Before the great evening rains, today saw riders young and old take to the hill in the discipline famed for encouraging not only fast pace but looking good doing it; the aptly named Speed & Style. Simon Nieborak now shows us exactly what went down using the following explicit images. Content which some slow and and awkward riders may find disturbing. You have been warned.
The battleground... There's got to be good anagram potential.
Big names queuing at the start gate for the finals: Kerr, Godziek, McCaul, Howey, Watts, Thevenaf, Reynolds, Chauvet, Loron, Messere, McGarry, Derbier, Zink, Lemoine, Chubey and Van Steenbergen.
Anthony Messere full gas off the wall.
With two main chairlifts closed in the resort due to high winds at the peak, it was pretty windy down in the bike park for the racers, but this didn't stop them pulling big flips.
Tomas Lemoine was up against tough competition in the 1/8 final... Cam Zink.
Cam McCaul kicking it over the big double.
Szymon Godziek boosting the wall, but losing out to Bernard Kerr.
Pierre Tevenardt lost out against Sam Reynolds in the 1/8 finals.
Sam Reynolds was riding strong today but he couldn't quite manage it against a stronger Greg Watts in the 1/4 finals.
Brendan Howey going big on his own at the first big feature. He eventually lost out to Bernard Kerr in the 1/4 finals
Bernard Kerr was on full race mode today and progressed into the small finals against Adrien Loron, who he eventually beat to secure third place.
Cam Zink dug up a lot of loose dirt on the track today, almost taking him out in one of his runs, but he managed to hang on and go through to the finals against Greg Watts.
And then there were two. Greg Watts and Cam Zink at the end of their run and waiting for the judges to decide on the winner.
The medalists: Kerr, Watts and Zink... All of to the le banque ce soir.
The sweet taste of 4th of July grape, hitting the spot for Cam Zink.
Estas en todo tu derecho que no te guste, a mi no me ofendio para nada, cada quien su pedo. Yo preguntaba porque no entendia porque era aburrido, gracias por la respuesta, suerte.
I know this event is still very NEW to MTB but in MX the rider with no style looses regardless of time, IE Bernard. This is france so we will take it with a grain of salt and weed but hopefully we can gain respect in this event thru proper judging in the future. At least Zink and Watts were in the final.
Its called 'speed and style' so both need to be taken into account, that's the whole point. And whats up with the French reference? French are at the forefront of mountain bike racing so I have no idea how you feel they can't judge this competently.
