HUTCHINSON UR TEAM 2014 - Launch in Chile
After an exciting 2013 season during which the team got numerous international podiums, National Championship titles and released the documentary ‘A Racer’s Dream’, the UCI Elite Team Hutchinson-UR Downhill Team has set new plans for the 2014 UCI World Cup series. The team recently met up in Chile in the bike park of Nevados de Chillan for some training, testing, shooting, and showing the teams new colors.

Riders :
For 2014, the team will focus its energy on a great group of 4 riders that have been getting along well together for 3 years now. Headlined by the 2013 World Championship Silver medalist Mick "Sik Mik" Hannah (AUS);

Mick :
"I'm excited to continue with Hutchinson UR team. I have seen huge growth since Tracey and I first signed and I believe that this growth will continue. I am also very excited about the companies who are supporting us into our racing future."

Joining her brother for her third year on the Hutchinson-UR program is Cairns local Tracey Hannah (AUS). After an injury plagued 2013 Tracey is poised for redemption and is training harder than ever, fuelled by a bronze medal at last year's World Champs.

Tracey :
"I am really looking forward to the up coming season, last season was hard coming back from a broken leg and then having ongoing injuries. Im excited to feel great and looking forward to having fun with the team."

For another season in the team colours is Guillaume Cauvin (FRA). At the young age of 19 the talented French rider achieved numerous top 25 results last year, with a career best of 20th at Val Di Sole.

Guillaume :
"I'm really excited to continue with the Hutchinson UR team for 2014! I've learnt a lot since 2years now so I'm really happy to continue and have some more adventures with everybody in the team. I hope we'll all have a great season and a lot of success."

Fabien "CousCous" Cousiné (FRA) will again be filling in the double role of rider and team owner :
"Being the owner of the Hutchinson UR and Polygon UR team with now 8 athletes and 10 staff fills up quite a lot my schedule, riding world cup DH is also more and more demanding each year. So doing both is not really the most reasonable choice but this choice is about passion and not reason. 2014 season will be a challenge and I will give my best to pull off some good results doing what i love the most; trying to go as fast as possible on my mountain bike!"

Race program:
The team race program is growing in order to make sure the riders go to the best events of the world with the UCI DH World Cups, the City Downhill World Tour, Crankworx Whistler and Les 2 Alpes, selected Enduro World Series and some good surprising events.

Team partners:
The team wants to thank our partners who believe in us. Thanks a lot for giving us the chance to live such a great adventure!

This is surely old news but what has happened to Holly? She crashed early 2013 and haven't seen anything of her since and she's now not on the roster? What have I missed?
  • 4 0
I just got replied comment on their facebook, they said Holly is not part of their team now, well A don't really know what happened but that's all the info I got
  • 8 0
That was my first thought as well - where is Holly?

If you check out her FB and Twitter pages she seems pretty involved in organic and vegan living now. I think that concussion rung her bell good.
  • 4 1
^Was going to mention this but didn't draw the connection. Makes me doubt all that Bluegrass equip :O haha
  • 6 3
Being vegan does not make you want to quit mtb racing Smile
  • 10 1
She's from the sunshine coast, they're all hippies and love vegan food.....

I think it was evident holly was off the team a few months ago, she was virtually cut out of racers dream, most people would mention a team members name or that they were injured but there was zero in there even at the start when she was still riding before injuries and the preseason trips she was there but not in the film, they did a good job of cutting her out like she didn't exist, which personally I thought was pretty pathetic to do. I wonder if it was a decision on her part or the team though, shes such a good rider was a great prospect for the future in elite, cant understand why you would drop such a good young female rider.

I'm not a hippie and I don't love vegan food.
  • 2 1
 Holy sh*t!!! Where's Holly???
  • 2 1
@slidways: No, she wasn't cut out. She's mentioned in the article and in the vid she is present already at 18 sec and also later: www.pinkbike.com/news/World-Champs-A-Racers-Dream-Extended-Movie-Teaser-2013.html

Still, where is she now?
  • 5 1
She was virtually cut out,the only places she was seen, track walk in fort william been one and the factory been the other Her total screen time was like 10 secs with no riding or speaking, it seemed she only made an appearance in those spots because it was impossible to cut her out... There were lots of trips and tracks she was present at but was not shown or mentioned at all. I think the idea that she was given no interviews or her injuries were never mentioned was a clear indication the direction they were going. I can understand the idea was to follow riders who competed in world but her journey although short was one that was worthy of some respectful time on screen not removing her where they could. The other riders interviews were very careful to not mention her name. I'm not saying they did this as a mean thing it may have just been the direction they went with the production but never the less i think cutting out a team mate was pretty poor form, its just my 2cents though so each to their own opinion on that one.

What really bothers me is that I haven't seen any statement about her leaving the team or anything about her at all. She won the 2012's World Champs, had a few races in 2013, got injured and then just disappeared... Is she giving up the sport?
  • 2 0
could she of gotten sick of being objectified for her looks rather than rated on her skills on the bike?
  • 5 0
She was the worlds best jnr rider, she won jnr worlds by I think it was around 8 seconds and her time also placed her in the top 10 for elite women on that day.She earned that ride with her riding results not her looks.

Its no secret shes attractive and I think lots of people picked up on that but I never saw her team or sponsors objectify her looks in advertising, Maybe it was different overseas? I never saw any sort of objectification though personally. Id hope that our sport hasn't lowered its self to that point. It does seem odd to hear nothing about her now though.

not talking about the team. talking about the fans and refering to every article or vid about her on here
  • 2 3
You may be living on planet Idealism, but here on Earth, Holly's physical attractiveness means she gets more attention than she would otherwise, and thus makes her more attractive to sponsors…which means more money for Holly. So while you are appalled that the Pinkbike demographic gets all hot and bothered over Holly, in the end, in the real world, she benefits…

It was clear last season that Holly was cut from the team, the fact that no statement has been made is the worrying part. Did she quit or was she pushed? not to go over old news but Aaron Gwin moves team and there's hell on, an up and coming junior rider (and junior world champ) disappears from a team line up and nothing is said. Smells fishy to me but that's just me.
  • 4 0
I'm with you on this, it does smell fishy. I thought Tracey and her were close but she disappeared without making any noise, so it's even smellier. However I wouldn't compare this to Gwin's move because Holly is a female racer and let's be honest, women don't get half of men's media coverage.

Would love to hear from Hutchinson UR - obviously their fans want to know why Holly is longer a part of the team for 2014. For all of us to guess will only make things worse, Hutchinson UR needs to make a statement and get out in front of the conjecture.

Say what you want about "busting up burms power sliding" but there's nothing like some dirt being kicked up at high speeds to make a video pretty cool.

Great team. But a little lame to have the lady in a separate, "feminine" kit… unless it was her request.
