Well basically all of us on this side has not heard of him before, so he came out of nowhere for us..

well, many people in europe knew him before. a nother example is, most riders in europe never heard about fogel or rheeder, they are also great riders with an other style than most of the " fmblegends". ok its cool he won, but still it is sad so many riders crashed, junst remember the banger crankworx last year, this year wasnt that awesome, except martins last run and im sure semenukes run would have been awesome too. i just wanted to say, i hoped to see a run, that blew my mind, and im sorry, his run didnt

He ment he was somewhere on the leader board and comes out of no where and places first you dumb ass

mac didn't mean it that way... he didn't mean that he literally comes from nowhere or from a place nobody's ever heard about..... its an expression, he means that he unexpectectly came in and took 1st. and by unexpectedly i don't mean that just because he's from europe he wasn't expected to win; i mean that we had our eyes set on the usual top riders, the ones we expected to win due to their history, and this unknown guy just beat them all.

I know its all a misunderstanding but wow, amazing... Mac gives Genon props, but it gets blown and turned to bullshit. i bet my fcking bike it has something to do with the flags next to our names...

i'm from belgium, i've only known about genon since he was in last year's vienna air king en got 8th I think. So it's still pretty quick to rise to first place at Cworkx a year later. If you're not a real follower to the fmb tour it's logical it seems he came out of nowhere. Oh yeah I'm from europe and I also know all about fogel and rheeder, that's not really an argument. Peace out and ride big

hahahhahaah. obviously someone doesn't know the phrase "outta nowhere". Also, obviously someone didn't check the betting odds before the race. Atala, if you were SO jacked on Genon prior to yesterday, I hope you put a large wager on him. lol

Kid came outta nowhere to win the biggest SS event of the year. End of story.

actullay, it was effectivly an answer from me a little bite nervous
just because it seems that europe is generally totaly erase from the MTB scene
I am very proud to see pics of R Schley riding in Switzerland

I was not so jacked on Genon, it's just to understand and accept the fact that there are other riders in the world than B Semenuk and Cam Mac Calle even if they are killer on their bikes, they can loose to!!!
in 2 or 3 years we will see some russian riders and they will learn to us how to ride, they will win everything, and will you say once again,""" they come from nowhere???""""
If Genon won the SS, it is just because he was the stronger and cleaner rider and by the way, it is for sure totally impossible to be a newbie and to be able to ride and win...

I am on the top of what I am able to explain in english.....it is not a frustration, it is just to try to show and explain that north america does not rule the MTB world and ther are some other places to ride than Whislter and british columbia....

sorry about that and like everybody say here peace and ride everywhere....
:-))))

If these russian kids you speak of, in 2-3 years, are 20 to 1 underdogs, and one of them wins it, yes....I will totally say "THEY CAME OUTTA FREAKING NOWHERE!!". And will be excited to see new faces take the top spot like I am wtih Genon (although I'm not sure about his silly faces to the camera)

Ever been to a horse race?

"Dude I'm so fricken stoked! My underdog trifecta bet hit because the damn THIRTY TO ONE horse came OUTTA NO WHERE to podium and now we have $1500 to go blow in Whistler next weekend!! DIRT MERCHANT!!"

^^ Obviously this person is fond of the horse since he just won him a wad of cash, also isn't saying anything bad about the horse/stable/breed. The person is just stating the obvious: that the horse was a complete underdog (google "underdog") and that not many people expected what actually happened, to happen. That's all 'came outta nowhere' means.

everyone ate it that day, if there werent so many bails, it woudve been a much more exciting event, but amazing riding overall!!

that frontie was so effortless, barely even tucked. his whole run was just unreal.

 BTW. Song ?

Awesome run. Did he get choked up on the podium? I'd probably be a bit emotional if I won something that huge too....
  • + 4
He cracked his tooth on the bottle haha
  • + 1
He did not. He was casual. In the press conference he was just chillin out gettin cam and Martin to translate the questions. A couple people said 'do you even realize what just happened!' it was pretty sweet.
  • + 2
That run was was actually so sick. Huge props to Thomas!!!
