Proud to call you a friend and thanks for the inspiration and good times over the decades riding, with humble interviews, hanging out, and after hours frisbee sessions at CWX!  I'm following the DH WC since only 3 years, but it seems that you are really appreciated and respected mister Hannah, and i think this is the most important thing in the end. Congrats, cheers and enjoy the beach!

I was at the race and I think I heard mik's name as much as anyones. I would hear someone speaking in a language I don’t know and hear "xx xxxx xxxxx sik mik xx xxxxx..." how cool. Hats to a great career Mik!

When the Wcdh was @ grouse, mik must have went out for a training ride on his xc bike (trail bike in the day), tore down a random road in north van, blazed through the local jump spot, (seat jacked, clipped in), easily cleaned the whole set and kept going. These are the things that make a legend.

Congrats and big thanks Mick - it was a true pleasure to watch you racing on top level for the past 20 years! Following the sport since the beginning and having seen so many races, you taking 2nd twice at world champs remain some of the most memorable moments of all time in DH racing and I still feel the pain. Such emotional moments - so capable and deserving to take the win, but still missing out super close. These rollercoasters make the sport so amazing to watch for spectators. I will miss Rob announcing Sick Mick on track and his crazy suies on sketchy jumps - farerewell to a true legend!

It twas around 1996 when I was an MTB grom and word around the pits there was a BMX dude, who quit school to focus on DH racing. The dude was Mick Hannah. Super keen to see the new kid on the block on track against the OG MudCows we ventured up the track after our runs to see the fast kunts. Mick came through a section where everyone was braking, peddling! My mind was blown. WTF had I just witnessed? Mick the BMX boy who became DH Legend.

Mick thanks for all the years of great racing, pushing the envelope and giving it your all! You have been a true joy to watch all these years as I recall when you first started and amazed all these years have passed and here we are with the final run of a legend. Enjoy whatever you do in retirement from the fast scene and stay well my friend! Cheers!

Legend. I remember reading an article on Sik Mik in MBUK a while back. I must have been 14 -15 years old. Now I'm 29 and he's still getting top results. What a machine. Well done on a solid career and obtaining legendary status in this amazing sport.

Always a fan ,gutted he didn’t win a world champion (like he’s sister didn’t)met him in Lisbon downtown, and when I asked about is bike (a cannondale judge ,I guess it was that)he said you can try it go on ,I didn’t but thank him ,he was and still is (I guess)a simple person and that is the best thing you could wish to be ,take care and ride on ,best wishes to you and your family and friends

Legend, sorry to see him leave the sport...
I had the pleasure of sharing a gondola in QT NZ a few years ago, I didn't realise who he was until I got out at the top & mate told me, came across as a genuine down to earth guy happy to talk about bikes clearly loving what he did. Fair Play & good look with whatever the future holds Smile

Anyone else notice a big cloud of pollen affecting their allergies as Mik threw that final Sui? Strange coincidence.
