I know this thread is to post BigHits but I thought it would be the best place to come!
Im currently looking at this https://www.pinkbike.com/buysell/1654842/?directtofirstphoto as my first FR/Dh bike and was wondering what any of you thought of the specs,
thanks

Given the spec, and age of the components I'd haggle DOWN from £500. I've seen newer BH's on here with better spec for the £££. Its not an unreasonable amount to ask for this bike but it's an oldie. I would personally have a close look at the frame in person to be sure its not had too hard a life. As a first FR/DH bike then its a winner but pay close attention to those bearings and welds Smile

Okay thanks Smile

What headsets is everyone using in their 2010 bighits with boxxer forks?

Got an fsa in at the minute but need to replace the lower bearings and want a sealed unit.

Can't seem to find any on the net that are external cup for 1.5" headtube and 1-1/8 steerer.

FSA Orbit

I have this headset on my 2005 Devinci Ollie, 1 1/8 steerer, 1.5 headtube. i didnt had any problem with that headset in 5 years of abusive riding.

I can't remember though if a zerostack type headset would fit in a 2010 bighit. it might only accept external cups :/

If not, there is still the pig fat pig option, but its quite heavy and the bearings arent sealed. Hope you'll find something.

That's what's in the fsa pig. I could get new bearings, would ideally like a sealed cartridge bearing headset.

The Orbit have sealed cartridge bearings

Has anybody fitted a Rock Shox Kage RC to a 2006 big hit?, I'm thinking of replacing the Fox Vanilla R on mine.

So, it is possible to run a 1x10 on a 2010 specialized big hit fsr 1 ???? I have had conflicting answers on this subject ...

Posted: Feb 13, 2015 at 23:42 Quote
Wlisle0803 you can do a 1x10. Cassette spacing on hubs r the same as a 9speed

Posted: Feb 16, 2015 at 12:31 Quote
unfortunately i have an 8 speed and just was informed its not possible..... Frown

Technically u can install a 10speed cassette on a 8speed hub by adding a spacer . But it's not recommended cause 10speed cassettes r much narrower compared to a 8speed cassette n will cause dents on your hub body. Try n search online for second hand rear hubs, that would be a better option
