, for example, a more price sensitive helmet would be available. Instead something like that is available.

Why?
  • 6 1
If you need a product tester I'd be happy to fit the bill. You people make some killer lids!

Solution to a non existant problem...
  • 2 0
They'll love this on the continent, I'm sure it'll go well with full body armour suits with nothing over the top, Lycra shorts and acres of flesh between full length shin pads and go-pros strapped to handle bars.
  • 3 0
Scott quick straps do the exact same thing and you can keep the helmet you already own. Been using for sledding for years and they are great!
  • 1 0
They do the same thing for little kids snowboard and ski helmets. It makes a lot more sense here since there are rarely straps on helmets to hold the goggles on like ski lids have. Funny to see it being touted as new and innovative though
  • 1 0
the problem with this is that if you buy this and helmet gets ruined and you can't get the same helmet again, you have to buy new goggles. I think this is a silly idea, fixing a problem that is not there. the plastic peace will eventually wear out.
  • 1 0
Two things. That manual to shifty drifty @ 1:21. That's the stuff.

Then, I like this helmet. Cool lookin', innovative idear & if I could hook it up with a flat black or a raw carbon jobby I'd not complain. I wonder if you can just grab the gog's & flip 'em up & over without disconnecting. That's how I thought it was supposed to work before watching the video.
  • 5 1
I have to admit this is quite clever.
  • 2 1
I tried to buy this helmet, but it's not available anywhere in the US. I could buy it from Urge for 299 Euros. Would have been my first choice, but went to Amazon and bought a Fox. Get it together Urge!
  • 2 0
There goes the side vent design failure conspiracy ( check the original helmet launch press release post comment section ) . Smile
  • 2 2
No way in the whole world would I wear that on a climb in Alps in the summer and defo not in south of France or Spain. I'd either get a heat stroke or get so dehadrated that amount of brain fluid would go down so much that I'd get a concussion from falling on an air bag. Please URGE make a foldable climbing helmet weighing 80g... Perhaps something so slim and light that it meets EWS/UCI regulations but can be attached to a regular FF helmet Big Grin other companies went wrong way around. They made a detachable chin piece. You must do a detachable top piece Big Grin

Cheers!

Cheap ghetto solution. Step 1: Take 2 contact brand "command hooks" slap one of them bad boys on each side of your current helmet. Step 2: poke 2 holes in your current goggle strap. Step 3: loop one hole of each goggle strap onto each command hook. Step 4: look awesome and innovative! Installation tip: you may want to reinforce your goggle strap holes with duct tape. ;-)

I did a homemade version of this with Velcro a few years ago for the Megavalanche. Works great, let's your face cool off during the massive sprints
  • 2 0
Pretty sure I had an MX helmet and goggles that mounted similar to that years ago.
  • 2 0
You can't get more enduro than this..
  • 1 0
Good look helmet. Have they fix their size chart though? a ARCHI-ENDURO size XL fits like a M.
  • 1 0
What about a visor. Surely this is a much better integrated lens type solution?
  • 2 0
Moto industry has these systems for goggles in place for years....

Smith did this with little kids snow helmets a few years back...

 DAng thats cool...price?

Very cool concept will see everyone follow in the future with something similar.

 Perfect for Soderstrom!

this is actually a good idea!!

 ...them off...
  • 1 0
 That is just awesome
  • 10 11
 That is pretty darn ugly.
  • 3 3
He's right. Your down votes can't cover up the truth.
  • 2 0
@gdnorm: Ηa ha! Hard to be objective about what looks nice or not. I like it, the styling reminds me of wrc rally cars.
  • 3 4
Wow, an Urge helmet which isn't as ugly as Donald Trumps cum face.
  • 1 0
IDK why this is down voted. I've never heard of Urge before, so can't comment on the looks of their other stuff, but this comment gave me the irresistible "urge" to LMFAO!!!! So I bump you sir.
