Splattekill - Shale Surfing

Got a chance to ride Plattekill Bike Park with @fredro again since the 2 years that they only open 4 weekends a season. Miss riding here, all the natural drop features and loose steep shale terrain is something you cant really find anywhere else, but the forest has taken back most of the trails so the trail options are limited but still super fun!

Why only open on limited times through the season mate? Love these kinds of trails

Other mountains started to open catering more to the younger kids who mainly want jump trails, you can't really do that here the place is too steep and terrain not good for jump lines and they didn't have the money it would take to build these huge jump trails, so they were not busy anymore and the owners wife wanted to start having weddings, concerts, yoga, etc... Instead of MTB. That was 2 years ago and they seem to be doing better with the weddings:

What's up man, how's it going!? We love this place, it's where I learned how to DH so its like home to me, but its both sad and awesome now, sad that most of the trails have been swallowed by the forest since they are only open 4 weekends a year for biking now, not enough usage and hardly any trail maintenance, but the few trails, that are open and clear, are still a blast to ride!

 Hey buddy!!
Yea this place is one of the first lift service mountains in the Northeast, so the trails are all natural DH specific old-school trails, techy and dangerous, love it! I was on my DH bike Evil Undead 26" is still alive! RideOn bro! Beer
