if it prevents rubbing and noise and forces crossing spokes to tension or flex as one unit (imagine Tioga disc drive -esque), then I'd say that's a good thing.

Opinion: I Love Internal Cable Routing, There I Said It
What I do find interesting is Ghost Bikes' approach of implementing a shrouded external routing, where it's mainly external but you can choose to put some kind of cover on top of it so it looks slick and clean.

it's a mutualistic form of marketing. create a foundation for proprietary-ish stuff, while also allowing an alternative that everybody universally conforms to. I ain't even mad. it's a win-win situation.

@DAN-ROCKS: it also won't work quite right, as there is less real estate for wheel removal (with the parallelogram in the way)
