So im in Japan right now, the problem is that nothing is built up and Japanese don't care enough about mountain biking. Don't let this video fool you, there are very few trails in Japan. This video consisted of 3 berms and two doubles that were built specifically for this film. Notice that all the berms and jumps were freshly built, most likely because there was nothing else to ride. There was maybe 45 seconds of riding in this whole video. It has potential but lacks a rider community

Same things happened in China. We have lots of great mountain features around the whole country, but there are only a few trails for people to ride.....

No offense but I really hope you're wrong and just haven't been lucky enough to check the right spots. I only say this because I have the chance to visit my friend who will be living in Japan for a few years, and Trail Hunter: Japan really got my hopes up about some solid riding there. Best of luck, hope you find some sick trail while you're still there, especially if you went through the trouble of traveling with your bike!

@Suika-Melon: I can tell you why since I'm a Chinese. Cause not many people even really know this sport exists, that including me, until I was introduced to all this by a bike shop owner in Canada. And Chinese people just think this game is way too dangerous and expensive( all my Chinese friends here in Canada thinks I'm crazy that spend that much money on such a dangerous activity.lol ) also, the super fast pace life in china just not giving people much time to build trail and ride.

I'm Japanese, live in Tokyo. As far as I know (I started to ride MTB 3years ago when I was NZ),
Most of Japanese MTB communities are considering carefully the place we ride. How we ride, How to know the place.
We can not search local trails by Internet. Because, they don't open the information.
99% of trail were build for hiking, walking or trekking. and there are almost no rules for MTB yet.
A few years ago, Tokyo metropolitan government was going to decide not to allow Mtber to ride in Metropolitan Park. and the government had already decided not allow trailrunner to run in. Some of those Park includes nice trails. For the MTber lives in Tokyo, those trails are important, you know.
So, Tokyo local MTB communities issued "rule booklet" for MTBer.
We've got some great bike park around Tokyo (2~3 hours drive away though). (Fujimi Panorama Park, Fujiten Park). and some companies conduct guided tours. These guided tours are practically enjoyable way in Japan, I reckon.
For Example, Yamabushi Trail Tour (Izu Peninsula, Shizuoka), Trail Cutter (Nagano), North Star (Norikura, Nagano)

Kind of interesting that it didn't show the riders riding the mountains they were showcasing in the video. Just showed them riding some sweet berms and doubles in the foothills. Really cool lifestyle video though.
