Hello everyone!

**Before you read, this is a very picture heavy thread. Please be patient while the pictures load**

Please feel free to comment, ask questions, follow along and invite your friends.

Over the last year I had to ditch my old K30 truck..due to excessive rust and limited funds...I was quite sad to be rid of this project because I had big dreams for a nice looking truck. We should all remember this truck:

In the works

However, There is good news though1
within the last year I have acquired a whole lot of knowledge and have built a firm base on which this new project will be started.

Specs: 1980 Chevy K30

Dana 60 front diff
Corporate 14 bolt full floater
Chevy small block 350
Signaw/Muncie sm465
Chevy np205

Here's a few pics from the ad and when I went to see the truck

Bought the truck for 3200. It was a bit much for this truck but for a 1 ton. It was well worth it.
Took me almost a full 12 months to find a true K30 truck so I could restart my project again properly.

Here she is sitting in my driveway.

I ended up getting a job out in AB with a framer Near High River. After I got a call to start in the oil patch I switched jobs up until January and then came back home...so the truck sat for a few months.

After a couple months back home of struggling to work and find a decent job..I did manage to get some more progress done on the truck.

More pictures to come.

Got a rear bumper. - Story on the bumper is..after I removed the dump box..it turned out that the frame was cut approx 8" short in order for the pivot to be mounted. I was pretty fumed about that. So I ended up making brackets for it.

While working the roofing job, I got a call from an oil company I sent in my resume to. They told me if I could come within 3 days, I would have the job...so I made it happen.

On the Restoration front we have scheduled...

Cab and front clip swap.
Sand blasted and painted frame and diffs.
5 deep dish rims on 315/75/16 gooyear wrangler mtr kevlar tires.

Custom driveshafts
Custom hugger orange and white two tone paint.

Other odds and ends.

So far I have:

I'm going to be swapping cab and front clip off of this truck straight onto my frame. I'm also taking the 8" of frame off the end of this truck and fixing mine.

-Tires on order- ready to be picked up from my local tire supplier (which I get 10% off at since my work has an account with them. schweeeet) first week when I get back from time off.

-Appointment booked for sandblasting and paint.

-Deposit down on my 12 valve motor.

-Have the rims.

-Order quote from ORD about my lift (waiting on shipping price)

-Other little parts for the swap from one of my parts suppliers.

-Quote for nv6500 and np205 trans and mated t-case.

So far not doing too bad at all. I'm pleased with the progress thus far and look forward to adding more pics very soon!

It'll be very mildly wheeled, dd mostly. Hooked up to a sled a few times a year. Towing horses, hauling hay, wood..etc.
It will likely see the strip a few times a year as well.

bad ass man. one question though!

how come the cummins instead of a v8 duramax?

cuz the 12 valve is si easy to wire in I guessing Big Grin

is it a 6 or 4 cylinder cummins?

Posted: Sep 27, 2014 at 20:20 Quote
12 valve is a 6bt - 6 cyl.

Duramax motors are good, dont get me wrong.

Simplicity of the swap is why im going with it. Already have some parts and what I dont, the rest are on order.
Also have contact thats hooking me up with a brand new 0km 500hp/1100tq motor.

Posted: Sep 28, 2014 at 17:26 Quote
right on man, mind me asking what your paying for it?

I have a cummins myself, doesnt quite have 500HP... but its not a 12v Big Grin

I just bought the truck with the motor in it... nothing cool like your project.

But I want to get a 12v motor and rebuild it/ swap it with the 24v thats in it

and a duramax is out of my wiring capabilities lol

such a good engine to swap, what is there a wire for the fuel pumps, starter fuel solenoid..... and depending on trans lol torque convertor lockup Big Grin

anyway, I remember your truck.... werent or arent you from ontario? never knew you were gonna swap a cummins in it.

I like diesels alot Big Grin

Posted: Sep 30, 2014 at 8:11 Quote
Paying too much lol.

6500 for my motor alone. Its all worth it though.

They are easy to hook up which is why in going with it

Yep. From ontario, truck is here too. Working in ab now.

6500, for a rebuilt motor with 500hp doesnt sound thaaat bad.

it should last a looong time even at that HP level.

Posted: Oct 9, 2014 at 5:28 Quote
Doesn't sound that bad at all. You get what you pay for.
