Winters coming and bikes will need some love. I've got a RS Totem Air that I dont think I'll be needing any more. Anyone in the market for a wicked SC fork?

So who rides a 1x11 All Mountain set up?

The stock 32 chain ring is too big for steep tech climbing, at least sustained climbs, at least for me.

The rumble to the reservoir on Sunday was doable but hurt like hell near the top pushing that gear all the way up.

So question is go down to a 30 or all the way to a 28?

The 30 might be great middle ground but still concerned about the climbing.

I'm worried the 28, which would be great for climbing, will not be good for the DH.

Opinions please..............

my XC is on a 11-34 x 30 narrow wide. I can do anything in the mice and campbells. what's your rear range?

I did the math when I was planning a 1x setup and the biggest I could go on the front with a 42t on back was 30. That was the same ratio as my f24t / r34t combo. But my xc bike is 34lbs. I felt 30 on the front was too much compromise for the downs to sacrifice the 2x.

OK, so I broke out the slide rule and the abacus and came up with some numbers for gear ratios.

With 27.5 wheel and 175mm cranks;

30f - 40r = 3

22f - 30r = 2.9 (my climbing gear with a dual ring setup)

28f - 40r = 2.8

New bike is lighter and climbs better so I'm going with the 30t up front with the 10-42t in the back.

Must get bigger legs!!

30 42 will be no issue at all!
