a nickel is only about 2mm bigger than a dime... but ive got tons of fat bolts lying around, ill make it work

they are also twice as wide. If you take your crank bolt off just look down the hole. You need something just big enouhgt to rest on the edge of the axle.

i think dimes might be too thin. anyway ive found a bolt that will fit

sorry to dig up an old thread, but ive got snafu mayweather cranks, and im trying to take the crank off with a crank puller, but i cant thread the first part into the crank arm, it just wont thread, would anyone have and idea as to the explanation?

you can get that little adapter to use a square taper crank puller on an ISIS or octalink like this one:

and guess you can get away with a dime, but it slightly overlaps the flange of the black nut that is threaded into the crank arm and could cause the "snugness of the dead stop into it" to be slightly non flush, and it would seem that multiple dimes could get bunched up together oddly and cause even more “un-snugness”. I found an old rear derailleur hanger bolt in my spare parts that worked perfectly....
