Yamhill County is a gateway community of the Portland, Oregon metro area. We are located an hour from the beautiful Oregon coast, a few hours from Mount Hood and the Cascade mountain range. The community is home to some of the best wine, beer, and food in the country. While it may seem like our community has it all, it lacks local and safe places for our kids to ride their bikes. Yamhill County is home to a robust community of cyclists, but there are no developed pump tracks for kids to use and build their mountbike skills.

The skills area at Silver Falls State Park is one of the closest areas near Yamhill county for kids to ride but it's still over an hour away.

Downtown McMinnville has been highlighted in numerous travel blogs, magazines and websites. Its charm and diverse cuisine will leave your belly full and your mind dreaming of Pinot and Hops

With your help, Willamette Valley Cyclists (WVC) and Partners for Parks will change the biking scene in Yamhill County, making it more accessible and safe. We are currently running a raffle to build funds for a pump track in McMinnville, Oregon where we have over $7,200 worth of bikes, frames, and gear.

There are over 67,000 acres of federally managed lands within an hour drive of McMinnville that are slated for recreation development, including a comprehensive mountain bike specific trail system for beginners and experts.

Even 3rd street Ben loves to show off his wheels and pup

In addition to partnering with regional and federal land management agencies, WVC is working with the City of McMinnville Parks Department and Yamhill County Parks on the development and building of a pump track. Kids in our area need a safe place to exercise and gain skills and confidence on their bikes. Cars (and people on their phones in the cars) prohibit children and families from using the roads. We’ve identified multiple locations for the possible track. Final decision of the location will be determined by community feedback and what is fiscally feasible. A pump track has the potential to help build a foundation for the future of our riding community for years to come. We need your help and support. See the link below to be directed to our raffle where you can win some great prizes and help us build a pump track and comprehensive mountbike trail system.

The road biking and gravel opportunities in Yamhill County are incredible

Former Professional World Cup Racer Claire Buchar recently visited McMinnville and had this to say:
“I believe the proposed community pump track would be an amazing addition to this beautiful town and serve as a great connection to all the other world class mountain bike trails in the area and in Oregon in general. Anytime there is a place to meet, play, progress, exercise and get more people on bikes, it's good for the community. "

To turn these dreams and plans into realities, we are working on raising $10,000 through a bike raffle. Winners will be either called or emailed. There are up to 15,000 possible tickets to be sold, and the contestants will be randomly drawn through Rallyup’s website and notified soon after. The raffle ends July 31st at 1300 hours. Funds from the raffle will be put towards building a pump track in McMinnville Oregon.

Awesome! Hood River went through this process and ended up with a sweet Velosolutions pumptrack. If you haven't already, hit up HRATS for insight into the process here. Our community really rallied around the cause and now has something to be proud of.

Hey hey...we just did it again too with the new Dirt Jumps and Beginner Track (more skills features coming soon once I'm done putting up fencing Smile !

We are desperate for funding for it too as we pre-funded it to get past Covid issues:

Thanks for the support! Silver Falls for the young kiddos is great. The Salem area trail Alliance did an amazing job getting that built, my kids keep asking to go back. Catamount is a really fun trail there too.

Nice! I went to school there (Linfield) and we had a good amount of singletrack in the hills outside of town in the early/mid '90s. I assume it was all just "unofficial" user-built stuff. So much potential! Great terrain for building (though that red clay stuff...)

Ha, I grew up there biking in the early/mid 90s.
I rode an old school Raleigh with Paul’s love levers, control stix bar ends and a ringle bottle cage. Anodized purple of course.
Cool stuff.
