 Put my old fork back on (rebuilding the newer one) and got rid of the seatclamp.

 Ah at least I was right that something was different about the fork. Didn't know removing the seatclamp was new, definitely looks better though.

 Sort of...once you loosen the four pinch bolts you can unwind it by hand so it's QR in that sense.

 Okay, is it from a newer fox fork? Cause thats like O7 isnt it?Because I would much rather have one of those then the standard axle that strips out if you give it a few to many dirty looks.

 I've actually never seen a 36 without it. But it's a 2007 fork and it uses the same axle.

 WHAT! That's unfair! every 36 i have seen is the complete opposite. The hex axles suck, i stripped one one out and destroyed a fork.

 Why don't you just put a big ol' slot in the axle, then you could use a screwdriver to get it out.

 Not really. The damper likes to unthread itself slowly, and it generally feels very notchy through the travel. Also the bushings are shot to hell and there's audibly pieces of stuff rattling inside the fork.

 Wanted to ask you about how you like the XT brake, you have a set on the trail bike too right? Mine are sitting in my basement, rear needs re-bleeding and they squeak like hell. Not broken in yet I don't think, but they should stop right? Different people have been saying different things about Shimanos.

 Elixirs on the trail bike. But I love this XT. It's been flawless.

 Right. I expect mine to be flawless or they're being sold and replaced with nicer elixirs... or xo or xx.
