i've tried the stroker ryde and trail but just didn't like the feel at the lever...of course i would still like to try out the ace..on someone elses bike

That's why Avid is often preferred (don't flame here) to Hayes when it comes to levers. Avid's levers pivot near the bar, so that the arc of the lever goes in the same natural direction as your fingers. Hayes has the pivot so far out that it's uncomfortable because the lever swings towards the stem, making your hands want to move side to side. Hayes could do with some ergonomics education.

the mags were class brakes but i sold them and the hfx9 were amazing for oem brakes,i just wanna change and for me the lever looks piddly thin.
