I'd like to hear some feedback after a few rides on new configurations, currently waiting on my pike 160mm to show. can't wait to make swap from revelation to pike. Haven't gone tubeless, but also run Butcher/Purgatory...great tires. Enjoy!!!

Bit of a data dump about my recent experiences.

Went tubeless on my 2015 650b Stumpy Comp Evo last night.

Had read that if you have already run the Roval TR wheels with tubes that you may need to junk the brown 2Bliss rim tape that comes from the factory. I kept it on, heated it up with the wife's hairdryer to allow it to re-form if needed, put a new set of Butcher/Slaughter Grids on, Stans sealant in and pumped up. Good to go.

And while I used an airshot to seat the beads, they also went up fine with a track pump (as I found out when I had to re-do the front as I'd put the tyre on the wrong way round...Frown

Had Maxxis HRIIs on before but didn't like it on the front. Was planning to get a Minion. But Maxxis distro in the UK has fallen over so you can't get anything in 650b in the UK, hence the move back to Spesh tyres, which are good anyway. Just went for Grid casing as the Controls are paper thin.

Have gone 1x10 with a 30 Raceface N/W on the stock SRAM chainset. No problems but when this set of cogs is worn I'll go XT 1x11.

Had suspension serviced recently (by TF Tuned). Upgraded shock body to Kashima and the Revelations had a blocked valve which was choking them. All feels sweet now but going to run a Pike - at 160mm to slacken the head angle a smidge. The Rev is too flexy for this bike's capability.

Looking forward to giving it a thrash at the weekend. First time tubeless so keen to note the difference.

Migtht get round to uploading pictures at some point...

Anyone put a 160mm pike on a 2015 650b stumpy? Wondering what the major changes would be other than the 10mm travel and if it's even possible? Any feedback welcome. Thanks

Picked my evo 650b up today and was going to ask the exact same thing. Anyone know if putting a 160mm pike on will void the warranty?

I'm considering the same. I seem to recall reading in the UK the documentation that came with mine that any increase in travel will void th warranty. But considering sag etc I'm not sure how, so I'm going to go 160mm when I get a Pike. At present I find the head angle a bit twitchy on occasion when heading down.

I contacted specialised and asked the question and the answer was as follows: "no you will not void the warranty by putting a 160mm fork on it, you are aloud a +/- 10% of the original fork travel with the warranty" and as I say I phoned specialised and got that reply so I wouldn't worry too much. Thinking on though I'm going to get some 36 float rc2 instead of the pike, always ridden fox and never had any issues so why change

Anyone noticed a creak from the head stock area on a 2015 650b comp with revelations? Tried all sorts to sort it and can't seem to stop it, I'm considering it may be either the steerer/crown or stantion/crown assembly :/

Had the same problem. The creak comes from the steerig tube/crown. Sent back mine to warranty and they sent me a new one.

Isolate the issue and SRAM will warranty it for you.

Cheers for the replies and I suspected that's what it would be, dissapointing as it's done less than 150 miles though

Brace yourself, got my revelation back from warranty went out for 3 small rides (+/- 15km) and the air cartridge exploded. Had to send it back again..... Just got it back today, I really hope my problems are behind me now!

I'll get it sorted under warranty and get rid I think, they are okay but not up to the riding I want to do. Was going to get some pikes but hearing and reading of faults I'm being swayed towards a fox36, ridden them for around 5 years and never had an issue

Headsets making some weird noise
It should be tight.

Shock and fork settings are a personal preference with sag and rebound so just set a Base of maybe 20% sag then fine tune while your on the trails. What fork are you running?

First post!
Awesome looking bikes I'm seeing and I think its time I start to throw some upgrades on my '14 stumpy fsr comp evo 29er. Love the 29er and would recommend it to anyone on the edge about it. Definitely have become a faster rider coming from a 26 stumpy HT. Was thinking about upgrading to the Shimano xt brakes coming from the formula c1s that have been giving me issues and a lot of people recommending going to Shimano brakes. Also having specialized going back to Shimano for their '15 and '16 bikes. I was wondering how everyone likes those and if they are compatible with the x7 shifters. I was also thinking about also turning to the 1x10 drivetrain system and was wondering any tips or suggestions with setting this up using the x9 type 2 rear mech and X01 cranks. Thanks!
