I'm' late to the party. This thread is killer! Love the stuff you guys have built. I started riding like 3 years ago and after some failed attempts to build stuff in my tiny backyard, I found a friend with some property we could build on. That spawned some of the jakiest creations I've ever seen (see first two pictures)... Anywho after a falling out with that friend I met a new local kid who was just getting into DH, but he mentioned that him and his neighbors had built some jumps in his front yard. I was like year whatever, but after checking it out I saw soooo much potential. Basically there were 3 piles of dirt, a massive roller to get speed, a bump for a takeoff, and a bump for a landing. (see third picture). After some convincing we got a hose set up out there, and actually shaped the jumps into a real lip and landing, and build up the first roller thingy. It was a pretty whack set up, but then an idea for a drop in came to me. We backed an old trailer home up to the dirt roller, and filled it in to make a massive dirt drop-in. worked well too. Over time the jumps got bigger and bigger and they are pretty stellar today. I'm at college now living in a tiny apartment so there's no backyard jumps for me anymore, but I thought you'd all enjoy my friends backyard jumps that I worked a lot on.

Super janky jump built with first friend.
supah old jank style. Uploaded for forum use.

Fist jump with new friend
Shredding local stuff...

Added roll-in and a second jump. Jumps actually look like jumps now.
Practicing some whippage. I m getting there.

Beefed up the first one
Testing the revamped first jump
revamped an old pic... Looks a messing with better now.
Getting his whip on when our jumps were smaller.

And here's where they are today....
Cimmarron s trails
Cimmarron s trails
going big on the home jumps
going big on the home jumps

I have some videos too but I gotta go ride right now... Hope you like my many hours of digging.

Thats awesome! Definately looks like a fun time. And over the years hopefully more riders will help build. Pretty sweet

yo da moose, nice progression. the jumps actually loook really fun. I wish I had some pics of the first stuff I build it was janky as f*ck too!

I finally got my backyard bikepark setup to ride, cant wait for the weekend. I work wayyy to much and it holds up my building and riding big time....

have you jumped this yet or not? not sure on the scale but it looks like you may need to make this way longer for it to work, if its too tight it will make you lose speed, however when shaped right it gives you a lot to pump and could make you gain speed quite effectively. this is a difficult sort of lander to shape, it may take a few tries.

and make youre take offs wider, its better to over build than under build. you seem to have plenty of dirt at the side doing nothing, itll make your life much easier to make the take offs wider, allows for more room for error.

What kind of dirt do you all use? What packs well and doesn't crack? Thanks for all the help!

mix a pile of dry red clay with a bag of powdered concrete mix with water shape and pack and in a week or two youl have rock hard jumps

What do you use to mix it?
