Original Acoustic riffage.

Got some new strings for my acoustic and decided to upload another video. The music is kind of 3 songs I wrote mashed into one. I made some mistakes but meh, I just turned the camera on and started playing

wow, you have many musical talents
you also seem very concentrated :}
  • + 3
I was actually concentrating more in the beginning because I was nervous about making mistakes. Then I just didn't care and relaxed and played naturally without thinking much.

That was incredibly good. I never knew you were a musician let alone such a talented one. Do you have an electric guitar too? If so, I'd love to see a video of you playing that.
  • + 3
Oh he has everything, banjo, bass, electric, harmonicas drums.

Cool. I'll be looking forward to seeing more videos then.

Sounds great, but maybe during that first bit, on the fast strumming part, you could find different voicings of the chords so that it would be easier to switch. You could play the C/G/something chords further up on the neck.

I don't really find it hard to switch from the Bmaj7 in E-7th fret position down to open C. I don't find it hard switch from the Bmaj7 in A-2nd fret up to Emin in A-7th fret either. It would be easier to barre the C ,G chords, but to me it doesn't sound as good in such a high voicing.

That's true, barring can lead to dead-ish-sounding notes. Sweet stuff anyway!

If you listen closely, you can actually here some dead notes when I screw up the barring. Frown

And thanks, I think it's pretty sweet, too.

picked up a few mistakes but im not gunna be one of those picky bastards and say you played it wrong because you played it pretty good.
  • + 1
Yeah, there's a few mistakes, but what ever. I wasn't going to spend hours recording it over and over to get it perfect. This was the first and only take.

ya i see what your saying. for sure props for playing it in the bathroom. gives it such a better effect on camera. i know a lot of people that wont do it cuase they say it looks stupid, but really what does it matter where you're playing?

The sound is more important than the look, in my opinion. I don't care if I look like a total door knob as long as the music sounds good.
  • + 2
Sick! i wish i could play that good! also you looked pretty rockin in the hard part of the song

Did you teach or self or are you taking private lessons?
  • + 0
I took lessons from a music store for a few years, stopped that and took guitar class in high school to learn more theory(reading music and stuff). Then I actually started TEACHING private lessons after high school. I don't teach anymore, but it was fun while it lasted. Maybe I'll get back into it one day.
