2012 Kona Operator. Size Large. Built up as frame only, with all custom parts, and custom paint. The parts alone on this bike are worth the price I'm asking, and I'm basically throwing the frame in for free....but more on that below.

All bushings and bearings in good condition. Fork oil and seals changed recently. I bought this frame just over a year ago, but haven't used it as much as I'd thought, and ride my AM bike more. Although I would prefer to sell the bike as a whole, I would part it out if necessary. If there is something you are interested in, let me know.

In the spirit of being open and honest, please read the entire ad, and then if you have questions, feel free to email me.

The Bad:

When I bought the bike the previous owner informed me that there may be a crack in the frame. I've tried to show it in a couple of the photos, but it is very hard to see. It runs across the top of the downtube, where it joins the top tube. It is an odd place for a crack, as it is in a non-stressed area. He also said that it could be an imperfection in the paint, as it is very thick in this area. So basically, he sold me the bike for what the parts were worth, and threw in the frame with the knowledge that there may be a problem. Which is what I am doing now.

He rode this bike for an entire season at Whistler Bike Park, knowing about the "crack". It didn't get any bigger. I rode it for about 1 1/2 years off and on. A few times at the Park, and some other shuttle trails. Again, the "crack" has not gotten any larger, or shown any signs of being a hazard. As it is in a non-stress area, I don't think it will change. I've been tempted to get the frame stripped to check the area out, but its not been worth it as I don't use it enough.

So there you have it. No surprises. If you are someone who doesn't abuse their bikes, and is looking for an awesome DH bike to get into the sport, this may be a great deal for you. Or, if you have a frame and are looking for a killer parts kit to hang on it. You have that option too.
