@bkchef2000: same my buddy did so many huck to flat street and skate park sessions it was crazy. He broke a few seats and a few frames but never the deemax. I was cheap and could not get the deemax I got the deetraks and they were amazing for me.

My buddy use to own a set of these. I have never seen a person so rough on a bike it was crazy to see him drop to flat these and never have an issue. I owned the cheaper deetraks. They were amazing too only reason I do not use them nkw is because I was hit by a truck destroying them. My rear is hanging on my wall now.
In the past all you really needed were Mavics maybe a dt Swiss. I wonder if they are making a comeback?

Video: Keeping Up With the Kids in 'Cub Scoutin' About'
It seems like a great deal. It has a good climbing gear up to 42t and on sale for $200 less than the meta that I would prefer. The meta looks to have some better parts overall but do the kiddos need it. I need the kids meta only to match my HT meta. I am still shopping and we will see what I end up with.

No thank you. I like shifting and the feel of getting on a mountain bike. Upgrades to bikes have come way too far in some aspects. Some days I sit around and look at older bikes and older products and remember how much fun it was back in the earlier 2000’s. We would drool over the v10 the intense m bikes the yeti 303. The deemax or dt Swiss for wheels. Drool over the early hood brakes. The fox 40. Those videos that were ground breaking like seasons.
We do not need change for change sake. It’s crazy how much mountain bikes have changed over the years and so has the culture around it. My go to shop has even changed and not a fun place to frequent anymore.
What mountain biking needs is more of the things that made it great back in the day.
I never want my bike shifting for itself.
