Teva Games Photo Essay #3

Feb 13, 2012
by Baxter Redfern
Today brought the day most of us had been anticipating since our arrival. The bike events were up! First off was an afternoon dual slalom race which was followed by the main attraction, the best trick jam.

photo
Aaron Chase is an old hat when it comes to racing dual, and actually seemed to be pretty at home on the snow.

photo
Chris Van Dine was in the house shreddin some snow, he wasn't able to podium, but it looked like he was having a blast regardless.

photo
Kyle Ebbett is a huge part of the Teva MTB brand and he was gamin during dual today!

photo
The finals came down to Chase Vs. Ebbett and as you can see Ebbett pulled out the win.

photo
This has been a common sight this weekend. Teva made sure everyone was having a good time all of the time. The top two bro down post finals.

photo
Teva really did their research when it came to the best trick jam. They had Cam McCaul's input on the ramps and Kyle Ebbett doing the build. There was a 40' jump with a slightly steeper lip, and a 55' jump with a little more mellow lip. The riders had one hr to session the jump and throw their best stuff and once the boys were warmed up they definitely started pulling out the big tricks.

photo
Sam 'The Dirty Pirate' Pilgrim was riding super well during the jam, nice pirate tuck.

photo
This may look like a straight air, but if that's the case, you're looking at it wrong. Check out the giant plume of fire to Adam Haucks right. Fire...Fire..

photo
As redemption for publishing a photo of 'The New Jersey Strangler' doing a straight air, I had to publish this fireless toboggan.

photo
Mike Mo was charging all night, when this guy gets goin' it's something sick to watch. He blew out of this 720 attempt, but the gnarly thing is that it was the only spin trick thrown all night. No one, including Mike, had even 360'd the 55 foot ramp, let alone 720'd it.

photo
Cam Zink was up to his usual debauchery all jam long, huge flip tricks. Here he goes for a superman seat grab flip.

photo
Chad Kagy is a legend in bmx. Video game characters, X-Games Champ, Nitro Circus bad ass, and just all around nice guy. He had been riding McCaul's old slope bike for apparently about a week prior to the event, but you could not tell. He rode super well and dialed in some clean flip-whips. Which is a miracle because he guinea pigged the 40' ramp in practice and over shot it by 30'. Scary moment but he bounced back and killed it in the jam.

photo
Mike Mo is a good dude. He was in super high spirits all weekend which was coincidental because his front flip over the 55' jump was also super high.

photo
Chad Kagy dialling in another flip whip.

photo
Hopefully Kagy makes it out to more events this year. He's a super welcome addition to the slopestyle scene.

photo
The top three, Pilgrim, MikeMo and Chad Kagy.

photo
Every win deserves a beer shower.

There you have it. Teva winter games is a wrap for Pinkbike. If you get a chance to go to next year's winter games, or the Teva summer games I strongly suggest you make it happen. They run an amazing event and put a ton of hard work into making everyone feel welcome. It's a good time.
